All user reviews for the Native Instruments Traktor Scratch Pro

A friend gave me a demo of Traktor Scratch Pro 2 coupled Technics SL 1200 MK5 ... I was amazed!

This software coupled with its sound card and through hard Timecoded (Vinyl and CD) allows you to mix all mp3! I have a playlist of over 16,000 songs and put on USB or CD burning is still very long ... (And be constantly redo it to be always up to date!).

This software is installed on a Mac Mini or a Mac laptop where all my music is located just huge! (On a Windows PC I'm less excited ... Too much risk of crash ...).

Huge advantage: speed to find a way (on key is much longer and CD ... Must find the right one!).

I use 2 DENON DNS-3700, the Native Instruments Kontrol X1, and the Audio 4 DJ sound card (I believe it is possible to connect the MIDI turntables but I have not been able to properly configure so I dropped!).

Discomobile use.

Installation straightforward interface in English but not always easy to understand everything!

Trouble-free operation with Apple computers (I had a 2008 MacBook Pro and Mac Mini 2009, met with no crash, I've done the "small" parties with my MacBook Air 11 "2011 with no problems! My friend used with either an iMac 20 "(2008) is a Mac Mini 2011 and the result is perfect too!)

I've never seen Windows if things went as well!

No! I did not even know it existed other.


How do you rate the quality / price?

Too expensive ... Except occasion! (200/250 euros for the model Scratch Duo ok, not more!)


With experience, you do again this choice?

Maybe not! The Denon is not recognized by default MIDI TRAKTOR, whereas they are SERATO ...

But I will not change system today now that I am "broken" on Traktor!

it is now a year and a half that I have traktor scratch pro.

what motivated me to purchase, this is the first aspect of the software that seem to me very intuitive, with great effect. Also at the same time of my purchase was a Native Istrument operation -50% on traktor scratch pro. So I did not hesitate a second.

I use traktor ESSENTIALLY to animate private party.

I also bought a x1 Kontrol to control the effects more easily.

the manual is very comprehensive, and easy to study.

I use a mac book intel Core 2 duo 2GB RAM, 250 GB hard drive

the software runs perfectly. I've never had a bug in the evenings.

this is my first mixing software, apart from trying to VDJ, long ago.

I searched the internet quite a bit between serato and traktor, traktor for my general use was the most suitable and much cheaper.

I use a macbook pro 2.4 ghz i5 with 4GB ram and sound card as a denon dnx-1600 with a time code in Kontrol X1.

I use it for two years, I have seen changes in the software, which improves and is more complete.
I tried several software competitors like vdj mix and vibe that I find not only the level of traktor.
I would do without this choice problem traktor is very powerful.

What characteristics have motivated your choice? it is above that can be used four decks, effects, and quite a few options that competitors have not.

For what purpose? I use it to mix in a club and it 2 times a week and also no little to my mixtape.

What is your config (Motherboard / CPU / RAM / Disk ,...)? I have a asus X72J 4GB of ram windows 7 and it runs very well.

Which instruments and systems (console, preamp, DTD ...) you use it and how connections? ... I use with 2 denon dns-3700 and a DJM800 kontroleur X1.

Have you tried many other models before buying it? I try virtual dj, serato SL1 and SL3 and mixvibes.

What is so special that you like most? 4 deck, and the effects, recording loops cue, the sync, the beat grid.

How would you rate the quality / price? bon.moins very expensive as serato and I see as good is more efficient and more creative than serato.

I chose traktor scratch pro versions because I use antrieures recent years, I find the interface clear and functional, the + on this release are: the effects, possibility of mixing of four "decks" sound card audio is really DJ8 complte and it is more robust (I carry my gear is often reassuring to have tough), a short latency really trs trs and a good stability.
j'uilise a bitstream 3x to control what effects and a few shortcuts, like it is stable and no worries.

I use it to mix electro, breakbeat, drum & bass a little Hip-Hop with Technics M5G's a real treat.

It is a software controller to use with turntables and otherwise less functional than the version traktor 2 which can be used with the mouse.

I am satisfied with my choice, I have tried other software equivalent, the rane serato is not bad either but less comprehensive and perhaps prfr by scratcher ...

the only problem is when changing dj evening:
with traktor scratch pro is imperative to have with you the special cables to multi Traktor
a user to switch to Traktor player classic vinyl off all his
laptop + soundcard.
(Whereas with Rane Serato SL no special wiring for this kind of
manipulation, it is possible to plug / unplug the card at any time and without disturbances).

This will serve as the totality of several points.

Before I used Traktor Studio 3, I liked this software to the possibility of mix on 4 decks.
Having then bought turntables, I wanted to buy a solution presented itself and Timecode two possibilities:
- Traktor Scratch Pro.
- Serato Scratch Live.

The hsitation was long because we have a ct:
- Traktor, which by its functionality is software built for the electro mix and for creativity.
- Serato, which by design is an ultra-stable software excellent.

Serato has also the possibility of Ableton will integrate into the GUI, which is a plus.
However, Traktor can use the very large majority of Midi Controller, sound cards ... the market.

Finally, I cracked on Traktor Scratch Pro (with Audio 8 sound card) and I do not regret the shadow of a second.
Used with a Toshiba laptop (2x2GHz, 4GB RAM, 500GB HDD 7200T / m Windows XP Pro SP3), I plant it once, but since the last update, no worries today.

The software is teractive, the timecode is no latency. However, the precision of a solution will be LOWER Timecode real vinyl. (A feeling of use, but it's a small details).

The sound is excellent, and sound card allows a multitude of possible connections. Eg 1,2,3,4 channels for Timecode, the 7.8 channels for precoute, the line-in 3 / 4 for the recording of the mix.
The fact that it is USB powered is a good thing. (The ESI U46SE is a horror for a).

I did not search for users truly possible effects (except the Filter which is very good).
Compared Traktor Studio 3, it is much better graphically. Also ergonomically.
One of the few advantages that I found that Traktor Studio Traktor Pro does not, the systm to change BPM on Traktor Studio, you could Defines the BPM were between ... and ... (Example: between 70 and 90 BPM BPM). On Traktor Pro, we have the TAP button, x2, / 2 and that's all. Damage.

Apart from this dtail, I use it with:
- A pair of Numark TTX
- A pair of EKS XP5 (not yet configured
- A UC33 (not yet configured
- An Allen Heath Xone 62

In short, if you hesitate between Traktor and Serato, I could not advise you any more than the other. Both are excellent software.
Traktor would be the equivalent of a PC (without bugs) while Serato would be the equivalent of a Mac.

To conclude that I am very happy with my setup, and I would not trade it for anything.

Edit: for TAP, I return to my review: the function is gnial.
It analyzes the beat and slap the DJ that the song, and determines the specific on BPM.

Otherwise, still no crash. In short, a purchase that I do not regret it.
