Trilogy is Dead: Long Live Trilian!

Spectrasonics Trilian Software Review

Spectrasonics has been living a love story with bass guitars for sixteen years. A long time before Omnisphere, Stylus and the famous Distorted Reality, one of the first products developed by Eric Persing and his team was Bass Legends – a sample bank CD dedicated to three of the most renown bass players on earth: Marcus Miller, John Patitucci and Abraham Laboriel. All low with a big big sound

    OVERALL OPINION

I use it for 4-5 years and I must say that it remains a benchmark for virtual bass with a quality / price excellent end to the extent that it has all the bass sounds required in one soft. Bass of Trilian remains also the most beautiful I've ever seen in the virtual world.

And it sounds big! Sometimes too, so that he must cut things in EQ.

Defects, however, are to be sought in the overall heaviness of the interface and programs: must juggle the joints, which is a bit tedious when you're used to the lightness and intelligence programming bass SCARBEE . Nothing serious though, but I think the app is improved.

Otherwise, its interaction with Omnisphere is a great idea, making the duo a sound machine that ridicules the most competitive products that come from soft or hardware.

The acoustic basses are the best!

Spectrasonics TrilianPublished on 01/13/13 at 21:38
Spectrasonics Trilian is a plug in that can be used on a Mac or a PC, it is a virtual bass instrument plug in with acoustic, synthesized and electric bass sounds that are perfect for any genre of music. Being that we make different styles of music from Pop to Rock it was great to have a VST that could emulate any sound that we needed for that particular track. The Trilian has given us so many different types of basses! All of the acoustic guitars are really amazing, I have used them in about 20 different songs so far and they are way better than another other VST plug in that I currently had at the time. The Trilian has given us so many different types of basses! All of the acoustic guitars are really amazing, I have used them in about 20 different songs so far and they are way better than another other VST plug in that I currently had at the time. I was using Hypersonic for bass before I had Trilian and it was ok for a while and I actually thought it was great until I got my hands on Trilian.

    SUITABILITY/PERFORMANCE

Installing Trillian was very easy, it installs just like any other VST does on my Macbook running 10.5.4 OS. It was quick and easy to install. I purchased this directly from Spectrosonics and it only took a few minutes before they sent me a link to download it. I was at first not into spending 300 bucks on a guitar software but after using it for a year now I look back and see just how many songs I have used this on. I have gotten well more than what I paid for it and I will continue to use it a lot.

    OVERALL OPINION

The Synthesized bass sounds are the weakest basses in this VST though, but they are still usable. I will still use the Hypersonic synth basses with Guitar Rig to get the perfect synth bass though. The electric basses are pretty good and they sound similar to the electric basses that are on my Korg keyboard.
This software is a great buy, and I am very happy that I purchased it last year. It has brought our bass sounds to a new level and gave us realistic bass when we could not bring in an actual bass player

Trilian’s stunning new Acoustic Bass is the most detailed instrument Spectrasonics has ever released, with 4 audio channels and over 21,000 samples to create this single instrument! All this combined with Trilian’s high-resolution streaming of the sounds puts a depth of realism into performances that is truly inspiring.

I’ve used this in Logic Pro 8 and 9, in 32 and 64 bit mode without a problem.

I have a Mac Pro 2.66 Quad Core with 8 GB of ram and a White Macbook with Intel Core 2 Duo Cpu with 4 GB of Ram.
The installation is really easy and the the manual is well written.

    SUITABILITY/PERFORMANCE

The software reacts really well, however to use its full potential you need to have at least 4 gb of ram. With 8 gb and in 64 bit it works like a charm.

    OVERALL OPINION

I've used this in my home studio for a lot of different projects.
From Pop rock, to Electronica, to Heavy rock the VI always suited perfect in the mix.

A bit pricey, but you will have a Class A product, that was created with an exceptional cure of details. Especially for the Acoustic and Electric Basses, you will have all the nuances and different playing styles available in the original instrument.

