The SRS is a Megawide audio processing using the process spacialisation Sound Retrieval System developed by SRS Labs.
The first version of the audio processing was marketed in 1993 under the name of the brand HK100 Hughes, many engineers who have used this equipment for spacialisation an instrument or a drum loop or other instrument in a mix.
Then the SRS appeared under the brand name SRS with the BAP 02 for Broadcast Audio Processing 02, it encounters a huge hit with American radio stations looking for a worthy successor to the famous Stereomaxx.
Finally, the BAP02 modernized to take the name of Megawide MW02.
The technology used is 100% analog, megawide includes 3 audio processing, the spacialiseur with orders and Space Center, the equivalent of MaxxBass TruBass and voice clarity which incorporates the principles of enhancers like Aphex.
A complete treatment balanced XLR input and output and a high quality of manufacture 100% USA. This treatment significantly mordernise sound and brings out all the stereo effects without overdoing it either if we exaggerate it. It provides low farms and spectacular. The crystalline free acid treble sound special but do not over abuse the voice clarity.

UTILIZATION

The operation is very simple and intuitive, a machine that is set to the ear as before.
The manual is very simple and it allows you to quickly capture the machine.

SOUND QUALITY

Frankly at the top, not breathing very precise audio. The stereo is really enhanced by the Megawide.
Like all enhancers, you just put what it takes effect and as it tends to leave the flatter her coming out of this machine. For me the best settings:
Center 7, Space 3.5 TruBass of 4 and 3 Voiceclarity on the real big sound, ideal for mastering or broadcast, it outperforms many plug'in SRS because the process is truly amazing. Genial in the mix of sound fx loops of drums or synths or even (I know some studios in Germany who use it to make mixes of techno or synth bass on electros is really huge).

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for 3 years in my mixes.
I love the sound processed by SRS Megawide, however we really tend to put too much! Currently lack a full digital version.
Yes, I try to bcp other elargiseurs stereo or studio, or broadcast and also a lot of references Plug'ins but really about the SRS spacialisation excel them all.
Excellent value for money.
If it again, I do it again no problem.
