The Shattered Glass Audio SGA1566 in v2
Shattered Glass Audio released version mkII of its tube preamp emulation SGA1566, but beware, for you’ll have to pay to get it.
The first version of the SGA1566 was available as a freeware (we talked about it in a previous Friday’s Freeware news), but the mkII version, with some interesting additions, costs $29.99. The plug-in is designed to add warmth to the sound, as a compressor would do, or on the opposite to saturate the signal and get a dirtier sound.
The SGA1566 mkII features a Baxandall-type two-band active EQ that can be bypassed or set pre- or post-preamp and you can choose between mono and stereo operations.
Oversampling in this version was increased from 4x to 8x and is completed with two types of filters.
Both free and paid versions of the VST and AU plug-in for Mac OS X and Windows are available at www.shatteredglassaudio.com.
