Crate GLX 1200 H Head
Published on 06/06/04 at 15:00I bought it at the guitar center for 439$.the built in effects and the gain sound lured me and made me sell my line 6 duoverb.
i play heavy metal, and it's all about the sound. this amp has a the sweetest gain sound. the effects are very handy and saved me alot of pedals, it is loud, i have a blue voodo 412sl cabinet with vintage speakers: it does sound like a tube amp with the evolution 5 preamp simulation. the clean channel using the effects produces a sparckeling sound.
I truly haven't come across any dislikes about this amp head .i 'm sure that there is alot of better amps out there but i was following crate closely and i did get well informed before i bought it. i can say that...…

it is fairly built ,nothing like soldano or marshall, but it is "water proof" or "road proof", never gave me any problems. meets my standards
this amp is the eighth wonder after the pyramids and the chinese wall.i love it and i 'm thinking of buying another exact pair for collection.i'm happy with it because it really defined the sound that i'm sherching for.

Crate GLX 1200H
Published on 12/26/03 at 15:00I bought the GLX 1200H head with the matching crate 4x12 120 watt cab. I paid 900 dollars for the package deal
Let me start by saying that I am an absolute perfectionist when it comes to researching my big purchases. After 3 solid months of studying on and playing different guitar amps I settled on the crate. I play in a 4 piece rock band and I needed an amp versitle enough to cover all the different types of rock that we play... I also needed an amp that sounded good enough to sell records at our shows. If this amp was stolen I would turn around and by the exact same amp to replace. I am absolutely happy with my amp which I have now owned, practiced and gigged with for 6 months. This...…

If this amp was stolen I would turn around and by the exact same amp to replace. I am absolutely happy with my amp which I have now owned, practiced and gigged with for 6 months. This unit is LOUD, it sounds great, it is perfect for my fender electric, and my ovation acoustic/electric. I love the distortion, I love the warmth of the clean channel. It is the best half stack you can by for under 1000 bucks. The onboard efx and channal tracking footswitch are cool, the lights look cool, and the mute button with on board tuner is a function that should be on every guitar amp because after using it on stage, I now couldn't live without it. This baby is my prized posession.
I like everything, but I guess I'd have to say that the onboard effects could probably be improved. About half of them are awesome, and then there are about 8 effects which are kinda cheesy.... like they don't sound natural enough. I love using the effects on my ovation acoustic though... I get the sweetest acoustic sounds you've ever heard using a little chorus and a little reverb and a little delay... all right there included with the amp
Very sturdy; I've had no problems whatsover, and I have to haul this thing around every weekend. Well built.
I love this amp. It is the best there is for under 1000. It is perfect.

Crate GLX1200H
Published on 11/16/03 at 15:00I ordered this unit through guitar center after reading so many great reviews. I had been trying to find a new guitar head for my stack and had gone through several brand trying to find a good one in the $400-500 Range. It came out to $439 with free shipping and took five business days to arrive.
I'll start off by saying that this amp just superb. It's got lots of power and doesn't distort at high volume. The amp has beautiful sound. Especially the distortion settings. I might as well sell my Metalzone because this thing does it all. The blending on the effects to all the channels is very well done. The controls are easy to use and the mute switch is great. The built-in tuner is AWESOME!! It makes life so much easier. The illumination display is great. You can completely control this amp in the dark.
There isn't really anything I don't dislike about this unit. The only thing things I think that would improve it would be that it had 2 speaker outs insead of one. But that can be worked around with dasiy chaining. Also, I think it would be good if this amp had an xlr out for DI. It's be good for people who want to use their amp to record but don't want to mic their stack. But like I said, these would only improve it the amp, not fix it.
Solid. The knobs have a nice rubber grip with illuminations on each knob. The amp doesn't even got warm, even after hours of high volume pounding. It's very efficient. It feels light and has a very solid handle to it, better than any I've ever seen. The carrying area in the back of the amp is great. I carry 4 sets of strings, a bag of picks, 2 speaker cords and two 18 foot cors in the back and there's still lots of room to go, as well they are held in there nicely.
This is the best pruchase I think I have every made on musical equipment. The great construction, beautiful sound, heavy power, compact design, built in muteswitch/tuner/lights are just phenomenal. And for the price, this amp is second to none.

Transistor amplifier with about 16 effects
Power of 120 watts
very convenient built-in tuner
Comes with a pedal to change channels (SOLO / RHYTHM / CLEAN) and cables to connect amp and pedals
Multiple settings for all styles of music, very professional material
UTILIZATION
The settings are very easy to use is very nice (can illuminate in red and select buttons)
4 LEDs for channel placement
The manual is not very full but again is very easy to use
We obtain the desired quickly (I play metal in general and black in particular) but the distortion is not sufficient to obtain a well cold and very heavy: a distortion pedal is essential!

We obtain the desired quickly (I play metal in general and black in particular) but the distortion is not sufficient to obtain a well cold and very heavy: a distortion pedal is essential!
The sound is very very clean and I was really amazed by comparison with other amps
SOUNDS
This amp is perfect for my style and would suit the other because I do not confine to play metal!
I play it with a BC Rich Warlock Platinum Pro 2003 and a Boss MT 2and the sound is very good.
I find that the channel "solo" does not bring anything to the rest.
Clean sound is crystalline without any known parasite
OVERALL OPINION
I use it for one month and I find excellent value for money.
I paid this amp € 425 instead of 895 € a German site with the cabinet and I do not regret that purchase at all
I am a student and I could not afford to buy a tube amp but this amp meets my expectations and those of my group!
