Bought to replace my Mackie HR 624 active studio monitors I was not satisfied.

Purchased in May 2011.
I tried and listened to some earlier Yamaha MSP10 Studio monitors, Mackie, Adam, Dynaudio BM15A.
I've had HR 624, which are colored pregnant and absolutely not neutral (too low "draft", slobbering) flattering to listen to electronic music but they do not have their place in a studio, a pittance to save properly!
I like the sound of the 3031A is neutral, clean, analytical ... These qualities are essential to compose music on computer in conditions almost acceptable.
What I like least? Not much compared to what is good. The dynamics seemed to me perfectible but that's okay though ... The choice of the position of MA buttons on the top and back is impractical.
The value for money is excellent. There are always better but it is 4 times more expensive in Adam (for example) and if the power reserve is a factor that interests you, you can not beat that price.
A very good choice for tight budgets. I plan to buy two other pairs ... but I'll wait a bit, I do not have a return on their behavior over time (reliability).

Technical characteristics that have motivated my choice:
- The spectrum returned frequencies (50 Hz - 24 kHz)
- The ribbon tweeter (for precise and pleasant treble)

The frequency curve seems neutral enough

The stereo image is excellent: I can hear stereo effects that I could not detect even over headphones (DT 770 Pro)

The sound is clear and precise across the spectrum returned. Pregnant stop 50 Hz and below is more complicated. Sub apparent evil, but we know what we are buying.

Dynamics is well respected, low or high power. And I can tell you that there is reserve! We feel that they want one thing, it's being pushed! I saw many reviews before I went and a lot of people take them for their home theater.

OVERALL OPINION

I've had less than a week and I use them 4-5 hours a day. It is a real treat. No fatigue.

What I like the most is the quality of the songs I listen to. And I confess to a leering Qobuz subscription to enjoy it. Mp3 is a rotten hear live. And between a Studio Master Qobuz and 128kbs mp3, are more photo!

What I like least ... probably their design but I'm getting. Size too imposing. The little lack of bass below 50 Hz is also damage. But it is 8 inches and if you want to go under, it will add a sub. My neighbors are not in a hurry.

Before the Behringer, I had Yamaha HS50M I did not really like. I have sold too tiring as garish in the treble. In addition, the lack of bass was a real problem for my favorite style of music, electro.

The value for money? EXCELLENT. 379 euros the pair ... seriously! I was eyeing on Adam A7X ... similar characteristics with ribbon tweeter ... prettiest course, but almost 3 times more expensive! And frankly I'm not disappointed with the B3031A. Again, Taken EXCELLENT value.

I have yet to experience and I would go listen to dear models to see what the ultimate sound. But considering how I block it, I think they fully satisfy me.

OVERALL OPINION

I acquired a week ago and so far everything is going well ...
Excellent value for money (bought new € 369)
What I like the most? Excellent sound quality even at low volume.
What I like least? The low volume unusable Auto-off function (speakers off automatically when the audio signal is too weak) This function was for me very important. It was supposed to avoid having to constantly have to think about turning on the speaker and the turn (I'm lazy and forgetful). Short, this point of view there is missing!
For other (non-lazy and forgetful), very good investment!

I had a monitor with 8 "woofer capable of reproducing almost my bass, while remaining rights and enjoyable for the occasional mixing, components and listening fun. The ribbon tweeters were a plus since they are normally less directive, to move his head a little while you work.

Another bonus, the vent at the front to stick them up against a wall if necessary, the three acoustic settings and the entries pointing downwards allowing better storage.

I put a 10/10 for sound quality, knowing that there are better obviously, but also much more expensive. From a viewpoint quality / price ratio, I think we would not fly to the pair 7-800 €, 359 € is absolutely brilliant.

The sound is linear and analytical while remaining pleasant, the bass is a little firmer than my Genelec 1031apm, the stereo is a little worse and rendering mediums 1-3kHz a little rough but you can enjoy a vast triangle of listening and there's certainly something to work. Errors are glaring mix on these speakers.

Dynamic rating is very good too, with enough reserve power to blow up the ears.

OVERALL OPINION

I did the comparo with a lot of speakers 8 "up ​​to € 5-600 and I found:

KRK RP8 - low in the middle, low imprecise, very audible breath at rest
Fostex PM2 - such as KRK hyperflation with less serious (I got them home for a few months.
Mackie MR8 - imprecise but not at all fatiquantes
Prodipe Ribbon Pro 8 - similar to the Truth but worse bass, treble a bit exaggerated, LED (light) blue imbitable and recurring quality problems
HS80M - tiring, messy in the lower midrange and aggressive in its closed too but not as analytical as the NS10M

The Truth seem balanced and can work without tiring the ears too. After if I could afford it, I would look to the Big Adam or Focal, but below € 7-800 I have not found anything better, they approach really Genelec less directivity, a little less flattering ( uncorrected) and stereo image somewhat less defined, a little less dynamic but also 80% less in price, it was around € 2000 a pair of 1031A if I remember correctly. Incidentally, I prefer Truth to HR824 that I know well also.

After it is a matter of taste, go listen to them (making sure the trim is at 0,-6dB was an alteration made to the enclosure), also compare and see what fits your normal listening . We can mix on anything, even on the low end hifi if you know its good speakers, but I prefer the Truth in this price range and for now, I do not intend to put more
