I have owned this Cherry red RG570 since 1994 I would not give it up. I play Metal and Rock and pump it through a marshall and G1 multi effects. I have played in small bands and jam sessions around Toronto ON Canada.

I paid $150canadian for it from a friend. I had been looking at the ex series and my friend offered it was a steal so I bought it.

The neck is thin so if don't have fingers like hendrix you can still play. pickups are great diMarzio's. The Floyd Rose great for holding the tuning pretty much stay in tune for long time. I love the fact that it does not matter if you are metal player or a jazz player or even blues this guitar sounds good through most amps Mesa, Marshall and Peavey and will give you the sound you need.I have played Les Pauls, Strats, Deans but I still will not get rid of this guitar.

The Floyd Rose is a pain the but to change strings 1hr including tuning but see above.

Quality was still japanese no second rate factory in korea like the frets that stick out and cut ya on the new models P.S to Ibanez The 20th anniversary model RG blows plays and feels nothing like the old ones.

If can find one and buy it, keep it it will do you proud.

I got this guitar at American Musical Supply $569

I love the neck, it is so thin and fast it makes going up and down the neck a breeze. I also love the overall feel of the guitar it is solid.

On this unit the high E string tuner is extremely loose and that is how it came but it still does the job, i dont really care for the Rootbeer Metallic Paint job on it, but im not going for a beauty contest. And the pickups arent that good they are kinda muddy sounding, but i changed that and put in a dimarzio Tone Zone in the bridge and a dimarzio PAF Pro in the neck, and now this guitar is smokin!!

Top Notch, very well made and really good finish and it is just overall well made!

I bought it off Music123.com as a closeout deal for around $400 American dollars including shipping to Australia.
I own a les paul and I just want a guitar with a locking trem and 24 frets for heavy rock stuff.

Very nice built-quality. Absolutely no flaws on finish or hardware. The whammy bar stays in tune very well and extremely easy high frets access. neck is thin and comfortable.

Pickups are a bit weak but alright

Better built quality than my made-in-American les paul gothic. There's no dead notes or slightly dead note on this guitar which is awesome.

It worths me going through all this trouble to order it, get it shipped and pay the custom since i got it for half price (close out …

I bought this off a website for 400 usd. I tried it at guitar center and this kicked butt. So I decided to buy it.

Metal, jazz or Blues, it can play it all. But HALT! I also use a Boss gt-6 processor, so that helps to kick the tone of the Guitar. The neck is very easy to play on, especially playing fast. Playing solo's is very enjoyable with the neck pickup. The bridge pickup is good for playing crunching riffs, for example some of those crappy new metal bands like Sparta, Linkin Park, Chevelle and a whole load of others (they dont play solos because they can't!). They suck but this guitar does not.

You must be thinking why I am writing a review if I said that I use a boss gt-6, because that makes the difference. But I used a fender "made in USA"
telecaster that cost a fortune, and that guitar plain sucked. It could not play Blues or Metal, just a really crappy guitar. Thus I would definitely recommend you to save your money and invest it
in an Ibanez RG570. The sound is warm, sharp and crystal clear. No fuzzing. The middle pickup sucks majorly though.

Oh Boy, I love this guitar to death but tuning is such a pain in the neck. After changing my guitar strings, I spent an hour and a half tuning it. But once it stays in tune it remains like that for a good period of time. Floyd rose tremolo's are in general a pain to tune your guitar. The tension of the whole guitar changes eveytime you make a minor change in tuning. One change makes all the strings out of tune. Next bad point is that the Floyd rose is not an "original floyd rose", but a licensed floyd rose tremolo. But not a problem at all. It does the job with perfection. And least of all, the fretboard has really simple inlays. I wish it had a prettier design. The guitar does not come in exotic designs either.

Well made, very solid and slick. I wish Ibanez could make 16th till 24th frets more acessible. Quality is very good, the output jack did go off once but I fixed it. Can be done very easily. Need not stress about it and happens rarely.

I would choose this guitar if I did not more that 500 dollars to spend. If I had more that 500 dollars to spend, I would buy another Ibanez guitar say for example the Steve Vai guitar. That has some pretty designs and also a very good sound. I cannot compare how much better or how much worse. But THE IBANEZ RG570 IS AN AMAZING AND A VERY PROFESSIONAL GUITAR. TRY IT AND BUY IT.
    Cheers!

Ebay - $400 brand new with case.

The look and the feel of this guitar is amazing. Especially since i was used to the bulkiness of acoustic guitars. The neck couldn't be any better. The smooth thin neck allows for quick and effortless chord changes as well as shredding with no speed limits. The "Edge" tremelo is possibly the best Floyd Rose system you can get on any guitar and it stays in tune wonderfuly, even after many bends, dives, and pull ups. The pickups provides a wide array of tones. The V7 humbucker gives you bright, full bodied tone. S1 coil pickup is weak, but gives you decent uncolored sound. V8 humbucker is more twangy sounding, w/ extra midrange and is great for harmonics. Ove…

V8 humbucker is more twangy sounding, w/ extra midrange and is great for harmonics. Overall, these are very good for stock pickups.

