Everything happens simply and easily. No inconsistency.
SUITABILITY/PERFORMANCE
I have an old single core XP config and therein lies the problem: the app is ultra-resource hungry especially if multiple delay / reverb. I guess it does not pose much problem if you have a plane by gamer cons on a laptop or worse on a netbook with characteristics similar to my bike, you can use it in standalone or with a single occurrence in a software host. It is stable and cons it does not crash ever at home.
OVERALL OPINION
I use Guitar Rig since its first version and I have always agreed, despite its many flaws. Must say I'm part of the target: I play almost exclusively in its clear, I traffic a lot and I like the sound reverbs and delays. For this, filters strange GR modulators, various types of reverb and Psychedelay are ideal. routing possibilities are fantastic. The control room really brings more to simply refine the sound. What really fishing in GR I think they are very saturated sounds, emulating mesa, the reward is not really convincing in "modern", though not as good as my ToneLab example.
Rammstein guitarist in a video channel on youtube Native Instruments said something very true: one of the great strengths of guitar rig is to allow testing of very complex configuration without spending two shots (he took the example of 'Ultrasonic he triturated weeks to buy a Uberschall to play on stage) ... You have found the sound that suited you? It is not hard: you recopies your config and you'll buy the GR corresponding hardware with minimal risk to get it wrong ... Because it's not buy you a Bassman like to buy you a multi zoom in, you can not do it every week so far have tested a lot before the case ...
If you want to realize what we can do with guitar rig, listen to this album Accelera Deck called "pop polling" - it is only the guitar and digital processing, I do not know not what software it uses cons but the guy sounds that pulls easily from RM are close to what he does.
In total, I would say if you're a nerd fan of the hack guitar sound that you use as a rhythmic element of your digital music the clicks generated by a reverse delay which we change the delay time by sudden jumps that you love Slowdive, My Bloody Valentine guitarist and your reference is Thruston Moore, and you have a tough setup, it's for you. on the other hand, if you prefer the crunch sounds realistic or large distortion that spot you should also try something else (AmpliTube, Revalver, TH1)
In fact, super special mention for the quality of the looper, which by its multiple functions controllable by a floorboard and intuitiveness of its outstanding use underground presses all the competition Jamman hardware type.
Small update of 1/12/2010: I now have a Rig Kontrol 2, the external controller and dedicated it makes even more interesting GR4 and intuitive, especially in the use of the looper. The onboard sound of thunder and work allows me to move with just the laptop, the RK and my guitar ... Excellent!
