Blackstar Amplification HT-5R

Blackstar hais one of the biggest up and coming amp compnaies in the world. They have amps for every size and pretty much every plauyer/ They have all kinds of different voiced amps and many amps that go all the way dwon to 1 watt of power.

This amp is a 5 watt amp that has a push pull power amp section, two switchable channels, and great sounding 12 inch speaker. This amp for being a small little guy has a wallop of tone and drive. This little amp while being one of the best sounding amps you can buy as has a great clean channel to along with its famous distortion tone. This is a great little combo.

SOUNDS

This little amp has a fantastic clean tone that chimy and sparkles all the way up the guitar's volume pot. You can roll off the by gain and distortion rolling down you volume and get a nice sparkling clean that rivals any Fender amp that I have ever heard. The clean is a must hear channel but this thing lives in the distortion channel. You get a creamy lush gain that is British in flavor but its ow wonderful color of overdrive.

This amp is such a great workhorse small watt amp. They seem to be signing new artists to their endorsement list on a daily basis. The have such a great set of amps that this one first on very nicely on the low watt all tube amp combos.

OVERALL OPINION

At new these amps come in right at around $450, which is a steal of a price. You can't get a whole lot for that money but you can get a nice sounding all tube amplifier combo from Blackstar. This is a two channel dream amp for someone wanting to step into the tube amp world. I would recommend this amp to anyone who needs a good practice amp that sounds huge at low volumes.

UTILIZATION

Record (there is one?), Made for the metal but is made quite versatile because by spending a little time searching we find the desired sound.

SOUNDS

The clean is good enough heat and effective tone knob, the reverb plays are role, the drive channel and that's why we buy a lot of gain in reserve can attack the good old metal without much guts concern and the ISF makes carving sound pretty easily and the equalizer is effective. You can play the blues as well as other Rock and may be light for the death or its northernmost.

OVERALL OPINION

I have it for 6 months and I am delighted, I change the Sovtek 12AX7 original by a mesa boogie 12AX7 and clean does not change too much, but I board won on the drive channel more gain by 5watt against very powerful in my apartment because I can push the volume up to 2 3 see when I want to annoy the neighbors. Short but good I strongly advice.

UTILIZATION

It is clear is simple, and even ultra Full (mp3 input, output emulation hp, ...).

I use this ultra basic way: an amp for home with nothing but the guitar plugged (no effect).

Two channels very well and integrated reverb.

SOUNDS

Its well beyond what I was hoping for this kind of amp. it has character, it's versatile, pretty impressive this beast.

I never tried it in a context other than playing at home, this is why I bought it (with a hot rod deluxe otherwise) and it's perfect that way. Recorded a few takes (with a static front) and it also sounded remarkably in a mix.

Stratocaster telecaster & tested.

The light is clean without a crazy character (but it's still very good), channel 2 is really impressive. You can really look in many directions, it can be in saturated fat (not my thing), but I'm mostly very attractive but the crunch and OD is very musical.

OVERALL OPINION

For 1 year. I tried many things, almost every trick. Here the idea was an apartment amp, so I tried small fender, a small vox, etc ... This is completely out of the lot.

Perfect for someone who wants a versatile tube amp amp.

UTILIZATION

Are not you 50 knob, each doing what it is supposed to do, basically it's easy!

SOUNDS

The clean sound first, one can go anywhere but very usable (Me, I like a lot), one tone control, finally adequacy and effectiveness. Takes good effects and nice jazz.

The overdrive channel is a channel of pure violence . By adjusting the gain is low enough has a very musical and bluesy overdrive, then the higher up the gain, the more you come to a big distortion, but arrive at the high gain (there have the HT5Metal for that). Very versatile for all types of rock / blues / hard or pop.

OVERALL OPINION

This is the perfect amp for me, nothing can stop! 5 Watts that allow me to play in any situation. In an apartment or it sounds great at low volume, by repeating (or if the drummer hits hard, you can pass in the sound), coffee in concert (or anyway the boss will not let you play on your jcm 900) or larger concert or will be dubbed and will not rot the FOH.
In short, this amp is perfect for me, especially since it is solid and comes with its switch. The sound in my head!
