Closed circumaural. very well isolated from external noise sources (32db attenuation), it is perfect for live use (as opposed to open headphone), less suitable for mixing (preferably in this case the HD590 and HD600).
It features good sound and the dynamic strength, lightness, it folds to be stored!
small flaw: it can strangling one.
attention the HD-280pro need a long time to break before ringing Deffinitions (hence the impression of a predominance of acute purchase).

The HD-280 comes in two versions: 280-PRO low impedance (64 ohm) version 280-13 (high impedance 300 ohm).

I use it for live cash bcp because it better than the rest of the range Sennheiser and really needs to be pushed before saturated (SPL: 102dB).
Its cable coiled very solid and useful (it not work dessu all TMPS) exists in two versions: 1.5 meters and 3 meters, the tip is a TRS 3.5 which one is a gold tip plqué 6.35.

- Bandwidth 8 - 25kHz Hz
- Continuous Power: 500mW
- 0.1% harmonic distortion

I have a HD-590 (for mixing) and an HD-280pro for live and as a lover of sennheiser I think it's the perfect couple!
