I've been playing guitar, bass, piano and harmonica for about 20 years on and off. Music has always been a passion for me, but unfortunately I do not have as much time as I used to to plink around and figure out songs, play in a band, etc. I guess that's what family life does to you! :(

Not to complain, though. Just makes for more valuable playing time when you get it!

Paid about $900 5 years ago on Musician's Friend. I liked the versatility of this guitar - it had the sweet Fender Strat sound with the single coils, but you can engage the humbucker for a fat rippin' tone that works for everything from southern rock to metal leads.

Silky smooth neck that fits my hand like a glove. This guitar was built with my hands in mind it seems. It's really been the most comfortable electric I've played - ever.

Not much to dislike about this guitar. It's well built (an American Strat), tonal flexibility and very easy to play.

First rate. The american built strats can't be beat!

Overall, this was an investment that has paid off in years of enjoyment. I don't play in a band anymore, but everytime I pick this instrument up I have visions dancing through my head of those days when I was gigging with our 4 piece.

This guitar although not too cheap is amazing. I am in love with this guitar the dual fender wide range humbuckers kick some serious ass. This guitar could easily rock out any place or gig. It also looks so cool mine is just black on black but is actually on of the coolest guitars to look at.

When i recieved it from the store they never really tweaked with it. The guitars action is a little off and the neck pickup is alittle louder the the bridge but othing major though the guitar is excellent!

It has a great action and a thin neck which I like. I pretty much like all of it though.

My parents got me this guitar for christmas. They bought it from guitar center and I think they paid about $560 for it. I had been hinting that I wanted a fat strat because I hated my other guitar(A piece of crap Samick) and I wanted something with a humbucker for a fatter sound. Made in Mexico

I love almost everything about this guitar. It is comfortable, has a nice, full sound, good action, and it stays in tune well. I also like the color -light blue. I think Fender calls it daphne blue or agave blue. Also, the HSS pickup configuration gives you lots of tonal possibilities.

This guitar is very tough and well built. I think it is just as good as the American-made version, and it's a lot less expensive. Fender really knows what it's doing. Again, I was kind of dissapointed by the pickups' humming, but I guess I can live with that.

Overall, this is a great guitar for any level player. It has a great sound, great action, and a great feel. One last thing, I was able to get some awesome pinch harmonics(squeals) out of this thing, something that I couldn't get out of my old guitar.

I bought my Korean made version from Guitar Center for $399 plus tax. The American versions are of course a better quality, but the sounds are very similar.

This guitar has a 5 position switch. You can play anything from Jazz, to Country, to Rock. One of my good friends bought a PRS... now a PRS is a great guitar, but he complained that it really only has 2 different sounds. And now he uses his Fender guitar all the time because of its versatile tones. And I agree, I love my Fender Fat Strat. I even plan of getting the American made model. I have recorded 3 CD's with this guitar. Its simply an all-in-one guitar.

I bought this guitar about 6 months ago from Musiciansfriend for about 170.

This guitar is pretty great for a cheap guitar. It has a great sound especially for the price. It came with decient strings that lasted nearly 5 months before breaking the little e string.

Also stays in tune very very well, even in lower tunings.

Cheap pickups and humbuckers, but hey its a cheap guitar I expected it not to be great ones.

Also has a small buzzing sound on a few of the strings, its not that bad though.

Great feel to it. A great paintjob that has withstand a few falls. Nobs are built pretty well. Almost never goes out of tune on me.

I got this guitar two christmases ago. I was just starting guitar, and we were getting me a good one to start with. I'm pretty sure the guitar was $400.

The different pickups on the guitar are nice. There's a neck, mid, and a humbucker at the bridge. The humbucker gives the nice strong twangy sound you want at the bridge. Has two separate tone nobs.

The neck isn't as playable as i would like. It feels too wide for me, despite the fact i have nice long fingers. But for the price, it is nice. Also, when palm muting, for all you punk players, it is quite easy to accidentally turn the volume nob either all the way up or down.

Overall, this guitar is pretty nice. Nothing compared to my friend…

Overall, this guitar is pretty nice. Nothing compared to my friend's $1600 Jackson, but it's a nice guitar, especailly for a beginner. It's one of the ones that Fender has made in Mexico, so you can get a better Fender for a cheaper price. The nut where the chord plugs in comes loose, but it's more of a hassle than a real problem.

Good beginner or semi-advanced guitar. I like it. Could definitely get a better one for the money though. Try Carvin if you are looking for a nice electric for a good price.

I bought this from musician's friend for 450 bucks, for some reason, the white color was almost 100 bucks cheaper than the black or pewter

I love the array of sounds. The texas special pickups are hot, and between the 5 pickup combinations with a little tweaking on the tone adjustment, i can't think of a tone you can't get out of this guitar. The neck is smooth, and construction is solid.
The Floyd Rose tremelo is easy to make quick tune adjustments with BUT THERE IS A DISCLAIMER BELOW!

The tremolo only comes with 3 trem springs. Go to your local store and get two more and keep it tight against the bridge. With 5 springs a set of heavy guage strings wont move it, and you will be glad…

The tremolo only comes with 3 trem springs. Go to your local store and get two more and keep it tight against the bridge. With 5 springs a set of heavy guage strings wont move it, and you will be glad. Once you know the tremolo won't float, stringing will be like any other guitar.

No problems after heavy use for about 2 months. Been through 4 sets of strings, and multiple climates, and the construction seems solid.

For 450$ a STEAL... for the 540$ they are asking now, i don't see why you would get anything else within the price range. I wouldn't trade this axe for anything short of something i could custom build.

