« Handy for work ... »
Published on 02/21/13 at 04:41Small amp simulator such as Vox AC30 its name suggests, to work with the headphones can send an auxiliary source (iPod or other) via mini jack 3.5.
3 dials settings: gain, tone, volume.
A 3.5 mini jack output for headphones (or mini speaker etc ...).
Alim by 2 AAA batteries (the size just below LR6).
Note that the range is very good I think.
UTILIZATION
We can no longer easy to use.
One branch (note that it is made in nickel strat guy, a little less convenient on the way Gibson guitars where the entrance is on the edge ...), it turns on, you set the gain, tone, volume and plays.
We could assess the possibility via a small button switch from one mode to a mode perfectly clean big crunch to avoid having to juggle gain ... Especially it should not be hard to do ...
SOUND QUALITY
Well, this is obviously not a real amp!
But the sound is pretty good considering the price and the convenience and plug & play of the machine.
I think a big preference for simple microphone I found (it could recall the original Vox want ... Is what they did on purpose? I do not know!)
HB with even more vintage output level, it crashes too much and it becomes a slurry from which the gain up too ... it will also raise the tone as one ascends the gain or the sound becomes too dull (and a quality headset is also recommended to have a better record of course ...).
Personally, I chose this one because at the time I bought it was that the AC30, the Amplug Classic Rock and Metal dunno what to ... And it was only able to have a real clear sound while keeping the gain at less than half ...
Since then, other models were released, including a clean fender oriented I think ...
In any case, with my strat position HB splitted it sounds good enough to work for cleans small nice crunch.
OVERALL OPINION
I use it regularly for work pénard at home in the evening or another, and when I go on holidays or weekends, because it takes up no space.
Very convenient to send an auxiliary audio source, I glued a backing track playlist in my ipod and with that I can work pieces as it should.
I just regret as I said earlier versatile little side my stuff which is not his top if you push too much gain, and even more with double microphones.
I do not get why Vox did not try to do something so "2 channels" with a clean channel remain almost 100% even with the gain pushed, and another with her a little more crunch or Vox Classic Rock without it drooling ... Maybe to encourage guitarists to buy several models for several Amplug sounds?!!
A good product handy so that obviously not break bricks but at the same time gives us the price we pay him I think.
I remake the same choice for my use clean it suits me and it really makes service.
