Dave Smith Instruments Prophet '08 Desktop Pot Edition

SOUNDS

the sound is very typical and like all my machines is precisely why I'm in love.
I was lucky to find a Books (AF on the way) and I honestly do not understand how you can sell a similar instrument. you can do so many things with: Lead sequences (with the internal sequencer), the bass very natural, especially the incredibly deep aquifers ...
we finally recognize easily the prophet and of his example, I metttrai my May to cut, it is used by Tom york in his solo projects (Atoms for Peace) and also by Boards Of Canada.

OVERALL OPINION

soon a year since I utlise.

value for money: it is not expensive for the instrument it is.
and I think it will remain an instrument of same value in several decades ...

A great value anyway.

8-channel oscilloscope chacuns 2 (+ noise). Synchro two oscilloscopes possible.
No sub tilt which is a shame (you can compensate with Stack Mode).
Possibility to split the keyboard, or hold two different patches (stack mode). Polyphony so obviously going to 4 channels in this mode.
Triangle wave, saw, sin, saw / sine and square width variable from 0 to 100.
Three modes corresponding to 3 unison detune values ​​between 8 channels.
Opportunities modulations niagaresques: 4lfo, 3EG, 4modulators, 4pistes sequencer, audio mod (modulation of the cutoff frequency of the filter by the noise), and I may be forgetting.

UTILIZATION

Publishing more qu'aisée given the number of knobs. Who knows the subtractive be comfortable. Some parameters can be found in sub-menus, but they are still relatively fast and is accessible parameters of lesser importance. Manual a bit short and downright cheap on the other hand but good.

SOUNDS

I love the sound (sounds) of this synth. The eight channels can pose heavy cloths fabulous wealth. In fact, I realized after receipt of synth that I was composing more music, I spent my time playing, listening to the synth. Having before it a Korg Radias is a phenomenon that had ever happened.

OVERALL OPINION

This is the one I wanted.
I have bought 4 months ago and still operates perfectly charming. This is my first analog so my opinion is probably biased by the lack of knowledge of existing synths in this category.
I realize that this opinion is not very comprehensive, but I hope it helps anyway.
