The Tech21 RK5 and the OMG overdrive Richie Kotzen Signature models have been tested by the artist on stage during his tour with Winery Dogs and his solo tour, before their release late November or early December by Tech21.
Appart from its red finish and Richie Kotzen signature on the front plate, the RK5 replaces the Plexi distortion section with the new OMG signature overdrive. This overdrive reproduces the effect from Class A tube amps and features level, tone and drive knobs.
The RK5 retains from the Fly Rig 5 the SansAmp model which is preset for clean sounds with a 3-band active EQ, level and Drive (gain/overdrive) controls, the vintage reverb based on the Boost RVB, the delay with tap tempo based on the Boost DLA and the Boost that adds up to 21dB of gain.
The RK5 signal path is fully analog, the reverb and delay are mixed in parallel. The unit ships with a universal “Auto-Switching” 12V DC 100V-240V power supply.
If you already own the Fly Rig 5 or only want the overdrive section of the RK5, Tech21 will also release the OMG in an individual stompbox with extended controls: Girth mid boost/cut and a 28dB boost knob with dedicated footswitch.
The pedal is fully analog and is powered by a 9V DC battery or optional supply.
