Ibanez TS5 Tube Screamer

This pedal is like most others - it has the standard 1/4" in and out. Controls are volume, tone, and drive. Has a stomp switch for on and off, which feels extremely flimsy. Cheapo plastic housing. I'm marking off for the housing and switch, but I realize in making them out of plastic, Ibanez makes the product more affordable.

UTILIZATION

The TS5 is an extremely simple unit. It is your basic Tube Screamer pedal. It is very easy to use - plug in, step on it, and wail! Not much rocket surgery to be performed here - it is very straightforward. It will provide signal boost, extra sustain, and more gain.

SOUND QUALITY

This sounds great on guitars and bass. My favorite use for this pedal is to experiment with modifications! I "circuitbent" this, and got some out of this world fuzz tones, interesting bit-crushing type gated sounds, and a very vocal tone sweep. So it is fantastic for that.

However, most people will use it as a standard overdrive box, and it's not bad at that - it is warm, round, and lets the notes sing just a bit. It seems like a very small tube amp that's cranked - it has that nice note-bloom quality. It can be a touch muddy, but that's expected at this price, right?

OVERALL OPINION

As a stock box, my opinion is mixed. The sounds are good, but the housing stinks! I'd never want to take this to a gig as-is because I fear that the plastic would shatter from repeated stompings. The pedal has not been made for a while, and I wish Ibanez would reissue it in an upgraded housing.

When modded, the sounds are FANTASTIC, and I just ended up rehousing mine anyways. I'd buy another again for cheap just to mod, but not to keep stock.

The sound is easy to find.
The connection is through the bottom of the pedals, which is often convenient for cables or dclabler quickly when needed!

SOUND QUALITY

It is my opinion the best sounding overdrive of the plant and the rest of the universe!
Some find that lack of gain, but this is not done for any dchirer. is the grain, and prsence is used in all styles.

The highlight of the tube screamer SERIES is not dnaturer the sound of your guitar! You always hear frquences types of instrument!
With double coils (Les paul type) or large single (like Fender Jazzmaster) obviousness puts a lump in the lower mdium just enchrir dj sound exceptional!

OVERALL OPINION

More on sale today (replacing the TS7) the economic NT5 silent version of legendary TS9 (box mtal). And have fun ds that make the comparison possible. This little wonder is not ashamed of the comparison, even if the output level and reliability mcanique are certainly higher for the legendary big sister!

Low-budget edition of the TS9, which at that time was no longer produced.

-Very cheap plastic shell (this pedal was given at the time, it was part of the series soundtank).. Pretty crappy plastic knobs.
It all sounds very fragile for stage use intense.

UTILIZATION

-Three knobs: level, tone, simple as that you gain.plus meurs.les two major config:
A fully-volume / low gain: clean boost
2-low volume / gain a background: overdrive
recess any other setting is between these two extrême.mais all this is very accessible.

SOUND QUALITY

-Effect efficace.Dans very family-roots super overdrive light is very good.
Ma config: tube amp reissue Deluxe Reverb 65 + stratocaster classic series 50 and 60 mark knopfler.pas or other effects (apart from the reverb of the amp.).
-The sounds, the guitar is not "buried" under tons of gain means the type of guitar in question, a Start is a Start, a TV a TV etc ...
in clean boost is a (fairly accurately) the SRV on his solo "my little china girl" by David Bowie is bursting with dynamics, the notes are shrill with long sustain.
At max gain, it was the history of blues and rock music, authentic sounds that can cradifié in the registers according to the treble or bass tone control.
Excellent for lead, riffs and a bit messy in powerchords.
So a game alternating rhythmic counterpoint riffs and arrangements becomes important here.
Nothing but good for fans of blues-rock.
NB: not able to compare it with the TS

OVERALL OPINION

-I play with for 10 years, is a natural extension of my little blackface (it is always connctée.).
It allows me to saturate the tube amp at low volumes with its creamy and enjoyable.
In short, with a Start and a blackface is the dream team. (But it should be even better with the TS9 or 808 ... °

I am a big fan of overdrive, and I like a lot of TS in the series Ibanez: TS9, ts9dx, TS10, TS5 ..
