Edirol PCR-800

I do not re-turn caracs, see other reviews. I chose it for the right compromise between the 80 keys soft to the touch, many controllers for a featherweight. I put just a layer on the external pedal input, and for good practice.

UTILIZATION

Touch is excellent for this price range, and I have never found this as a master keyboard (tested M-Audio, Evolution, Novation). This is not the touch of a piano, or even an electronic piano weighted, but it's not plastic, not fake. No squeaks nide hard keys back to appuer or not.

I used it to control a synth using soudfonts. I am very satisfied. e have always used USB, Windows 7 or Linux (Tango Studio, Ubuntu Studio), it is completely plug & play without driver.

The manual is sufficient.

Config is not super obvious, but it is on the MIDI keyboard is necessarily a geek thing. The fact is that there are many possible settings, so many parameters and subtleties. Adjusting velocity curves is not the easiest, but I think you can not change it every four mornings. Otherwise, for assigning a controller to a MIDI and recording, it's pretty easy once you got the hang of hand. Other functions (choice of channel, octave, split ...) are easily accessible and well thought out.

OVERALL OPINION

I used it for two years. I tested several models from M-Audio, Evolution, Novation, Alesis. The number of controllers, the overall quality of manufacture, so its strength, lightness and above all the quality of the keyboard to put me at the top of the basket in this price range. I saw a few negative opinions on longevity. I bought mine used and it is still like new. After that, sure, I trimballe very little and still in its bag, and with great care: it's fragile little creatures!

The price / quality ratio is good.

I give the keyboard because I do not have time, and I will focus solely on guitar and vocals. But if one day I have to get back to the keyboard, it is certainly among Edirol I go see, and certainly this model.

Bought to replace an Edirol PCR-M50, too Coury (4 ocatves) for my use.
Connected to the Mac via USB, and my old S80 connects via MIDI (diffrent corresponding port on the computer: top!)

Everything is simple and enjoyable on the keyboard.

OVERALL OPINION

Bought to replace an Edirol PCR-M50, which was only four octaves, this product s'avre trs satisfying: the feel was amlior and we can say it is perfect for this range Price (rponse excellent, excellent flexibility, comfort is short). The Controller is much higher (well CONTRL 9 sliders to the Hammond organ drawbars !!!), and the program is a thundering simplicity thanks the editor provided (Mac / PC).

A home on scne much in the studio.

UTILIZATION

- The touch keyboard is it fun? Should your use?
Touch is pretty horrible! True piano refrain. For me, it suits me.
This is the spring which is rather unpleasant. A by it the "plastic" is good and the velocity is there.

- The general configuration is it simple
Virtually nothing to do, connect the USB keyboard and hop (no need for power supply) ... The pads are still to be configured.

- Manuel entirely in English, but quite clear.

- Functions surprises:
The dual keyboard, it's nice!
The selector device is a pleasant surprise.
The aftertouch

- Damage ...
the pads are not velocity sensitive.

OVERALL OPINION

I have this keyboard for 48 hours, I am completely satisfied for the moment!
I have not tested on Linux ... Feedback to come.

Damage to the affected and non-pads, velocity sensitive. A default by these little USB master keyboard that is of excellent quality.
