Following a new problem with my DAT TCD-D8, I DCID to change recorder and I chose the Marantz PMD-671.

Ngatifs points: microphone inputs are too low (S / N 65db) and the device consumes a lot of energy (especially if phantom power is used for microphones). I do not know they have t o look for 6 hours ... even in between line (using a pre-amp collection outdoor) do not count on more than three hours of battery life with 8 LR6. The Ni-nh are highly recommended ...
Another ngatif: the price of compact flash cards is fairly lev. It takes more than 180 euros for a 2GB card (2:50 check-in 16-bit 48khz, WAVE). On the other ct no need either to have 36 cards ... especially if one has a laptop to load. For now I turn with two 2GB cards.
The shell is hard plastic, but it should not be any evidence of robustness.
In conclusion, it is a recorder INTERESTED provided you have a pre-amp quality of collection outdoor (I myself use of the Aeta PSP3), especially if you want to make the decision- the wilderness (in my case) ... The line between (RCA connectors) has an S / N ratio of 95db.
It should also prvoir lot of rechargeable batteries!
