I had always had a bad image of Gibson, following a bad experience with a special Les Paul bought 1,500 euros in 2001 sold after 4 days so i was from. Well, this little SG faded completely changed my opinion 700 eurosdans the shop downstairs from me (I rarely buys online). Party to buy me unefender lonestar (I dj 3), the seller afait me try this SG. A WONDER. Natural finish, almost without varnish, ultra fast heat, sound saturated cry! I tried on a standard SG, see anything, varnish makes it less fast neck and sound seems to be smothered by too thick varnish. For microphones and finishes are the same except the varnish and the fact that the standard is equipped hood chrome! 500 euros for a little polish and Chroms hoods is even curious when Mr. Gibson ...

USE

The handle large parat, rude miracle unplayable but when you put your fingers on it is a thousand times better than fender! The touch is soft (thank you key in bne) the game so fast and easy. The best round I got under the fingers ... and yet I have thirty guitar. The access to acute is of ease dconcertante, the guitar does not sting the nose unlike Epiphone and Toka I tried.
If you have two neurons, you will get the same magic on a crappy amp!

SONORITS

At departure, if you are accustomed to a fender, you surprised by your presence bass. In his clear, it's a bit Gnant, less than a fender when one is not accustomed it's not a guitar to play the Goldman! Rather of its roots. Ds but we put a bit of overdrive, the guitar becomes a killer! It sings the screaming bends, guitar vibrates! Nothing to do with EMG, 490 Gibson is a thousand times better, and finally if you are a fan of Santana, ZZ Top, The Doors, Stones etc ... It is lighter than Lespaul has reminds me my lot DNG (bought 13,000 francs or 2,000 euros in 1992). The best sound I ever got saturated in it's beautiful cry.
The best guitar I have ever heard in overdrive and saturated (the fender are not bad but a notch below)



NOTICE GLOBAL

I need me ADOPTED, this is the third guitar I buys in two weeks but I think I've found my companion, I will be faithful to him all my life. Really, this guitar is discreet, it is not make-up like a flying jalopy but a queen.
I dconseille for beginners because this guitar deserves better than coarse fingers! She deserves a good guitarist who knew lots of other guitars and will love him and chrir.

Everything has already been said but I think little reminder:
-Body And mahogany neck (the SGJ have the maple neck)
-key Rosewood (from summer 2011 Gibson would have happened to the maple roasted for reasons of legality in its purchases of wood)
-micros 490 '(these are alnico II, they equip the BB King Lucille among others ...)
-L'électronique Is a plate on which the microphones are clipped ... (it looks neat and clean)
The finish is very fine polish and breathable wood, personally I love this side "roots", it fits perfectly with the blues-rock spirit ...
I bought the guitar used, mini stripes give it a nice vintage look ...

USE

The neck is amazing, I had not played in a long time SG, I like ST Models I almost exclusively played for several years, then taking the ILI is surprised by the easy access to acute. ..if I put my hands on the handle I get the 8th box where a strat 'hand would be at the 5th fret ... the handle seems longer ...
The profile is more rounded than the Start ', another nice feeling but ... (I have to say that I began to prefer the feel of the handle of the SG to that of a Strat')
I quickly got used to the heat.
The guitar seems firm and serious built (it is !!!)
The mechanical tuning hold well, no complaints on that !!! (I do not see the need to change mechanical for more upscale ...)

SOUNDS

For a long time I thought that was the Stratocaster guitar that suited me most, I wanted to try a new Gibson (I had a std SG that did not make me more effect than the SG faded it was over ... only better), and there I really fell in love with this guitar!
I recently bought a Vox AC15C1 and I thought that the combination with a Gibson SG would be perfect for the blues ... and yes it is !!!
Some do not like the microphones 490 'but personally I find really great for blues-rock, the output level is not huge (7,94k the handle and 8,21k bridge) but they sound really "vintage" and articulated, not smothered with a level really came out higher than on a strat standard usa.
It's hard to describe the sound of a guitar, it is best to try and listen on youtube demonstrations (some are really well done)
What I can say is that I love the sound it out, really in the spirit Gibson for blues-rock ... and with an AC15 is the whole spirit of the old blues rock that found!




