Schecter Synyster Custom [2007-2016]

Made in Korea I suspect. Usualy Schecter quality, have played a lot of these and they are consistently pretty good. Comparable to LTD and upper end Ibanez. In fact I believe the Schecter stuff is made in the LTD factory too. 24 jumbo frets with 25.5 scale. Mahagony neck and body. Duncan Invader pickups and a Floyd Rose trem. Pretty much a shred machine. No big surprises here.

UTILIZATION

I am the lead player in a band that tours more than anything, and we have a partial endorsement with Schecter. This is good because quite frankly we tour pretty hard and these guitars typically last about 4-6 months on the road depending on how long our tech and myself can keep them going. Usually the higher end ones $600+ last longer than the cheaper Schecters but there are exceptions. This is not a knock against the brand. We used to be endorsed by Jackson and it was basically the same story. They might have lasted a bit longer but Schecter takes better care of us.

Anyway, I decided to give the Gates Custom a whirl on tour last year. I usually like more traditional body shapes but I can tolerate this one. It's a lot like an explorer. It plays well enough. Average for Schecter. No dead frets.

SOUNDS

I've never been a really big fan of Duncan Invaders but I think the mahogany in this guitar really warms them up for solos. They are high output and while I rarely play rhythm they have a nice full sound when strumming. I think perhaps they could've went with something else in the neck but it's not a big deal. The band plays hard rock and metal stuff. I think this might be one of my favorite schecters so far for what I do. Shame I can't bring my nice guitars out on the road but oh well.

OVERALL OPINION

I do have one complaint about this one and it's a problem I've had with a few other floyd schecters. The locking nut on these licensed trems are not good. It's getting to a point where me and my tech are replacing them as soon as we get them. I play lead and I really need a floyd, but Shecter locking nuts don't stay in tune for me because they don't secure small gauges very well. It's a problem I've had for about 3 tours now. I will either keep replacing the nut or get non floyd models. Still, not a huge complaint but something to think about. Overall this is a good axe for the price I think.

UTILIZATION

very good ergonomics (there is a big difference with the dean razorbacks very large), light guitar, floyd rose bridge, lots of comfort for the right hand and precision key
sleeve: very nice guitar made to play fast
access to acute: super easy, 24 frets and a guitar like this is done for

good sound: in line with the microphones

SOUNDS

it is blues, jazz, or metal / Shredd it should! only the look of the machine may seem strange to some styles of a scenic view

amp: I have a laney lc15r any lamp, not too scene right now ...

in clear clean sound
in saturation: its not too fat, just right

to make effective guitar squealing to dimebag ... or synyster gates, of course!

OVERALL OPINION

two years. Purchased on a big butt on the net shot pocker successful.
good quality / price ratio, other guitars (signatures) other brands offer the same quality or lower prices rather approaching the 2000 euros.

Note: This guitar is one of the few to meet all of the following that I have decided: seymour duncan humbuckers good / 24 boxes / pink floyd / ... and an ebony fingerboard, which I am a fan (see my big brother to a gibson les paul custom with which I played my debut).

my fingers glide smoothly on the button, to me it's really little more, and finally, with a particular look, it's flashy onstage without being overbearing, especially a guitar less ergonomic " would be less "I think with small gabaris like mine (1 m 74).

In which country was it made? These guitars are made in Taiwan (that show a little delirious, but that nothing shall affect the quality!)

What type of bridge? Floyd Rose original (and therefore high quality ^ ^)

What kind of stick? Apparently a handle in Mahogany with Ebony buttons (I'm not sure on this point should be checked)

How many frets, what kind of microphone and their configuration? 24 jumbo frets, Seymour Duncan Custom with Invaders (trick nag!)

What are the settings? A really precise volume control, a tone control also very accurate with a switch for passing the single-coil pickups in humbucker instead of (really stunning especially for acoustic music), a pickup selector 3-way.

UTILIZATION

The handle is it nice? The handle is really nice! I tried many other guitars at around € 1000-1200 and that it is by far my favorite!

Ergonomics is good? Already good guitar is just beautiful! After it is possible that some do not because it is a special form and color rather unusual! Question finishes there is nothing to say. Only small downside, the guitar is a little heavy but not excessive!

Access to Acute easy is it? No problem to access the latest freight!

Do you get a good sound easy? I can not really answer that question because I have a rotten amp xD (Marshall MG15FX). But I still manage to have its very unlike my old guitar! (ESP LTD AX-50) I expect the test on a tube amp and I'm pretty sure the sound is excellent both in sound distortion!

Are they suitable for your style of music? As a fan of Avenged Sevenfold I think this guitar is well suited to my style of music ^ ^

What kind of sound you get and with what settings? First for acoustic tuning in single coil gives a great sound very clear and easily obtained humbucker crunch with lots of bass! Then distortion issue is simply a crazy thing! Really well in single coil for a good not too heavy overdrive and distortion for humbercker well for big heavy metal!

With what (s) amplifier (s) or effect (s) do you play? Sniff! With a Marshall MG15FX = '(I've yet to pedal or distortion pedals!

OVERALL OPINION

For how long have you been using it? I have this guitar for only a week and I'm really happy!

Did you try many other models before getting this one? I tried a Gibson Flying V (970 €), a few other guitar Schecter, Ibanez and Jackson around 1000 € and I think this one is the best! Little problem: I have not found any store with the guitar in question already so I had to order it without the test and pay a deposit of 230 € without knowing if she would please ...

What thing do you like most/least about it?
Most: the shape, color, handle and switch!
The least: nothing!

What is your opinion about the value for the price? So the price / quality ratio is really good! There are not many guitars as great quality at this price!

Knowing what you know now, would you make the same choice? Of course it does! This guitar is simply beautifully and magnificently beautiful!
