Hughes & Kettner Matrix 100 Head

Hughes and Kettner have some of the best sounding amplifiers on the planet. This a German company who designs high quality guitar amps for touring musicians and the average consumer. They guitar amps that range from just a few hundred dollars to several thousand.

Some big names have pickup amps from Hughes and Kettner including Alex Lifeson from the band Rush and Tommy Thayer from the band Kiss. Those two gentlemen have their own signature models but they have used been great artist for this company.

This amp is a solid state amp that has four channels. With a host of effects built right into the amp. You get s plethora of tonal options with this amp.

SOUNDS

There is a lot to this amp even though it may be a small solid state amp. There is four channels that all sound very good for this kind of amp. Each one gets you to where is claims to be. The clean is nice and sparkly. The crunch is very crunchy and gets you AC/Dc all day long. This is great classic rock voiced channel. Next you have a lead channel that is just about all the gain you can handle and then it takes it up another notch. The four and final channel is called warp and though a strange name but it gets warping.

This amp takes any guitar well. You play anything with this amp and get a decent tone. With most Hughes and Kettner amps I like to play them with a good guitar with a humbucker style pickup installed. The highlight the gain very well in their amps and god humbucker sits nice with their voicings.

OVERALL OPINION

These amps have long been discontinued. So the use market is the only way to go with these amps now a days. They can be found pretty cheap in the classifieds and ebay. If you need a decent solid state amp that you can play at home silently with the headphone hook up or an amp that has an MP3 hook up then this is good one.

USE

- Super simple config as an amp is turned, the volume ca walk ^^
- For distos and crunch you get a good sound easy all depends on the style chosen
you can add a ptite EQ in the loop if it's not sharp enough me it satisfies me
the clean is a bit boring to be settled (but I'm picky)
- The manual? oh yes he still be in the box ...

SOUNDS

- I play everything and any style of music, it can go from jazz to trash it depends on the mood of the day is the versatility of the amp suits me
- I play with a godin rise paf pro and fred, a wha, and it works pretty well I can get a super clean sound a nice crunch (I do not often use I prefer the clean thoroughly balloons), a lead to everything apart with delay humm ... yum solos and warp channel when I'm in a bad mood to relax me ^^ good big distortion that sounds good slobbering hell

NOTICE GLOBAL

It's been a year since I use
I love especially for its versatility that suits all styles from blues to metal and comfortable enough power reserve (not without laughter is so sufficient for our 100 W titites zoreilles when I think that Fender released a tete 500 W ^^)
before acquiring I am inclined to line 6 with spider and Flextone but it was a little too typical metal and too cold I tried a randall also had me but have been available for problem .. .dropoff window
I tried the mesa lonestar too but that's another story ... ^^
with the experience so I referrer that choice for a good amp to forge after the first rotten amp (such Marsh ... 10 W) and before passing has all lamps is useless if you do not know be used (c bo as sentence)

UTILIZATION

Amp very easy to program.
The manual pages 3 and 2 is already too so it's simple.
We immediately sound.
Very easy to adjust for the effects (quality quite honest).
The sound is dynamic and suitable for 6 as a 7-string.
The grain is kept microphones, and that's important.

SOUNDS

You can do everything with distos: blues clean, crunch, to lead very far, and to warp the killer dead.
I use it with all my guitars: lag roxanne standard, ibanez jem 555 and RG7612 (7 String Japan), gibson sg special, customized storm (shadow pickups, Di Marzio Evolution neck and the chopper T) Höfner Shorty.
Grain microphones being respected, the differences between these guitars are great and they are great to listen to this amp.

OVERALL OPINION

1 week of use and I love it. It is very versatile and I would do this choice without hesitation.

Transistor amplifier with a small lamp qd mm ..., the power delivered is totally what I'm doing great and the lead punkrock.le easy to adjust and frankly it sounds pr ... the price!
The settings are simple for the effects they are also good mm if I do not use them, like I almost never clean jou jle but is clean .. clean koi (pti fun)!

UTILIZATION

Setup could not be more simple like the manual toujour ds board hehe!

SOUNDS

For the ideal c c punkrock plug n play is a boost mm at the base to go solo in mm tps ... I do not have a good solo EM c qd mm Good!
I play with an Ibanez rg606 ca emg equipped with rings, a yamaha sgv800 the P90 and they are like the sound is clean, a stratum of 79 with simple to the origin and such nikel and clean and I find it easy to adjust by mm adding a little tremolo like al old shadow.

OVERALL OPINION

I've had the October 2006, he has a great face and more I find it ve spoil anything, a personal cabinet marshall g c ca a choice and goes well, I have to try a model of Berringer, another home line6, another home and I must say HARTKE q ps I do not regret my choice for the low price, repeating com live my q's until I can invest a ds MESA hehe!
