Value For Money : Excellent
Maxon OD 808 Overdrive including 1 IN, 1 OUT, 1 socket for power supply externally 9v negative center.
It has 3 settings:
- Tone: It affects the overall tone.
- Overdrive: Acts on the rate of overdrive that goes from almost nothing a lot.
- Balance: In the first half of its travel, it is nothing less than a master volume, and once spent half, it mixes with the sound effect and one without. Great for creating subtle sounds and light, unlike the "very bottom". Once at the half, the volume is identical to the bypassed regarding my config 'and my game volume (loud enough anyway ^ ^)

7 / 10: It's classic, simple but effective, no trimming bass / mid / TREB but it's not a preamp anyway!

UTILIZATION

Operation is very simple since there are few settings.
Nothing to report!
The manual offers some examples of settings for 2 minutes understand the operation of this simple overdrive. The manual is in English, but it is rather easy to understand, even without that.

9 / 10: it is simple.

SOUND QUALITY

This is the first pedal I listen with no synthetic sound indeed ... The sound is natural, very natural for a distortion pedal / overdrive, but still I hear a little bit it's a pedal, but I admit that Maxon has been very strong! It's all good!

The sound is warm, soft, not too fat (reasonable limits).

Used alone, it will boost the slight of his clean to AC DC.
Used on the channel distortion of the amp, it adds a little niak for solos (sustain and gain) but this use care not to push too trimmings under penalty of background noise (normal!). The sound gets a bit fatter too so watch your config ': Personal I use a guitar "fat" (Les Paul Custom), an amp "precise" (VHT) and a baffle "precise" as well (VHT) that Maxon fact that goes well with my setup.

8 / 10: The background light on boosted channel can interfere a bit ... Go let's say 8.5!

OVERALL OPINION

This pedal is a "must-have" that every guitarist has to have, because even if he does not use it, it's a collector.

The pedal sounds great, very even, not plastic! And it's for me for me closest to the ac dc ... ^ ^ I tried a lot of tips, Boss, MXR GT OD, a visual sound, ... I never kept a single distortion pedal in the final ...
I tend to saturation of the amplifier, you will understand, but the OD 808 is the exception to my rule. Especially since the price / quality ratio is really good: 130euros for a natural sound, it's price to pay? For me the answer is clear: it is not.

I would do this choice. 10/10.

The quality of manufacturing and screen printing is most excellent!
