The 1176LN is a limiting Class A amp with F.E.T. gain reduction and huge sound! This rack is punchy, clean and loud; it sounds great with some guitars and even bass. You can get some really good sounds using this unit and it will require no effort at all. Our group has been using this rack for about 3 years now and it has worked great for us every time. It has a very classic look to it but still a very modern design and fits/looks perfect in our rig/rack.

UTILIZATION

Adjusting the release time with the 1176LN can be -50 milliseconds to 1.1 seconds and there are compression ratios of 4:1 8:1, 20:1 and 12:1 that can all be changed or selected by pressing a button quickly and on the fly. There are no side chain inserts or outs on this unit. It will take up 2 rack spaces and the frequency response is 20 Hz to 20 kHz. There is not any threshold control on it but there are input, attack, output, release, ratio controls on it.

SOUND QUALITY

Setting the 1176LN up is quick, after you rack it you will just need to plug up your audio/connections and that is it. There is only 1 XLR input and 1 XLR output on it. There are many situations and reason to use a leveling amp instead of using a compressor. So that was the reason we purchase it just for those times we would need a leveling amp.

OVERALL OPINION

The sound we get with this unit is most definitely competing with major studios. I have even seen this exact same unit racked in a major studio that we went to before. The price is affordable and the quality is excellent. It is made well and coming from Universal Audio you can guarantee that it will be backed by great customer support and a warranty.

SOUND QUALITY

It is certainly still one of the best compressors limiters in the market, so easy and intuitive, medium and lower medium are unmistakable, the thickness of its force to push the input materials are all impossible on most compressors current (type Avalon, Focusrite ...), the attack time and release very well calibrated, there also can work out all dynamic, the most destructive surboostage bus drums, bass drums and of course above all cash clear (architecture employed for 30 years in the studio for this purpose) for depreciation on a jazz bass through the delicate coloration very "Jack Daniels" a voice of blues!
another of its obvious applications is the compression of electric guitars more or less saturated, it will do wonders behind a Telecaster on a twin or AC30!!
even if it still does not specify that as well on all sources (notte some voices, brass)
In short it is very easy to capture a color compression and to be fully satisfied, (which is rare !!!!) a compressor that quickly becomes an ally on stage and in studio and this version stereo paired n ' to have the more versatile.
as the 1176 original, the ratio of 12 is really the most typical sound of the machine, thickness, saturation power and extreme use (release in fast max)

OVERALL OPINION

Always epai and effective
a star of the genre, have to have this machine for those who still rely on the periph hardware!
the original LN 1176 offers a bit more depth and excitement in the medium, it is very close to 2-1176 with imprssion its slightly hollowed and with a little infra superior to the original model, tuned equal to the 1176 reissue , also offers a racing threshold much larger, allowing more cuts than the LN destructices original!
Much more power in the bass than the "plug UAD1" and sound a little more precise and enjoyable, saturation occurred (by a ratio of 12 with high threshold and release the mini) is also more comfortable with much more race on the plug, the plug for the rest is still pretty well emulated.

to conclude the 1176 for me is: smooth, powerful color but fat!

Superb machine, I expected to have all of the same hands a box "built like a tank" is not the case: it is solid but not "blindquot;

UTILIZATION

The config is very simple, do not be afraid to make express "ear" and playing with the level of (see my favorite toy compression level, until the Joemeek silent one, I know the philosophy).

So for me, we must find her again as and when a machine strong characters all the same!

Used for a month, on all my mixes dsormais, even if your exact record of the bass drum to send the mix for the snare or other ...

I think one days kicking a LA3A, which I like normment plug.
I ordered another compressor high-end design LA2A for this excellent complter Universal Audio 1176.

Purchased a "virtual friend" of this site (hello you!), Used so forcment qualitprix excellent value.

Used more often on the vocal takes ... Give a prsence and "Smack" & a grain voice truly unique and recognizable, have complete control over the voices to the mix ...
I think me get the other (s) one of these days, not the MODEL forcment this because there are multiple copies all just diffrent (Mohog, Purple Audio, Dragon, ... ).
