The DDJ-SB is announced as more compact as the other USB MIDI DJ controllers of the series but it offers the same important features as the DDJ-SX and DDJ-SR. It is optimized for integration with Serato DJ and DJ intro and ships with the latter.
You’ll find on the DDJ-SB two jog wheels, 8 performance pads as well as high and low-pass filters for each channel. Two effect units are also available per channel, with a choice of 6 effects which parameters can be adjusted with the single Level/Depth control.
On this DDJ-SB, Pioneer debuts a new Filter Fader feature that adds a high-pass filter to the crossfader in order to help DJs to create smooth transitions between songs.
The controller also includes a Serato sound card and the connection panel hosts a 1/4" microphone input, a RCA Master output, two headphone outputs and a USB port.
Serato DJ (full paid version) users also benefit from a recording function.
Pioneer offers beginners a dedicated website with interactive tutorials that will guide them in the exploration and handling of the features on the DDJ-SB.
The Pioneer DDJ-SB will be available starting January 2014 for the suggested price of 249€. More info at pioneerdj.com.