NOTICE GLOBAL

So I have this guitar recently and for the price it costs used is really surprising to have a guitar so well constructed, ok no finish with thick varnish, but again I will say that this is exactly what I like about this guitar ... although we feel the wood and I prefer this rather than feel the veneer of an std ... (matter of taste ... but are std beautiful instruments, but that can not bear the marks aesthetically ... I prefer the aesthetics of a faded with small SOFC, scratch rather than std with CSWS and scratches on the varnish ... the faded be a vintage look and std be a jaded look ... so for me the best ages faded on this principle ...).
New SGJ seem to have a thinner body (shame! The SG is already a fine original guitar ...), they also have a maple neck, a Gibson SG for me it is rather a mahogany neck even if they have already used Maple for the sleeves in the past ... So I think the faded is more consistent with what can be expected of a SG ... but SGJ ring may very well too, so far I would choose again faded rather than SGJ ... (even if only because of the thickness of the body, we like to buy a SG that is the size of a SG, looking at the pictures the SGJ on thomann the horns of the guitar seems very, too thin because of the thinner body).
The faded is a real Gibson SG with a finish "roots" ... you will understand I love this guitar!
So I noted that guitar up because of its value and the sound (without looking at the price!).
This is the kind of guitar with which we want to make a long long way ... and with the years and patina, experience ... it will have an even nicer look more vintage ... !! !dropoff window

I bought 900 euros before falling prices, but the dollar goes so prices will go up too- Gibson morality: o the price is about the current web: throw at you! It is the business of the century ...
The manufacturing quality is top, the guitar is even more beautiful with its varnish "buffer" as standard, level sonority is more bluesy than the standard, more roots and rson better.
Indeed, the absence of large polyester varnish makes it sounding, more nervous than a standard SG.

Nothing wrong, the finish is bleuffante for the price asked.
It has more character against a standard SG, it is more typ roots ... I put 10/10


USE

We must get used to the Gibson round and round off with short scale, this is not an Ibanez! But it is ideal to play rock and blues, and after a week I was playing my solos faster than my Fender Stratocaster. This is the ideal guitar for bend ...

It is exactly the same as a standard SG violin.
The difference lies on the handle (not overlay) the varnish (layer less than the standard), and microphones.

This is a U.S.. Say it right now, it is a Gibson SG and for possessing the Standard, I'll try to be as objective as possible.

When choosing a SG, this is primarily for its easy handling and access to particular frequencies. But also, we will appreciate its weight lighter.

Regarding the settings, a volume knob and a tone knob for each microphone (490R and 490T).

And its vintage look gives it a charm and the rest, I mean the sound goes with it, and I'll post.

So 10/10 for its features because we do not ask more for a guitar.

UTILIZATION

A really convenient handle and a Quick Start (22 frets). The typical form of the fact that the SG is good with a very good balance, and lightness enhances its maneuverability.

Followers solos are always delighted. This is my fourth SG faded, one I had equipped pickups Gibson 500T and 496R. What made it a good punchy SG with such microphones.

But the one I just bought will remain entirely original. Earlier, I referred to the standard that it is painted with a micro bridge a little more powerful (498T). But in the end, the sound faded reveals a much more natural, more aggressively. You really feel that there are more layers of varnish to muffle the sound too. And I am very sensitive to ergonomics and finish, I must say that the lack of polish does not an SG at a discount. And then, months have raspy hands, slide the handle alone.

Simply plug it into a good amp and it is on an old Fender or Marshall else (but I do not forget all the other brands ...), it sounds immediately as it should.

10/10 here too, because the SG is known for its ease of handling.

SOUNDS

You can play any style of music, although his favorite is the rock and good saturation. But being a good little blues is a treat, and play with the volume knob is a breeze.

In fact, I sometimes play without plugging. And even empty, as it is full of energy, we feel that it is made to please us.

For my part, I play mainly on the micro bridge, but lost with the micro neck from time to time makes me think it is quite attractive.

The SG has a typical sound and very personal. I love it, and as others swear by Les Paul, the SG remains for me the guitar fetish. It is as if you were talking with someone who you would feel immediately much sincerity. Well, this guitar is quite right. It shows you immediately what she is able to provide. That is a lot!!

As said earlier, I decided to give him his original pickups because they fit him so well. So ... 10/10 sound level, no problem.

OVERALL OPINION

So I use the SG faded for many years and I'm tired. And I'm talking about his so-called fragility. Sure, the lack of polish weakens a bit. My Faded SG still remained intact for the little we take the minimum of care (a guitar does not throw and is delicately ...).
Over time, she slips a bit and that's all the more charming.

