Yamaha PM-170 is a stereo mixer with 6 inputs. So 6 pre-amp (API clone) followed by two acute low EQ and a high pass filter.

UTILIZATION

- The general configuration is it simple?

SOUNDS

- The console is transparent?
No, the preamps are not "transparent". It is a very nice grain that really looks like a lot to that provided by the preamp 550 series PLCs. That's what makes the charm of the preamp Yamaha PM-180 in my opinion!

- Introduced she breath?
If you put everything so thoroughly, and even saturation ... But if not, in common use I have not detected.

- The equalizer is effective? ...
I have not used this feature too for now. But the little I've used it seemed efficient and more musical.

OVERALL OPINION

- How long have you use it?
I acquired almost two months ago after using it in a studio.

- What is so special that you like most and least?
Plus: Grain preamp!
The least: the gain is not the same on different channels (vintage vintage ...)

- Have you tried many other models before buying it?
I worked with different types of preamps yes. However, this is not so much the look I was looking preamp but the grain API ... I have not really tried before buying.

- How would you rate the quality / price?
When you know that $ 550 API is around € 2,200, see emerge a PM-180 is a OCCAZ not to be missed when the grant is skinny!