Note sustain isnt as long as most hardtail units. Floyd Rose trem takes awhile to get used to. It makes it harder changing strings and properly tune things up. While i love the Edge trem, the back end of it sticks out a bit, so it can get in the way of playing, although it doesnt bother me the way i play. The center pickup is a bit noisy, but thats expected from single coil pickups.

Minor chrome pitting on the trem hardware, but no big deal. Everything else looked flawless and so far has held up very well. It still looks and plays as well as when I first got it 6 months ago. Edge tremelo is of very high quality and heavy duty, unlike the TRS trems seen on many lower model Ibanezes.

Surprisingly versatile for a guitar that looks like its just made for heavy metal. Very feature rich guitar for the price and the quality to boot.

Not really a problem for me but for someone with small hands teh jumbo frets may be too much to handle, sometimes it is TOO heavy and the output blurs into one big mess but only occasionally, and if you have a second guitarist in your band this guitar completley wips out their sound.

Hard as nails, drop it and it just gets back up and bites your ass. Its very chunky and quite heavy but not un comfortable, overall its the sturdiest guitar i ahve played.

Overall if you want heavy THIS is THE guitar, it gives a low down CRUNCH and snaps at the audience its a god among guitars.

Got it used on ebay for about 150 with shipping.

The Floyd Rose system is deffinitly a plus. With a tremelo arm the bridge can actually go into the hollow part of the body. Almost never has to be tuned if set up right. The Wizard Neck is very thin and quick with a 24-fret fretboard. Pickups are not exceptional but good with 2 humbuckers and a single coil in the middle. Good metal guitar.

Neck is a bit too straight. Could be just this unit.

Not the prettiest axe but she gets the job done. Had a problem with hardware but fixed it. Its had some miles.

This guitar rules for all out thrashing and rock and roll. Once youve had floyd rose and a wizard neck youll never go back.

I bought this guitar from my local soundcontrol, and paid £479.

This first thing about this guitar is the neck! Its the thinnest neck that i've played and is a dream to play. The colour of this particular model is also great, its called Gray Nickel. Its a cross between silver and a gun metal black. The floyd rose tremlo is also very good.

At the moment nothing, but there is occasionally a slight rattle from the top string. Also the floyd rose takes awhile to get used to, as the slightest of touches on the bridge when palm muting can often cause some unwanted tremlo effects.

It has excellent sound. I recieve endless compliments on it anytime i let anybody else play it. It has a seymour duncan pickup installed in the bridge which is truly awsome. But unlike most guitars out there, the stock pickups are excellent as well. The Edge (floyd rose liscensed) tremolo system is amazing - extremely high quality. Other than the sound, the best part of this guitar is the feel. Its wizard neck is paper thin (the thinnest i've ever played or seen) allowing you to fly up and down the neck with ease. Nothing except for a few minor annoyances. The locking tremolo system can be a pain to work with (install strings, maintainence), but it is worth it. The locking nuts at the top above the first string can be annoying because of their sharp edges that can hurt your fingers when playing near the nut on the first string.

This is the Japanese model, meaning it's quality of workmanship is second to none. Cheaper Ibanez models are made in Korea and they are cheaper for a reason. It is a well known fact that the best made guitars come out of Japan (while the worst come out of Mexico and Korea). The frets are very strong and do not wear quickly. The paint is solid and thick and doesn't fade or blotch.

If you want to play heavy metal (especially lead guitar) - then, hands-down, this is the axe you should buy. The dual humbucking pickups give that heavy crunch, and the single-coil gives the more classic sound (so you aren't restricted to a certain sound). The tremolo system is a must have for lead guitarists allowing for those super-low dive-bombs and not causing the guitar to go out of tune. The thin neck allows for super fast movement and finger tapping (ala Eddie van Halen) is a breeze. And for the price these things can't be beat. Buy one - now.

Purchased this unit used at Midnight Music in Pittsburgh, PA for $300. Originally was $600 new and was only a year old.

It looks like a heavy metal guitar and the combination of dual-single-dual really makes for some interesting tonal combinations. The neck is one of the Wizard types and is fast as hell and flat - designed for fret burning.

I don't like the fact that it seems like with the slightest changes in humidity, the neck goes all out of whack. Maybe it's because it's so thin, but I've had to adjust the truss rod several times.

Well built, nice fit and finish. Even for a used guitar that was used to gig with it remained in great shape. Very solid and good quality hardware.

It's been 18 years since I have this little jap and frankly, after the amendments became indispenseble. a basic look terrible, a round of crazy and saw the bargain price, I think it's a good choice. UTILIZATION

We have had the direct number one asset: the handle. superb grip, flat, broad, and somewhat tiring to acute Royal ACCS. for the fans down here is a quick and pleasant alli very friendly. the weight and feel is reasonable, it would very well but is not part of the lighter. nothing nasty standing was not the impression of a stroll "cinderblock"!.