I respect the purists "GIBSONNIENS" which are very sensitive to the finish at the same time the quality, but at age 46 (and many years of guitar), I understand that we should not necessarily put 2000 3000 euros or a guitar to burst out and SOUND.

I redid the choice for this guitar several times and I still do it again, because with a price / quality ratio like that, well as incredible is the foot.

Already available new, we find at truly affordable prices used, and it is as beautiful version in Worn Cherry Brown.

I wanted a gibson long ... I bought it used not very expensive, I am not disappointed!
I have not had the opportunity to compare it with more upscale models, but this one suits me very well. It has become my main guitar

Note that the guitar does not have a thick varnish, allowing better vibration of the wood, and "choking" the less sound, although many will find it less aesthetic and more hits mark (mine already has a part of the painting that has crossed the finish suddenly it gives a little "relic" but the natural ^ ^)
I put a good score because we feel the seriousness of Gibson, even on a "low end" (for them, for me it's the best I have for now ^ ^) there is a concern detail. Nickel frets, inlaid markers well. The manufacturing quality is there, even if it's a guitar very "roots"!

For sounds, I really do not know how to record because I have very quickly changed tes 490 mics that suited me NOT AT ALL, I found drafts, pêchus enough, sharp enough, it did not brief and I was very disappointed.
I replaced them with Gibson P94 (bridge and neck) and ca there was the miracle! All my "sound problems" were resolved. Punch, clarity, crystal clear sound, great crunch, many serious, a real success!
I play funk with all the womanizing, heavy riffs that rock / metal!
Without notes, "because with the micro base, I would put 3 or 4 and after change, I would put 9 or 10!

OVERALL OPINION

* I use it for several years now (4 or 5) and it is currently (in 2012) still my main guitar!
Both on stage and in the studio, I am delighted to its sounds, and with all types of amps really, I found "my sound" every time.
* I have not tried other models before buying it because I bought it on eBay, I flashed on the color (and yes ... ^ ^)
* The feature that I love most: THE SOUND! Really, I find it hard to play on other guitars behind, especially since I've customized a lot (P94 pickups Grover + + + changes knobs personal trussrod cover).
* The feature that I like least: The holding of approximate agreement, oddly I have to re-tune often enough, maybe AC ​​can be set at a luthier? Never tested.
* Value for money: SUPER! That you ca be used as a second guitar, basic customization, or even as is, you've got a great guitar for quite cheap now (mostly secondhand), with a radical look and finish roots!

I got bought this guitar from a local shop by my house.

i love this guitar because it can look just like an older guitar from the 70's but really it dosent matter how it looks its how it sounds and feel and belive me it feels and sounds awsome. and you can total customize it. alot of people say that the SG is only for hard rock and metel but i replaceed the pickups. with 57 humbuckers and now i can play the hardest of rock and the bluest of blues.

well from what i see only 1 out of every 5 of these things have a really good finish all the others have just a reagular finish luckyly i got a good one. but trust me its nothin to worrie about.

I paid £499 GBP from Sound Control in Glasgow. I ordered this over the phone after seeing it advertised on special offer.

Firstly I love the design of the SG and its probably my favourite guitar of all. I owned an Epiphone SG400 before because at the time I couldnt afford a Gibson and to me this was the natural set up. I love playing the SG because all parts of the neck are so accessible and its a really comfortable and easy guitar to play. It has two 490 series humbuckers which produce just the sound I like and are perfect for blues/hard rock. I play Black Sabbath, Led Zep, Deep Purple etc but I am in a band that plays more punky and modern style numbers but this is still perfect for the job. When you wind down the gain for softer numbers it still sounds sweet and soulful too.

In retrospect I wish I'd saved up a bit more and bought a better colour. Mine is in Faded Cherry which is ok if you like the "vintage" look but I'd personally prefer the wine red or solid cherry colours. I don't like the uncovered pickups personally, mainly because they look tacky because you can see where they've got insulation tape wound round them. You can tell this is the base model, they don't even give you a truss rod cover with "SG" written on it!

Gibson build quality is faultless as far as I'm concerned. The wood and finish is of a superb quality and the fittings such as machine heads, pickups, pickup switches, tone controls etc etc are all built, fitted and finished to a very high standard indeed. This may be the base model of its class but it still benefits from the high standards of the entire Gibson range.
The dot inlays on my guitar were not finished perfectly, as the wood from the fretboard overlapped the circles by a tiny amount, but this is a minor issue.

