Marshall JCM 900 Model 4500
Published on 01/31/02 at 15:00PURCHASED NEW IN 1991, PAID: USD680, FROM LOCAL MUSIC STORE.
IT HAS 3 12AX7 PREAMP TUBES, 2 EL34 POWER TUBES, 2 CHANNELS, INDEPENDENT GAIN, VOLUME AND REVERB. SHARED QE.
CLEAN CHANNEL CAN BE PUSHED TO LIGHT OVERDRIVE SOUND, LEAD CHANNEL IS GOOD FOR CLASSIC ROCK.
IT IS NOT REALLY A "HIGH GAIN" AMP, THE GAIN ON LEAD CHANNEL WILL BECOME MUDDY IF IT PASSES 12 (IT GOES TO 20). HIGH IS TOO PIERCING. I SET THE BASS TO 5, MID TO 7 AND CUT THE TREBLE TO 2 TO GET A SOLID SOUND.
SOLID CONSTRUCTION. I HAVE BEEN USING IT FOR REGULAR GIG FOR 10 YEARS AND FOUND NO PROBLEMS. I HAVE ANOTHER MARSHALL HEAD, MODLE 2205, THAT IS STILL ROCKING AFTER 18 YEARS.

BY ITSELF, IT IS A ROCK AMP, NOT A METAL AMP. IF YOU PLAN TO PLAY METAL WITH THIS AMP YOU NEED TO HOOK UP A METAL DISTORTION PEDAL BETWEEN YOUR GUITAR AND THIS AMP'S CLEAN CHANNEL WITH GAIN SET AT 8. I MAINLY PLAY HEAVY BLUSE AND IT'S A PERFECT AMP FOR ME.

Two channels lamps. Marshall's what!
UTILIZATION
Even easier than with a real CHARACTERISTICS equalo marshall: you turn the knobs and there's nothing that changes. But that's normal then 10!
SOUNDS
Its clear they are useful but not really top it sorely lacking heat with low-trs mdium really ugly, but fawn all is not what is asked.
Crunch sound, rock and assimilated is his strong point, its register, which is why he does manufactured. Basically, it is turned on, the industry, we go in and lead channel is played, there's nothing else to do.

Drive sound loud and clear that I say can be good jou mtal large (heavy, black, trash, etc.) with this amp, for two reasons:
- It only 50W, that is, we enter the plateau phase of the lamps much faster than with a 100w (especially since it is splitable) and you do not have to put the volume too hard to have a grain INTERESTED.
- By a good compressor before prampli qualo and a good amp before the CJM, work the sound as you want and a blast, the grain remains well pais, with good sustain, a easy game ...
OVERALL OPINION
To be clear, for the price of the machine, it has a good head with, IMHO, indniable benefit: transparency.
With the exprience I have (more than 8 years of ownership) and prt have several people in situations Lives (rock bands, nu-mtal, trash, song ...), it's really easy to live an amp if you know how to take it.
I do not keep this amp for one reason: its simplicitySee less40