    SOUNDS

I will not really talk about sound, but mine deposits Di Marzio there are of course no stranger, but the base is really good. it sounds great and seems to vacuum exactemment made for this kind of small change. I have more than the bridge pickup so for me it boils down to the big patatte :-).

I do not know if I would do it again (same shit when I was sanding, paint and varnish) but in any case I regret it at all.

    Ibanez RG570 [1989-1992]Published on 08/18/11 at 03:34
I can't quite remember where this was made, but it was most likely made in japan.

    3 pickup config: hum/single/hum : V7 neck, V8 bridge and S1 single.

1 vol with 1 tone with a 5 way switch.

I believe mine had the original edge tremolo and wizard neck. Can't quite remember if it was the super wizard or the original.

24 frets, 25.5" scale on a rosewood board, maple neck with I think a mahogany strip in the middle or it might've been bubinga but I'm quite certain it was mahogany. Bolt on neck construction with the all access neck joint (AANJ)

Mine was the glittery-ish silver color.

    basswood body.

    UTILIZATION

The RG570 is great itself as a whole with all the specs given. Comfortable super-strat features and body contours as well as the AANJ (all access neck joint) makes this guitar hella playable!

I can easily reach all frets! the AANJ is famous for this and has been for quite some time.

It's really easy to get good tones depending on what gear you're using and what pickups. Most players usually swap the pickups out of the RG for some aftermarket stuff. I did the same.

The trem is also very stable. I did toy with it a little bit, but back when I owned this guitar I barely used the trem for extreme whammy tricks and what not. I definitely should've spent more time doing so!

    SOUNDS

Soundwise I remember the ibanez pickups being way too fizzy and unclear with distortion. Though I do remember the cleans being quite good. Not totally sterile but not super twangly either. It was definitely a usable tone, especially with the single coil pickup you're able to blend the pickups in and get a somewhat single coil quack. Although I used it mainly as a sort of gain reducer.

I eventually changed the pickups to EMGs, a few different models, at first 81 and 85, then 81 and 60 and then 85 and 60. I eventually disconnected the single coil pickup. Then I eventually just took it out and put a pickup cover to cover the hole.

At the time I was very very happy with the sounds after the EMG pickups. I was going for a modern metal sound and I loved the metallica tone at the time so EMGs suited the guitar and my style perfectly. The cleans were great with the EMG 60 and though the metallica guys use 81s in the bridge I liked the beefiness of the 85 in the bridge.

So of course this gets a low review because it's about aftermarket pickups as opposed to the original pickups.

    OVERALL OPINION

The RG570 was my second guitar that I ever owned. I had it for about 3 years and it served me well. I did a lot to it in terms of modification, eventually stripped the body to its natural wood finish and it looked superb and sounded great after the EMGs. The tremolo served me well for what I was doing and the guitar was just great overall. Its built to last and built to be pimped up!!

I sort of wish I still had it just to see what it looks like now. It was a great guitar for intermediate or pro players I'd say. You have to like having a tremolo to get such a guitar! Don't just jump into it cause everybody else has one (eg paul gilbert, steve vai etc).

    Most common RG

    Ibanez RG570 [1989-1992]Published on 06/24/11 at 01:39
The Ibanez RG570 is probably the most common RG out of all of them out there. It's been in production for as long as I can remember. The guitar features a basswood body with a maple neck and a rosewood fretboard, 24 jumbo frets, an Edge tremolo, dot inlays, HSH configuration, one volume pot, one tone pot and a five way switch.

This is the definitive shred machine, and it's continued to set the bar for the past 20+ years. The neck on this is super thin. When I mean super thin, I really mean super thin. It's totally flat too. That means you can get insanely low action without an issue. The neck joint on these is not bad; it's cut back a bit, but the newer ones are better. The best th…

It's totally flat too. That means you can get insanely low action without an issue. The neck joint on these is not bad; it's cut back a bit, but the newer ones are better. The best thing about this is the Edge tremolo. It's one of the best trems out there. It lasts for decades, feels amazing and stays in tune.

The sound is kinda polarizing. Basswood is a warm and middy wood, and not everybody enjoys that. The pickups in this thing stock suck. They're pretty thin and lifeless. However, they really come alive once you start putting in some nice DiMarzios. My favorite are probably Breeds, Air Norton, Tone Zone or the such as they can really bring a new dimension to the sound of this. The best thing is that it's an HSH configuration so you have a super versatile configuration that can do nearly any style. I especially like these for Fusion, personally.

Given the used prices of these guitars, they're some of the absolute best guitars you can buy. The necks are super thin and flat, the trems on these are some of the best ever created and it's extremely versatile. You'll probably need to replace the pickups, but I thin everyone should own at least one of these.
