Stanton Magnetics STR8-150 New Look

If I had to pick one turntable to have in my studio for the rest of my life... it would have to be this one! Reasons: 1. It has a reverse button which I need when I'm experimenting in the studio. 2. Short straight arm for less skipping when I'm skratching all wild and crazy. 3. Extra wide pitch control range, which is nuts important when I wanna mix whatever. 4. Built to throw off a building... I asked the creator of the table at the NAMM Show, and he said one of his goals was to make it as strong as a tank, and he tested multiple table prototypes by dropping them from a two story window, and finally this version wouldn't break. Kinda overkill to me, but this definitely gives it an edge over the all in one plastic Vestax tables like the QFO that I designed. Anyways, this Stanton table has everything but a fader... maybe one day, they'll make one like that... and you could throw it out of a building too

I must admit I'm impressed that table. In brief the pros and cons:

Pros:
-The price. Even includes a 680HP cartridge.
-Plug and Play, it takes 3 seconds to install.
Out-Phono, Line and S / PDIF.
-No ground wire is a grounded 3 teeth (ie with ground) Please note there is a button to choose whether or not ground it.
-RCA stereo included, seem good. We can even detach them (Unlike SL1200)
Pitch-8%, 25%, 50%. Pitch Lock (on / off)
Reverse-button, which rotates the turntable in the opposite direction.
-2 Pots that allow you to choose the initial velocity and brake the board, from 0.2 sec to 6 sec.
-2 Start / stop buttons.
A white-LED light to illuminate the whole.
Do-14W comsomme that.
-Right arm fully adjustable: Libra, antiskate, height.

Cons:
No-transportable, 16.4kg.
-Although there is no feedback when you type on the plate too well the spring on the needle. This is at least 2 to 3 times stronger than on a SL1200. The big point is boring.

If yavait way to fix the "feedback tapping" his is undoubtedly the perfect table.

How long have you use it?

I have one for over two years (my other board is the first edition)


What is so special that you like most and least?

I am happy, robust, stable, feature packed, the couple, a nice short muzzle the top for me. The less weight would be a hassle to lug is in the evening: (

on the other hand I found no problem with feedback from the MK2, unlike the TT500 or you wonder how they are isolated ....


Have you tried many other models before buying it?

I started with a pair of SL1200 MK2 and the TT500 and finally the STR8-150.

It's decks that I wanted to put me in deejayng, but given their price at the time (650 €) I pulled on MK2 (good deck too).


How would you rate the quality / price? With experience, you do again this choice? ...

With the current price, there is no better for me, I tested a lot, but I can not do without = Z

I advise them to 200%!


ps: the same advice I gave for the STR8-150 first edition, except that this one on the arm is beefier, even if that rule this easily, I prefer the look against the first =)

Just a few lines to give my personal opinion on this deck, it's a bomb. I had mk2 for 5 years, it has been two years since I and the technics are not M5G foto, qualitprix report, the stanton cartonnent. The point that I think I'll sell my M5G to buy them. A couple impressive engine power (more than double to rappport technics), a pitch more powerful (with the Custom + 16% of me has M5G enough for me but the MK2 + -8% of it becomes a little short ). For now we are all (ten dj) agree that the platinum market. The big question will be whether it gives Longva. But for those who are not yet aware, even in technics is as before. And yes these are now crtins like everyone else, and has since age 5 or 6, they manufacture in China. Everything has to say that as I speak, the stanton is THE buy platinum. Why? MK2 pitch problem. M5G, too expensive for what it is (or then OCCAZ or abroad, has the worth, what I have done). Vestax has is worth more than what was worth on the first model. And then I've ever personal aim. Numark TTX, they had a lot of engine problem on the old gnrations is now waiting to see what was going to give out on Most recent internship but it's still too tt I think for able to trust them. Voila voila, I think I made the rounds. We all know we're talking high-end ii of each brand, so there are no pictures, even when they are all fun to use (I have all essays) and there are ways to make fucking set with all (even when it is not the gemini). But if you want to invest such sums, it's normal we want the best qualitprix. Come on, all right mix ...

All right, I sold my Technics M5G and bought the stanton. No regret, on the contrary. Agree with the problem of feedback tapping but it does not impede me at all. It's really the only ngatif. Ending for the death of technics !!!???