The Fender Stratocaster guitar has to be the most classic and iconic looking instruments on the planet. I'm sure that every guitarist around the world has either played or hones a Fender Stratocaster of some kind. The Fender Stratocaster in general has not really changed all that much. There has been some modern features added or complementing the newer demands of modern players but overall the guitar and tone remain in tact. There has been some modern features added or complementing the newer demands of modern players but overall the guitar and tone remain in tact. This is the Fender deluxe abstract that basically takes away the single coil pickup in the bridge position and replace it with a double humbucker pick up. This gives you that that sound which is in the title of the name. So it's implying that it's giving you a fatter sound than you would have in a standard Fender Stratocaster with a single coil pickup. This pickup will allow you to get a beefier tone much like you would out of a guitar that already features humbucker pickups installed. This is a brilliant design and just compliments the already resourceful and versatile instrument that is the Fender Stratocaster.

    UTILIZATION

    Features

Solid alder body topped with flamed maple
Modern C-shaped maple neck with satin polyurethane finish
    Tremolo bridge
    Dot abalone inlays
    Ebony fretboard
    22 medium jumbo frets
2 single coil Samarium Cobalt Noiseless pickups
    One humbucker
S-1 switching for greater tonal range

    SOUNDS

This is a great sounding guitar and if you've ever spent any time playing a Fender Stratocaster then you know exactly the tone that you're going get from this instrument. You have a rosewood fretboard along with an alder body and a maple neck. This is a frequented with combination and many Fender instruments. But when you put a humbucker pickup in the bridge you can you get a nice thick sound that will compliment and give you even more versatility to your guitar tone. The look of this guitar is exquisite as well. The all-white body with the white pick guard really makes this guitar pop aesthetically.

    OVERALL OPINION

You can find these guitars for right around $1200 or so. This is an upgrade from the standard Fender Stratocaster guitars in my opinion a much needed improvement. Many players like the versatility of having a humbucker as well as a single coil installed into one instrument. This gives the user a lot more resources to find that perfect niche and perfect home for whatever music you're playing. If you are in the market for a nice versatile guitar this is the one to brag in my opinion.

    Fairly versatile guitar

The Mexican Fat strat is probably one of the more popular models that Fender mass produces. It's always sold fairly well in the store, and most of them are fairly consistent in their overall craftsmanship. They can work great for somebody who needs a versatile guitar without spending tons of money. The guitar features an alder body, a maple neck with a rosewood fretboard, 21 medium frets, dot inlays, a vintage style tremolo system, HSS configuration, one volume, two tones and a five way switch.

The guitar features an alder body, a maple neck with a rosewood fretboard, 21 medium frets, dot inlays, a vintage style tremolo system, HSS configuration, one volume, two tones and a five way switch.

    UTILIZATION

These models are generally fairly decent in terms of overall construction. I doubt you'll be blown away when comparing them to the super high end models out there like Suhr, Anderson, Tyler and the such, but they're very solid for the price you're getting. The fretwork is generally fairly decent on them with only needing a slight polish on the frets. Sometimes there are low frets, but a fret level can generally fix that. The nuts are cut pretty decent on these and don't tend to bind too much. One trick you might want to do is use that nut lubricant that is sold online. It works great for tuning stability. The rest of the guitar is what you'd expect for the price range.

    SOUNDS

The pickups in these are average, and you might want to replace them. The bridge pickup sounds like your average humbucker. It's got some decent output, and it can drive an amp when you need it to, but I find that it tends to be a bit lacking in overall character. The bridge + middle position is great for funky cleans, but it can sometimes get a bit bitey. The middle alone is nothing I ever use. Neck + middle can get you that great John Mayer-ish kind of tone, as well as that Hendrix kinda tone. It's not as organic sounding as some of those tones, but it works. The neck alone is decent, but I'd like a bit more power and smoothness, personally.

    OVERALL OPINION

The guitars are pretty solid for what you're getting. It's very much a "bang for your buck" guitar. I would recommend going into a store and playing a few of these to find the one that seems to speak to you. If you're going to buy this online, be weary that you might need to resell it to someone else in case it's not what you're looking for.

    UTILIZATION

The neck joint on this had a small gap, but it wasn't anything too major. You normally see these even with the American versions of the guitars. The fretwork on this could have used some work. The frets were real dull, and they weren't rounded on the ends quite as much as I would have liked. They were a touch sharp, but they weren't sticking out. A quick once-over with a special triangle file would fix that issue. There were no issues with the nut, so no problem there. The guitar stays in tune fairly decent with the stock bridge, but you have to know how to properly set this up. There are a few tricks that you can learn by searching the internet regarding these bridges.

    SOUNDS

The guitar's sound was somewhat lacking. It was partly due to the pickups in this, and it was also partly due to the fact that the guitar didn't seem super resonant. The pickups in this are your standard budget pickups that aren't too exciting. The bridge is humbucking, and it delivers your average humbucker sound. It's really nothing to brag about. The singles were decent at clean tones, but they were fairly noisy, and they seemed to fall apart with high gain. If you're going to keep this guitar, I recommend swapping in some higher quality pickups. DiMarzio and Duncan are the popular choices, but there are other brands out there that are just as good or better.

    OVERALL OPINION

They're decent strats, but be sure you know what you're getting into. You have to play a few of these before you can really find a high quality one that rivals the American ones, and a lot of people don't want to take the time to play a bunch of these. Once you find a good one, however, hold onto it.
