Schertler Unico II

I have known this amp for about four years now (the upgraded version 2 came out about two years ago). Schertler is a small Swiss company specializing in pickups for acoustic instruments. Making good amps for such an application was the logical next step and it really makes sense to look at pickup systems for acoustic instruments as one unit consisting of amplifier and pickup.

The Unico really sounds great and the EQ settings give you a lot of tweaking potential. Often these euqalizers are laid out so they can cut frequencies quite well but are not very good at enhancing the sound. I have compared it to AER and the Roland AC-60 and it beats both of them. If you are looking into amplifying your nylon string gutiar then AER or the David (by Schertler) are very nice options as well. But for steel string guitar you need more punch in the low mids and more dynamic headroom.

These combos are not very cheap - but they are well worth the money. There are a few functions that Schertler has incorporated which are more specific to their pickup systems (10V Power supply, resonance filter) and can be confusing if you don't know the unit.
The weight might be a bit of a problem for some people - I still think it is quite portable. If you like the sound but would like to have a more 'generic' outline then check out SR Technologies (I think they are from Italy). They sound very good and are a little cheaper (I actually believe they build part of the amps for Schertler...).

I use this amp sound for two months for singing (sm58) and guitar (electro-ac ovation cc157). Amplifier 185 W RMS bi-amplified.
3 Channels. 4-band EQ for voice, for channel 3 + Dyn presence (planned for a guitar with cell Schertler Dyn-G, or a second voice), 3 for the channel + Warm Stat. (See website for Schertler more info). Corrections effective, but it takes time to fine tune ultimately very sensitive. I preferred the scalloped pots, although very pleasant to the touch they move too easily for transport and brush the top of the box, to protect or handle with care.
The sound: power, heat, clarity, transparency. I did not have it all in this small cube. Better than the EAR compact60.
The reverb seems initially puzzling situation but is ultimately effective. We feel it is material to last with an exceptional sound quality for this category and who knows how to fix it, I can not get enough. I might have preferred a reverb
Digital to slip by so few to time delays, but above all a sense amp sound reproducing natural sounds. And that side is the top. It's just a pity it is much more expensive in France and abroad, will each according to his budget. For a young person who begins p'tit it's a cheap amp but the quality is not comparable to a ACX1000 Berhinger example of which is a machine breath.
Rated power, I have not had the opportunity to help push down, I always had the margin at the moment (much room). For me the price / quality ratio is excellent.
I would put 9 / 10 just for this story knob reverb and "unique".

Hello, This amp is just great !!!!!!

Aquis I have this little gem to add sound to a voice and a guitar to my group

It has been only 3 days I use it already, but it smells good .... trs

So first of all it is really small, it is ideal to transport, the weight is reasonable but it looks like a trs compact block of granite, the esthetic aspect is actually not that bad, I start m I find it beautiful.

The sound is simply magnificent, a dynamic and clarity that I did listen before
The bass and lower midrange is impressive given the size of the machine, the top spectrum is also fully implemented by the bi-amping. The correction that we can bring are a formidable efficiency.

It's actually a real hifi speaker, who am fond of fi (Micromega, Kef ...) I can tell you that it is largely the way this little affair Swiss branch of an iPod is enormous, more need hi-building exudes solidity except knob which can be a bit tight, the rest is top.

The voice is as beautifully delivered by the beast. the reverb is destabilizing to beginners because it is a real spring reverb on 3 voice sound is different, but with a few hours you get used to COSTS trs trs trs well ...

the number of permits many things, the possibility of guilt with another speaker (Schertler side) is are to remember, I think I would do in a few months of his colleague the acquisition (SIDE ) for a sound of hell, a rare class.
