«  Simple and effective ... but unreliable »

Published on 12/28/10 at 04:11
What characteristics have motivated your purchase choice?

Stereo input on jack 6.35 and stereo outputs on RCA (well for a power amp). 24/48 (a pity that this is not a 24/96)

For what purpose? What is your config (Motherboard / CPU / Ram / Disk ,...)?

It was for me to recover the stereo outputs of my BEHRINGER EUROMIX 1602 to inject the signal into Samplitude (on PC so).

With which instruments or systems (console, preamp, DTD ...) do you use it with? ...

I therefore used it primarily for the stereo input jack 6.35. However, I happened to plug a microphone or a guitar.

UTILIZATION

The drivers are stable? They are often updated?

Hard to say since my PC itself is not very stable! (Very old cuckoo ram ...).

What software do you use most often? What latency you get?

I use it with Magix Samplitude Studio 16. The latency is 36 ms, but this is in no way troublesome.

How many tracks do you manage to record / playback simultaneously? ...

If I remember correctly, plugging in an instrument in front disconnects the stereo inputs on the back. But it is to be verified. In any way, I use it in my home studio for songs. So I'm doing track to track (synth and after guitar, etc.) and I also use a lot of virtual instruments.

GETTING STARTED

Installation works with no problems? Have you experienced any incompatibilities? The general configuration is easy? The manual is clear and sufficient? ...

You plug the USB, it installs the driver and ... that's all!

Did not read the manual ...

OVERALL OPINION

For how long have you been using it?

2 years

What thing do you like most/least about it?

+ Simplicity and low latency
- Reliability! The left channel just give dies! So, I am obliged to record in mono (small button in front). Not cool for some of my programmed Yam AN-1X!

Did you try many other models before getting this one?

I just tried an interface BEHRINGER (I forget its model name and, frankly, I preferred to forget the rest!)

What is your opinion about the value for the price?

In view of the price, if the reliability was there, I would say that is a correct price/value ratio.

Knowing what you know now, would you make the same choice? ...

No, sir! I'll invest in an M-Audio Audiophile 192 (PCI-e port on 24/96 in!).
