I use it for several years. I just switch to the nexus 900 and CDJ 2000 so I took the opportunity to give my opinion.

It's Pioneer: all comes to hand, the DJM 400 is a "small DJM 800" with a very good box effect. I just regret the switch the mic is not very practical use (open mic you forget).

The CDJ 400 is the 1st tural platinum Pioneer truly digital: She launches "clickable" knob used on all the jog is small but very efficient and usb connection for MIDI nickel.
It integrates a sound card which simplifies connections with Traktor.

There the USB port facade that is a bit long if you have big keys.
All in a custom flight in the colors of the brand.

For me, a very versatile as well rgy adapted for the mobile disco, pro, beginner, using apps, emergency rgy ..... in short, a good product and especially compact and ger!

The price quality ratio is relatively good for the Pioneer.

I had CDJ 400 for 3 years from 2009 to 2012.

They were the first plates I had. I was told directly invest in Pioneer matter reliability and robustness that I have not regretted it.

What I liked most:
- USB Playback
- Jog wheel with built-in effects
- General Design
- USB with mapping on Traktor (provided maj firmware)

I did not really like:
- Jog too small, does not "pro"
- Accuracy of pitch, could do better

For the time I had paid $ 750 unit that was cheap (special offer Thomann) and I do not regret my choice. The advantage with the Pioneer is that it's like Apple laptops, value takes time to descend. So I've sold three years later to 680 euros each!

Very good turntables to start the mix at low prices!

I use it for 4 years and I've never had any problems.

Did you try many other models before buying it?
I had DJ Gemini MPX-40 previously, the reactivity of keys is much more accurate with the Pioneer.

What is so special that you like most and least?
Most: a first plate with auto loop, and very easy to use, quick start.
Least: watching the new models is the lack of hot cue or sample, screen a bit small.

How do you rate the quality / price?
Pioneer has always been expensive but the quality is the appointment

With experience, you do again this choice?
Yes, for platinum compact easy to carry and very adequate for the "Home DJ".

I tested other decks and other brands I can not find such a precision that these plates (pitch and jog). Of course having tested the cdj 900 850 or 2000, that the board is larger, the accuracy is even better.
loop auto shifts quickly but catchability.
Fast loading of cd or usb
Good effects (I do not use those Vynil mode, less useful) and I do not use vinyl mode (paz of srcatch) just to make a little backspin
Small negative point: the management of a usb hard drive, do not think about and use of a usb stick or 2GB max.
On my pair of CDJ400, I cons by a recent problem, can not eject the cd on a platinum (she is 4 years old), I expect an estimate for repair

We had CDJ200 before it has always elsewhere.

I do not use them often myself, they go on Loc or used by other dj on our contracts. In two years, there is one whose optical block had to be changed. Other than that no worries with.
I think they offer a lot of possibilities but have not affected the accuracy and the other top models of the brand. Basically if you are already general public and that there is more to the songs past and feel that for the technique and art of the mix, it is perfect.

I do it again this election if the demand for rental of such increases in our cd player ...

I shot for 20 years with Technic turntables MK (top), then I worked in parallel with Numark CD AXIS9 for 3 years.

What is so special that you love the most, least?
I made the mobile disco for 27 years now (40 night / year), the material evolves, so must monitor and this plate is enough for the mobile disco, is the USB, and can connect a hard disk, it is said to mix the tempo, nice effect, it does not take place and super reliable, I've never had a failure.

I used these plates 4 years and quality / price I must admit that I have so far not found anything better.

I have owned CDJ100S, CDJ200, CDJ800 CDJ1000 and now cdj850.

As I said, I used cdj100/200/800/1000/2000.
it's been six years since I worked in a club of 1000 I had recently sold beh I have to use the 400 ... 2 points for accuracy and especially the USB.
Knowing that 350 850 new range etc. are very below what was done before the malgrés us and the 2000 are still expensive, my choice was focused on the 400.

The CDJ 400 is primarily a product of entry-level professional platinum, and must be judged as such I think.
Indeed, although it is not the level of the CDJ 1000 and Big Sisters, the cdj 400 is comparable to the price, because except for the jog which I think is its only major flaw (too small asse and not nervous), it is of a similar type to the other cdj.
It completely respect the expectations of a pro as amateur dj, and offers the same basic services and essential dj than any other model in the range.
It is perfect for the discovery of the mix, and also agree to pro. She taught me to mix, and it is this that I made by hand (club mix now and prod), I have no regrets. From all my rookie mistakes, it does absolutely not.

The more unlike many I would say that is the price, as a model as good you will not find better at this price.

Is probably the least latency USB key, the lack of display (screen too small, no first hand of the song it's a shame ...).

CDJ 800 too old and lacks links computer or USB hard drive

Yes I do it again this choice I regret nothing ... is an excellent material for train ... if you mixes well with 400 while with 1000 it's just the ride!

I use these plates for 2 years with a DJM 400 for flight home.
They are connected to a MacBook with Traktor Pro: near-zero latency and excellent.
(I also have a Kontrol X1 for effects)

I love their compactness (with the DJM 400) which is a real plus in discomobile.
I love Midi HID compatibility allows seamless integration with DVS: the screen shows the details of soft .... it's really complete.
And finally I find complete ultra: CD, MP3 via USB and then USB connection for softs and sound card very good.

I find against it by a little heat.

I'm glad these models, to me well over 350 toy that really .... apart Recordbox. Good on the other hand Pioneer, still too expensive!

I bought this new Platoche in 2009.

As for the other models tested, no I have not done, I stayed on the Pioneer since I started but I tried for 2 months a Audiophony CDX6, too complicated and problems with it. I have owned the cdj 100s and a cdj200 cdj 350. What's more, aside from the quality of the plates either in the solid sound quality, everything is good.

Other people will see in Pioneer expensive machines, where you pay the brand, I do not quite agree. Yes it's expensive, but when I see that I have owned a CDJ 100 s for 5 years with no problems with regular use, others do not necessarily. Another example, the keys are hard plastic and strong, other brands of caouchouc that bar at the end.

So yes all apparaeils fail, I am not an electronics but I'm sure. But there are devices that last longer than others.

Regarding features, everything has already been said. I like the three built-in effects, it scratch the function, reverse. Good after I use it almost not be said that the scratch is not perfect and precise it is better to buy the models above.
What happened to me interesting is the USB port because it's convenient, it is not constantly trying to burn CDs, and also the display of titles that I is compulsory from 'working with the mp3.

As against what I find disturbing is the waiting time before reading the USB drive if it has a lot of titles.

Price / quality ratio, I find it a bit expensive like all Pioneer products, but as I said above, the quality is there. With this machine, we're going to Essenciel, not something useless or difficult to resolve.

As for the choice, I do not think I will redeem this machine for two simple and practical reason, not because I had problems:
-The first thing is that this model not been manufactured since replaced by the CDJ 350
And the second reason is that I can not afford to have old hardware, so I repeated frequently, but as I said in the first reason, we find nine more.

. The effects are crap scratch.

I really wonder if it's worth its price ... This is a piece of plasticky and the only reason to buy it and below that, there is not much and that it is priceless. I am still convinced that Denon has a much better price performance.
