Celemony Melodyne DNA

Celemony's Melodyne DNA (Direct Note Access) is the newest tuning and sound manipulation plug-in available from the company. It is also the most advanced program out there to date, giving users the ability to split up individual notes within previously recorded chords. Before it was only possible to shift and tune audio that had a single voice involved, with DNA you can now manipulate individual notes in a guitar chord or any other type of sound. I don't own DNA yet, as the version I've used was at a professional recording studio, so I can't speak too much about the installation process. However, there were no compatibility issues as it runs fine on the system that we have. The interface of DNA is very similar to previous versions of Melodyne, so those with experience with these older versions will have a leg up on the interface for sure. It incorporates the new features pretty well, without having made any drastic interface changes. I haven't had a need to check out the manual, but it wouldn't be a bad idea to have it around if you're new to programs like this.

SUITABILITY/PERFORMANCE

I've used Celemony Melodyne DNA on a Pro Tools HD system, used as a plug-in. You can also use it through rewire with other software or as a stand alone piece of software, but I've only used it as a plug-in in Pro Tools. I only used one instance of the plug-in at a time, as I print everything right after I'm done with it to another track. However, since I'm running it on an HD system, I don't think that it would be a problem if I wanted to keep a few of them open at a time. If you've got an LE system or something similar, I'd recommend starting out using one instance at a time to see how your system reacts...

OVERALL OPINION

As far as what Celemony Melodyne DNA can actually do, it's pretty powerful stuff. It is the same user friendly interface as previous users will recognize, but with the new Direct Note Access feature, it enhances the abilities of the plug-in a great deal. The sound is generally smooth when using DNA, but I imagine that it will only get better in the versions to come, as this is first of its kind available. It doesn't cost all that much money to buy DNA, and even less to upgrade, so if you're thinking about it I'd recommend giving it a shot. If you aren't going to buy DNA, I would still recommend that all engineers out there at least give it a whirl when possible, as this is an exciting new tool available to us...

bought upon its release a few weeks ago

the price is ridiculous compared to the characteristics

this is THE program to have in a home studio

the possibilities of direct access notes are terrible,

do scan a piano for example and see the notes that appear separately

it is then possible to change the notes, correct mistakes, improve velocity, height, etc. ...

the program is expected for years that will revolutionize the way we work music

attention, if you enter a symphony, do not expect that the program analyzes all
instruments and write scores, the latest may be ...

to my knowledge there is no other program of its kind on the market

Like all software - AC installs easy.
on the other hand must iLok (and must be purchased separately.
You must register on the site and give all the info license.
It is frankly tedious - it's all in English and it takes time.
The only advantage is being able to use Melodyne on any PC (ultilisant the iLok).
So Me - it's really not that great - you really want to buy this software (I have done elsewhere)
I just log into the site ilok .... and it does not recognize my key
It is frankly a) unpleasant b) huge waste of time
I buy this app for making music - and not to waste time with paranoia.

SUITABILITY/PERFORMANCE

I have a PC not very new HP Compaq dual-core 2 Ghz 4 Gb ram.
There is ample and using LIVE I can easily work in parallel with Celemony.
He arrived some crash - but this is rare - and therefore good stability

OVERALL OPINION

It's frankly awesome and excellent quality - it's downright stunning how much we can alter the harmony and any associated parameters.
