This is one of Sennheiser's many cardiod dynamic microphones. It is a wired mic with an on off switch. <br><br>

I am a gigging musician in a country rock band.

I bought this because I wanted to try something different than the industry standard Shure SM-58. A lot of my musician friends told me that Sennheiser was the way to go so I figured I would give this one a try. I picked it up on clearance for $40.

It is a dynamic mic when it comes to responsiveness. You can get some neat effects with slight changes to the angle you are singing into it. It is very clear and doesn't muffle the lows. The highs are chimy and it doesn't bring out the plosives as much as the 58 does.

It doesn't bring out the lows like the 58 does. This is a negative for me because my voice is high heavy and the low bump when you get into the mic is nice with the shure. This obviously isn't a negative if your voice is low heavy. It could be a little hotter.

The construction seems to be pretty strong, but I have already had some trouble with the finicky on off switch. I don't think you would want to drop it from any height.

It is a good mic, especially for someone that wants a good clarity and doesn't sing with many effects. I still prefer the Shure but this mic was a great buy at $40.

The E840 is a mid-range micro-series evolution. For 89 euros or 99 euros in pack with cable and foot, is already a good price!

A dynamic micro-enriched media and virtually insensitive to feedback, excellent! The capsule is mounted on suspension to avoid handling noise. The hat I say really! It is more than silence! I used to be a micro-suspension but it vibrated too much and we did not hear the sounds of manipulation, but the suspension!

I use it for a little while! Voice, singing guitar, flute ... Always good!

I regret not to 10/10 because it no longer ships with a nice box as before but with a padded package.
Pack of 99 euros also comes with a bad foot greenhouse at the pole and it tends to fall rapidly under the weight of the microphone.

OVERALL OPINION

So I use this mic since September 2011. I used to catch his voice, singing, flute guitar. No problem. Very weak coupling to the feedback, I had to push the speakers and the equation to arrive at them whistle! I have also never again (ouch!).

The most: his grip, very refined design of the series evolution. It's good to change the good old microphones, grate round, gray and black! Not here it is gray-black, very jeuli! The weight! It is heavy, demonstrated strength! Before I had an old microwave very light (and I thought already heavy!) But it is much more!
Cons: Let's see ... No, it's perfect!

So I tried another microphone before it. Of the same brand but older than thirty years! It belonged to my father. I dropped the microphone for an evening ... Snif! It was the Profisound Md I know what! But we can see an equivalent in old emissions of 80-90 years.

Quality / price ratio very good, for 89 euros was a very good mic for years!

With experience, of course I would do this choice!

Party to purchase a Sennheiser E845, I'm tempted by this new jewel, the E840.

I bought it with his foot pack + cable + clamp, which is really very practical!

It also works well for my voice (severe) than that of a friend (acute).

It has a very special grain, unlike the SM58 that I find a bit flat ...

I tried an e815, a PG 48 and SM 58, which is, I think, the better.
Ms. ERRF his small, the E815 is less sensitive to feedback that the SM 58!
