UTILIZATION

For those familiar with roland no problem and for others, a period of adaptation is ncessaire, but the record is plutt well done.

SOUNDS

The same sounds that sound module or JV-1080 JV-2080, so good trs, trs still sounds good for its age (1993).
all styles are REPRESENTATIVES, trs ct synthse Polyval ... there are all it takes to make good sounds (TVA, TVF, multi-effects, filters etc.. ) and with the acquisition of SR-JV cards you multiply by 4 the amounts of waveform and patches.

OVERALL OPINION

The XP-60 and the real little ERRF the XP-80 is exactly the same except it has a simple 61-key keyboard.

There is almost everything you need for a machine of its age!

UTILIZATION

The use is not simple but it can be trs avoid over the functions essential and you get used to. The manual is not clear trs. He said usually what use such a command ("switch GM RECEIVE message is" ON, the messages are reus and GM are not ... OFF) plutt to say how to do this or that such as putting messages on GM Receive, bank and program change to OFF if you do not want to stay in GM mode, which does not use all the synth sounds when you want to hack a squence noon. ..

But once you understand how to do this or that, it's a real pleasure and we realize that the use is quite flexible. It is easy to program in layer perfs, ringing the parties of their choice, transfer them and play on their volume in real time ...

One of the strengths of the machine is the possible use of up to 5 diffrent pedals to send MIDI messages or instructions to squenceur.

SOUNDS

The factory sounds are blah and dats, except the tablecloths. Synthse opportunities are vast, as shown in the disk that came with the synth dmo and contains rglagles users. The sound is warm and plutt suggests some ground on a breath enough CHARACTERISTICS. Many sounds are available on the net.

SRJV with cards, it was more of trs sounds good practitioner. I for my part orchestral charts, bass and drums, 60s & 70s session, and it plutt not bad!

I put 7 as the keyboard Obviously not show its full potential with expansion cards.

OVERALL OPINION

Keyboard tip top on occasion, and even if it contains maps. I use it when I need to dplacer (10 kg when even!) Because I let my ghost, the little son of the keyboard home. I did not lose too much change ...

Synyhé 61 unweighted keys. Velocity sensitive and aftertouch.
4 faders on the front for changes in filters and other parameters edition but impossible to remember settings (reserve for changes in real time then).
64 voice polyphony (Its predecessor, the XP-50 was to be the first to be as generous to its release in 1995).
512 patches + 128 users (but 4 slots extention! Record at the time too)

UTILIZATION

Relatively simple configuration, editing simple by comparison with incredible abilities, almost clear manual in English and French users (!!!) The 128 sounds are somewhat lacking (With extensions, you can have almost 1500 patches, so Do not want to edit too.

SOUNDS

Sounds very general, but some beautiful tablecloths, and some electro sounds excellent.
Only problem: the batteries and other emulations BAR (way too low end for this category)
Huge advantage: the extension of four slots that make up the side of general patches.

OVERALL OPINION

I use it since 1999, and I'm quite closed (except for batteries ...). I'm not even tempted by the new generation of "ghost" of the brand.

I am very satisfied with the features it has. 16 track sequencer (MRC Pro), 16-part multitimbral, 64 voice polyphony,onboard effects, groove quantize, RPS, four wave expansion slots for JV series expansion boards (mine has Hip Hop SR-JV80-12 & Techno SR-JV80-11), GM general midi, and much more. The only thing that's missing is a sampler, other than that it's a musician's workstation.

Price paid

$300 and retails for $1000

UTILIZATION

It's gonna take some time to figure out how everything works on the XP-60. I got familiar with the sounds before I got into the sequencing part of the keyboard, with this keyboard like many others you just have take the learning process one step at a time. The manual is somewhat of a task in it's self i found it easier to look up the functions you want to do rather than read from page one.

SOUNDS

The sounds are great. I would say that it has basically the same sounds as the JV-1080 with the same amount of expansion slots. The sounds are basic until you load your expansion slots with sounds, my personal choice to expand your XP-60 with SR-JV80-12 HIp Hop, SR-JV80-04 Vintage Synth, SR-JV80-18 Latin, & SR-JV80-11 if your into Hip Hop, R&B, & Top 40 production, like myself.

OVERALL OPINION

The Roland XP-60 is the musician's workstation for the studio musician as well as the live musician. A well built and tough keyboard the way Roland makes them.

I really am attached to my Roland XP-60 this will be my main keyboard for all my midi gear. I wont be getting rid of it any time soon....
