tazzrecords has already detailed the ultra simplistic characteristics of the beast.

    Why bother to flourish?

Note that it's made in France and handmade by a craftsman (I should say a magician ...).

What is it that the top finish is custom, we selected the Tolex, grill cloth and its off you go!

It's plug and play, you plug it sounds!

    SOUNDS

The 1st few hours were a bit disappointing because the amp had a tendency to sound dull. After checking with the designer of Jean Michel, it reassured me by telling me he had to open the components and the sound would open after several hours of running.

And he was right the guy, JMH amp is like a fine wine it should be allowed sufficient time to open!

I use it plugged into an Orange 2x12 open back, and frankly we are in the realm of absolute clear sound. To get tested or heard quite this type of amp (Deluxe Reverb, Hot Rod, twin reverb ... etc.) I never felt this sense of purity, dynamics, heat. It is clearly in mind Fender but with this little harder to describe.

For me it is absolute and my old amp Sovtek Mig50 will not be wanting.

As Tazzrecords said he is very chummy with the distos and reacts very well with. For my part I use it for the moment with a Blackstar HT Dual TS and making it an absolute weapon.

I play telecaster only so needless to say I have not managed to fool the cruncher and 22w are amply sufficient to cover any drummer.

    OVERALL OPINION

Commissioned in August 2010 with the wizard Jean Michel, I could follow all his manufacturing through photos sent as and when measured by its designer. I finally received in October and I think I'll never part.

It is difficult to imagine that such a custom amp quality level may cost "only" 850eur!

To obtain this level of quality and such a great brand in its amp it will have to pay double or more. So there you get personalized service and you are building YOUR amp and that's class.

If you seek a clear and simple, this is definitely the amp for you :-)

    One-channel, class-A 20-watt amp head

    GZ34 rectifier tube

    2 x 6V6GT power tube

    1 x 12AX7 preamp tube

    1 x 12AT7 phase inverter tube

    High-class Hammond transformer

Tested with a Fender Deluxe BlackFace AA763 bass guitar

Old-school, point-to-point wiring... without printed boards!

The head has only a single channel.

    Controls: volume, low, mid, high.

    On/off and standby switches

    Speaker output

It's not much but it's exactly what I wanted: a simple amp head with a good sound.

    UTILIZATION

Considering the easiness of the setup you just have plug and start playing!

    Few but effective controls.

    Few but effective controls.

    SOUNDS

After one week of intensive testing with several speaker cabinets:

The clean sound is just perfect: beautiful dynamics and full tone with solid lows and smooth highs.

The sound stays clean half the way and then it starts to crunch.

With a high-efficiency speaker (e.g. Celestion Vintage 30), you won't have any problems to play with a band.

The crunch sound with a TS9 or similar booster is punchy and sharp... beautiful!

The distortion with a Tonebone Classic pedal is a real delight!

I tested it with a '73 Fender Strat, a Les Paul and a Blade RH4.

What else? It's the best amp I've ever played in every aspect.

    OVERALL OPINION

I already owned several all-tube amps: Marshall Jubilee, ENGL Screamer, Mesa F30 and Studio 22, Fender Vibrochamp 74 and others.

I've tried out a lot of other amps: Fender Deluxe Reissue, Supersonic, 70's Twin, Mesa Express and many others...

This amp has only one clean sound but it's simply the best I've ever heard and it just loves overdrive and distortion pedals.

If you want a better amp you'll have to pay loads of money...
