« Very good »
Published on 01/03/14 at 08:12Amp lamps made in USA
50 W with 2 6L6 power and 5 12AX7 preamp
2 channels with EQ / Gain / Reverb ... separated: 1 (clean / crunch) and the 2nd with 3 modes of distortion
1 setting Boost
1 effects loop (parallel)
1 footswicth (Canal / reverb / Boost)
UTILIZATION
The setup is relatively simple, the amp sounds immediately with any good scratch. (Les Paul Standard, ESP Horizon, Ibanez 7 string ...)
The clean sound is excellent, fairly neutral (less than typical Fender or Vox) but quite warm.
Distos are huge and cover largelment rock / metal spectrum the last 30 years ...
Note that the third mode (modern) was stronger than the first 2 general sound level.
I downloaded the manual in French, but not yet had the time to really look.
After this is not necessarily the amp I would choose for jazz and blues, but it is relatively versatile to my surprise.
SOUNDS
I've owned a lot of amps (transistors: Marshall, Peavey) and lamps (Vox AC30, Fender Hot Rod) and for the moment it is closest to what I love to do (pop / rock / hard rock / metal ...)
With him, exit pedals distos.
OVERALL OPINION
I've had about a month, I tested again, it is very powerful and doing well in the mix with other instruments.
Bought used, I do not regret my purchase, I finally have the sound MESA, j'adore! The réglges for each channel, but happiness! The boost is also seen great and very effective because you can adjust the level ...
Only caveats:
- The effects loop is parallel, and suddenly does not mix well with my pedal TC Electronic Nova System. I can not find a sound that suits me fine for now (or in front or in the loop)
- Reverb, almost unusable (no adjustment)
- Knobs are not marked (chrome) suddenly, you have to have good eyes to see his régalges
- Weight: the beast is huge, we're talking about 36 kg in any case heavier than my old Hot Rod Deluxe, but more compact than my Vox AC30 was almost intransportable