I'll try to summarise the guitar with respect to both my opinions, and to the point of view of someone looking to buy an SG without having owned one before.
This guitar is an excellent choice if you want to upgrade from a cheaper brand or perhaps are looking for something a little different, say if you've only played Strats or Teles. This is because its of excellent predigree and build quality and will last you a lifetime of playing. Its a lovely guitar to play and is fairly versatile with respect to the sounds you can produce with it, although it is best of bluesy rock. Although the Les Paul is I suppose tonally superior the SG is far lighter and more pleasant to play. If this were stolen/lost/destroyed I'd maybe not get exactly the same model but I'd definatley get another Gibson SG.

Portland Music (oregon) $600 found it for like $20 cheaper here and really wanted that USA tag

I love this guitar! First off it feels so comfortable standing or sitting. the pickups are great for the money. All of the knobs feel sturdy. The neck is fat but I can still navigate just fine. it sounds great on just about any amp. and is just a blast to play!! I do not ever have an issue with it getting out of tune and when it does it is easy to tune.

I can't say I disslike anything. maybee the neck beeing a little to fat. but just get used to it and it isn't a problem.

The quality is great. I havn't had anything break or any dings, and I bring it to and from school everyday in a gig bag (which was prvided )

The best deal on the market PERIOD. this guitar looks great sounds great is fun to play and you cant go wrong with a USA gibson.

I bought this for around 499 bucks at guitar center in MN

I LOVE the sound it makes,it is great for lead and for rhythm players! you can get some amazing leads from this amazing guitar!!!!!

NOthing at all.....except maybe the the tape around the pickups and the color brown it comes in (always get the red one)but no technical problems at all.

It is really sturdy and the quality is great i plan on keeping this my whole life!And i know that it will last that long!

Two words sum up this guitar!!!! BUY IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU WONT EVER WANT A NEW GUITAR (WELL MAYBE A LES PAUL ) BUT IT IS GREAT!aND I PERSONALLY THINK THE FADEDD SOUNDS AS GOOD OR BETTER THAN THE NON-FADED FOR MUCH LESS!!!!

I bought this guitar from Musiciansfriend.com for $599. It came with a nice little gig-bag, but I also bought a hardshell case since I want this guitar to last long and stay in good shape. It looked like the best deal out there for a Gibson, so I went for it.

First of all, it's made in the USA. The SG body design is awesome and has a sinister look to it. It produces an incredible sound, and the set neck provides great sustain.

There really ins't anything, except around the pickups there is a very cheap looking tape, but that shouldn't affect the performance.

It's a very solid guitar, and you won't believe how light it is! An awesome faded finish that looks cool all the time and you won't even need to clean it since you can't leave fingerprints on it.

This is the best choice of guitar for it's price range. I'm glad that I decided to purchase this guitar. I play metal, hardcore, metalcore, punk rock, and even classic rock. This guitar can pull it off.

The Gibson craftmanship is no exception on this series. The Mahogany used is beautiful, mine hase a Ebony fret board with moon inlays. Very nice guitar. Great for blues, hard rock and roll. If you looking to thrash Metallic licks, you might want to look elsewhere. The pick-ups are nice and hot, but not as crunchy as my Les Paul. More mellow. If you have a SG and a Les Paul you will be set. Thats all you need, along with a strat.

The neck is a little soft. Not to bad, just have to tune frequently it if your gonna play long, hard sets. For the most part it stays in tune in the typical Gibson fashion.

Typical Gibson quality. Great construction. The only downside is the cheap looking tape around the humbuckers.

Overall, for the money you can't beat it in my opinion. I play classic rock, blues, Zepeelin type stuff, and with the right amp, this is a typical high end Gibson(no custom shop) with less time spent on the finish. After all, the finish contributes a ton to the cost. The pick ups and hardware are the same on this guitar as most of the other mass produced models. I would recommend to someone who doesn't have $1100+ to buy a Gibson, to shop and find a good SG Faded. Mine came out of the Gibson Box with a factory set up, and I haven't change a thing. It's a great guitar.

purchuased over at hermes music in sa,tx. for about 560 dollars. Been interested in buying a gibson for a while, who isnt?

it looks good, it has the crescent moon inlays on the frets, comes with the gibson speed knobs, its got a nice paintjob,sounds great off the stacks. its a gibson!

it dents easily, doesnt have that hard shiny coating most guitars come with. i had to tweak the bridge a bit cos the action was really high. somebody over at gibson is slacking.
