Celemony has released Version 4 of its audio software Melodyne, announced as the most extensive update ever to the entire Melodyne product family.

Highlights include the Sound Editor with its totally new sound design possibilities, DNA Direct Note Access – at last, on an unlimited number of tracks – and ultra-accurate tempo detection. While most efforts concern the flagship Studio version, the smaller Melodyne editions – editor, assistant and essential – have also been enhanced.

Melodyne 4 Studio features a new sound editor, allowing to edit recorded sounds in a more musical and detailed way, from the subtle enhancement of envelopes and timbres to the manipulation of overtones, resynthesis and radical experiments in sound design. Melodyne recognizes the notes and their overtones, and while conventional equalizers only act upon fixed frequencies, Melodyne adapts to the audio material itself, making it possible to adjust the level of individual overtones within each track, shape the basic sound of each instrument, relate the timbre or envelope of each note to its pitch, bring out the character of each sound source.

Melodyne 4 Studio also allows to work on an unlimited number of tracks – even with DNA Direct Note Access for polyphonic material. This also makes the use of macros even more useful as they’re not confined to a single track.

Also included in Melodyne 4 are new, more accurate tempo algorithms, two algorithms optimized for polyphonic recordings, the Universal Algorithm designed for the time-stretching and pitch-shifting of entire mixes, and an enhanced workflow with more assignable keyboard shortcuts.

Melodyne 4 Studio offers all Melodyne functions for both correction and creative applications on an unlimited number of tracks. You can edit the sound and musical content of your recordings in an intuitive manner or make far-reaching changes with no other audio tool. Its MSRP is €699.

Melodyne 4 Editor offers all the key Melodyne functions for the correction and creative editing of individual tracks. Including DNA Direct Note Access for polyphonic audio and ultra-precise tempo-detection and -editing. MSRP: €399.

Melodyne 4 Assistant doesn’t include the editing of polyphonic audio material nor certain other functions found in the larger editions, but it offers the full Melodyne toolkit with the same sound quality. It mainly aims monophonic and rhythmic audio material. Price is €249.

Melodyne 4 Essential contains Melodyne’s Main Tool for the basic editing of pitch and timing, offering a simple and economical entry into the world of Melodyne. It is also possible to upgrade from to one of the larger editions simply by paying the difference in price. MSRP: €99.

Also, all users who registered their Melodyne after Nov 1, 2015, get the update to Version 4 free of charge.

More details available at Celemony’s website, and certainly even more details to follow during our NAMM coverage.
