The Moog Music Taurus is an extremely unique synthesizer in the form of foot pedals. It has a full octave of foot pedals similar to that of those seen on an organ. The foot pedals are attached to large bodied synth that contains a variety of control features including presets.
Using the Moog Music Taurus isn’t all that difficult, but does take a little bit of time to understand exactly what everything does as there is a lot to this synth. It has two large sliders to control the level of the filter and loudness and in between the two of them are the sliders and knobs to control the sound of the synthesizer in terms of filtering and resonance. It also has a variety of presets that are pretty awesome sounding. Being that this is an older instrument, I never had access to a manual so I can’t say how helpful it is.
The sound of the Moog Music Taurus pedals is absolutely awesome. I got into using this after seeing Geddy Lee of Rush using it and I am really glad that I have had the pleasure of using these. It is capable of getting all of the classic Moog bass tones you think of when you think of Moog and then has a variety of other great synth sounds as well. These are especially cool in design because it allows you to have a great sounding synth bass to go along with whatever you can fit in your hands. This sounds has truly become classic.
I’ve only been using the Moog Music Taurus for about a year but I can safety say that this is one of the coolest synths that I’ve ever used. It is just really interesting to play because of the foot pedals and of course because it is a classic Moog made synth. These can be found used pretty frequently, but they do come at a rather expensive price and for good reason. I would recommend trying these out somehow before buying to see if its something that will fit your needs as it is pricey. If you love the world of Moog synthesizers, the Taurus is a must try!
