Blue Microphones enCORE 300

The Blue Microphones enCore 300 Series Microphone is a live setting mic. I have been around many people that have used this microphone in a lot of different venues and it has sounded great everywhere. Do not use this microphone for recording in a studio environment. A lot of people who beg to differ with me on that, but the enCore 300 will not excel in a studio situation. Keep it live and you see just how good this condenser is. It is also a handheld microphone and is made to be used that way, though you can also put it on a stand. But if you are looking for a stationary microphone only , then I would not choose the enCore 300.


OVERALL OPINION

My favorite thing about this microphone and why I think so many bands use it is that it is good in so many different situations. It does not pick up any other instruments that are being played on stage. Its pick up pattern is pretty tight and you will need to be singing directly into the top cone of the microphone in order to get the best sound. I have used several other models of Blue Microphones but this would be one of the only live microphones I have used from them. I am happy that our band uses this every chance that we get, I have not heard any negative complaints yet. This microphone is very precise and straight forward, and the price is just right. For 199 dollars brand new you can afford to have several of these if you need them in your band. I have not found many live microphones that are this good and still affordable. The enCore 300 is built to handle all of the live setting noises that loud like all of the instruments and other vocalist on stage, not to mention the crowd noises. It is a must have.

The Blue Encore 300 is Blue's only hand held condenser microphone to date. This significantly makes it much more different than Blue's other entries into the market of the live vocal mic. The 100 and the 100i are both dynamics, and the 200 requires phantom power, but this is the only condenser in that field of use for Blue so far. Because of this, it is the black sheep of the Encore line. Black sheep implies that it is bad. It is certainly not. The Aria capsule is combined with a reinforced chassis and special circuitry to keep noise low, and the floating capsule mount minimizes the noise that comes from handling the mic. As a condenser microphone it has the biggest frequency range out of all of the Encore mics. This one starts down at a quite impressive 35 Hz but it ends up going all the way up to a pretty cool but otherwise boring number of 20,000 Hz. It is a cardioid microphone like the others, but then again, you see more condensers are cardioid mics anyway. At any rate, because it is not a dynamic mic like the others but a condenser, it is only correlatively natural that it would not be able to handle as much sound pressure. This is only advertised as being able to handle about 140 dB of sound pressure as opposed to the dynamics in the Encore line which can get up to 147 before distorting and incurring potential damage.

OVERALL OPINION

If you want a good idea of what the Encore 300 is for. Watch American Idol. They used the Encore 300 in the latest season. The Encore is a real singer's microphone. It soars and is incredibly airy without being harsh or sibilant. However, it is not an easy mic to use. Unless you already know how to sing. It is not forgiving to the voice at all like many of the other more ubiquitous microphones like the Shure SM58.

OVERALL OPINION

For two weeks I have, I also tt1 Prodipe a SM58 and Beta 87a, still surpasses widely the sound is great and the voice is made with lightweight power and sensitivity in the recording is very good too although it is not designed for but to live. A concern, however, we must be very careful microphone is super sensitive and feedback from any speed above a certain gain, really from scratch and gradually increase until occasional 0db, respect cardioid by putting further in front of the enclosure 180 degrees, very low cut seems advisable because the feedback from the grave, if not equalize frequency by frequency but I think those who could understand do not need this advice.
The fact remains that the resulting sound is to die pit, never heard the voices of people I know as well made. Hopefully this brand recontre the success it deserves.

OVERALL OPINION

Had an offer with Blue Microphone, a blue reactor purchased a 300 yet available. The choice was quickly made. Received in February 2013, used on a guitar. I loved it.

I have a TT1 prodipe (static, 4 times less ...) I'm happy with the Encore. The invoice is exemplary, the capsule is extremely well crimped and all seems less fragile than SM58. The coating is hard and does not seem afraid of scratches. Comes with a cloth bag + wig very attractive. (It counts!)

With little experience, the sound suits me perfectly. Used with pre-amps my profire 2626. No complaints.