It can be a little complex in the begininning and some patches are really heavy on the RAM, but it will give you stunning results.

I used extensively Trilogy, its predecessor, and I can say without doubt that Spectrasonics it's my favourite Virtual Instrument Software house.

Always ahead of the time in terms of features and innovations, and with a stellar sound quality.

Installing a simple but long ...
Not yet had time to dig but the install synthetic sounds did not work

    SUITABILITY/PERFORMANCE

    very very very greedy.
I have a Mac Pro with 8 GB of Ram and Trilian is almost unusable as it slowed the machine.

    OVERALL OPINION

I'm not sure of keeping it as it slowed the machine. Even if the sounds are of high quality, I'll reinstall trilogy!

Like his colleague Omnisphere, just load and hop Trilian 300 MB of food! So when you load more sounds!

The thing that catches a tire is that you can load the sounds in Omnisphere, saving the 300 MB of Trilian empty. But hey, 'must also have Omnisphere is not given ...

In fact, good and me Sort this out with multiple instances, I could do exactly the same thing with his ancestor Trilogy. (I mean electric bass) Of course, there are many more choices than with low Trilogy but I think I'll just use it ...
Unless Mr Spectrasonics read this and plan to add joints that would suggest a real bassist. It is a shame given the job done z'ont What!
Without doubt, Trilian is it more interesting as regards the synth basses, there are many choices and sounds from Spectrasonics designers know very well invent, renew the genre. For my part, I use them soon.
It's funny, when I did not like Atmosphere, I find qu'Omnisphère is really excellent and it became essential to me, then worshiping Trilogy, I am rather disappointed by Trilian but anyway, now that j 'I found the bass Scarbee ...

I think they have a job before you do any better than MM-bass or other bass in Scarbee plugin with good bass amp simulation behind ... And I can not wait to see it.

The installation is done it without problems?

    It's long.

    The general configuration is easy?

    Yes

    Have you experienced any incompatibilities?

In Trilian update in 64bit display problems in live 8.

The manual is clear and sufficient?

The videos are very clear from Spectrasonics.

    What performance?

Therein lies the problem. Stac bass Full range: 2.5 gigabytes of RAM for a sound that is all. When using Trilian you really write all the bass of a sudden bounce, re-import and save the preset, then remove the module. Otherwise full Orchestra + + Trilian Omnisphere will remain …

Otherwise full Orchestra + + Trilian Omnisphere will remain an impossible dream. Upload a sound is very long.

    OVERALL OPINION

For how long have you been using it?

    2 Months

Knowing what you know now, would you make the same choice?

Without hesitation, despite the poor general criticism due to Scarbee. Actually a joint point of view it might be a little richer. But the bass alone worth the price of soft drinks, as well as monstrous synths.
This is the perfect complement to Omnisphere, rich bass and type in the stomach, a very well made bass.

What thing do you like most/least about it?

    Plus: THE SOUND! Usability Spectrasonics.
Fewest: Ever seen something as plaintiff in RAM.

What is your opinion about the value for the price?

Very good, quality pays. You could buy a small low Scarbee to get things done.

Install without problem, except that it is long ... Online Manual damn good, explanatory videos, you're set!

    SUITABILITY/PERFORMANCE

Sure, it eats resources ... At the same time with his equal, is not surprising ... I have a MacBook Pro, and since the latest Update, it runs much better. Spectrasonics is a box that plugs made that new exiting! I am a fan.

    OVERALL OPINION

From my perspective, it sounds bad ... The basses are terrible! Super Bass Fretless. I find this plug extraordinary and I find the previous review very severe ... The effects are OK, especially the compressors. Under Logic, I'm obviously manage bus to spread the load on the CPU cores, but it runs well.

I do not know Scarbee but Trilian longer the case. And if I need a REAL bass player, I am a musician I need. A plug, however good it will never replace a good Jazzbass played by a bass player who has the sound!
