Bought for $400 used to replace my less-than-adequete digitech rp-12. In particular I wanted better light overdrive sounds and better quality effects than the rp-12 could give

External effects loop! I can throw whatever pedal I want into the effects chain.

Programable effects order - add delays before distortion if you want, wah after distortion, etc ... any effect can be put
wherever.

Boss also gives you a lot of flexibility with the EQ ... EQ settings are found in the amp simultar effect, in place of a modulation effect and as a global effect ... all very useful for what they were intended for (emulating an amp sound, sculpting the sound, and compensating for you amp/PA set up).

They also gave a lot of different phaser sounds, but since I'm not a phaser guy I can't really comment on how useable they all are.

Another appreciated addition is a trim knob next to the guitar input ... so I apply a hot signal from a mixer, or various guitar instrument levels without adjusting effects volumes.


Lots of gimmick effects like ring modulation that over 99% of the people who buy this will never use. Also the wah is *very* weak - it has no 'roundness' to it at all, it just sounds very dead.

The preamp/amp simulator is very bad by today's standards as well... you can't get crunchy metal sounds, warm tube amp sounds, or much useful in between. What you can get are very sterile, solid state sounding distortions ... think Boston.

They left out a 6 or 8 voice chorus too, so I have to stick my old boss chorus ensemble pedal in the fx loop


The case is metal, and seems pretty rugged. The pedals also feel like they're not going anywhere.

If you don't use lots of wah, and you already have a nice sounding amp this should give all the effects and flexibility you will need. But if you're like me (playing through small practice amps and PA systems), this will not give nice organic tube-ish guitar sounds.

Pdalier floor with expression pedals intgre. Many effects (feedback, compressor, simulators and speaker amplifiers, distos, chorus, flanger .... in short the total). Possibility to connect to the south of pc for transfers (in sense 2). Very practical to store a large number of rglages download on internet or CRER a backup presets without breaking the head.

UTILIZATION

Simple enough rgler (there are for each pRSET effects, and helps in the beginning). however, is more tedious to look for his trs prcis (some rglages range from a value of 0 in 1800, and can increase only incremented by 1, which is quite tiring). But the manual is clear trs, and is responsible for many of the effects of each dcrire rglage on his gnral. A good point!

SOUND QUALITY

My guitar is a Cort X2 (who said that the guitars sounded bad balls in 2000? The comfort of the game is certainly less than the guitars more expensive, but it is well dj trs), and I place in a rack amp (Marshall 8008) and a Hiwatt 4x12 cabinet (SE4123). The amp simulations ragissent like real amps: turning down the volume knob, you get crunchy sounds wish (Hendrix, SRV ...). But Fast Fashion distos of the most violent possible, even if the saturation trs trs modern savages are Submitted, but there are ways to approach it without flinching. The only weak point is that the sound with headphones trs fuzzy (but it is not intended for use headphones). The distos sound good, but I see myself all the time forced HP to enable the simulator, otherwise the sound quickly becomes dirty trs. I told him just adding a V-amp 2 for simulation models, and it is a duo from hell. A good place also for the chain of effects, where one can manipulate the order of desire in the effects loop. Once you know how to use, you can have the sound which rve.

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for 1 year dj and I test many pdaliers rcents (Boss GT6, GNX3 ...) and it does not weaken. The Wha wha trsraliste has a grain, and only the type of distortions mtal have a quality of its limit. For nothing wrong against its clean. a Russianness!

The boss gt5 is a multi effects pedalboard together many boss pedals and an amp simulation and hp. effects are available: feedback / slowgear, compressor / limiter, wah, distortion, equalizer, delay, chorus, tremolo / pan, reverb. There is also a section where you can choose between any of these effects (and yes only one, the problem comes first!) Harmonizer, flange, phase, sub equalizer, short delay, humanize, ring modulator, tremolo, acoustic guitar simulator , guitar synth.
Also, there is a loop insertion FOR A distortion, but you can put what you want BECAUSE chain of effects is placed in the order desired ...

UTILIZATION

Frankly I have been slow to understand everything, but because I am a lazy and dirty that it took six months before I open the record and come to me the holy revelation! Damn but it of course! ... Basically you have to force a little to eat anything during the manual .... 2 hours while a break! And we control the multi purpose. The manual is very clear. Boring but very clear. Editing sounds is easy. And general configuration that can impress a novice, is quickly extinguished.

SOUND QUALITY

The effects section has merit. We find the sound of the boss pedals. At least in terms of classic effects. The inverse delay is almost unusable because of a "click" that keeps coming with each repetition. When the effects crazy guitar synth as the same. Do not think having a synthesizer in buying this gt5 ... in this area is really quality "Gadget".
That said not much was said about the other effects that are mostly of high quality and flexible as desired.
Maybe a bad note for the compressor but what effect has a multi compressor worthy of the name?
As for the amp simulation ... What about ...? He took a shot of old I think. It is better to see what gt5 like a very good multi effects and go elsewhere with regard to the preamp and simulation hp. Not that bad to be away from, but we are still not in the presence of a quality that can offer a pod or better ... a real tube amp!
So here I note the sound quality of effects ... I do not care about the amp simulation.

OVERALL OPINION

I use this gt5 for 4 years, it allowed me to tame all kinds of effects. The effects are almost all very good. To me the amp simulation and hp is now over.
The quality / price was just at the time ... I would do certainly this choice elsewhere. But at the time! ... Today I look rather for the pod but this is due to my personal evolution, I attach more importance to the quality of the sound effects as such.
I recommend it to all those who already have an amp or a good simulator and who want to use tons of effects of quality.

UTILIZATION

Setup is simple once you understand the principle, but it is not easy because of the "menu / submenus and the old rocker that I do not have!

The manual is comprehensive but frankly not very explicit, particulirement possibilities for branching volume pedals / contrle external MIDI control and that allows cell.

I use it in mthode "4 wires", this subject you can put all the effects o you want before, or after the loop: so everything is possible.

SOUND QUALITY

N'tant not a fan of multi-effects, but many of my old sr GP8, I have no such purchase prdisposait: finnalement and is a favorite that I have a friend from bothering APRS sell me his test. Obviously he did not want that big marmoset but few hours later I was in business for 130 fdp on the internet ...

Small precision all the same: I do not use the function Pramper nor simultaneous HP ... well I tried but I found frankly dgueu

The compressor / limiter, although a coat so warm as the GP8 is very effective I used to saturate the clean channel of my classic, and so I get a very nice warm crunch without shaking the walls.
There is a distortion that I love: OD vintage distortion, "which perfectly UNESCORecords channel saturated my vintage 30
I admit as much fun with the "slow gear": to erase the super attack mdiator did approach the fluidity of his Allan Holdsworth (I said: close)
The Dealy sounds very good (well as insert sr), and the tap is handy
Chorus / Flanger is not bad but not too cold ... more ... numrique what!
The Harmonizer ragit very well and therefore I allow myself a few forays into the 80s thanks to him, on the other hand not hot enough to make use of octaves ... but I find j 'silent too used my old boss probably 0C2.
Synths, if you're lucky enough to find the right rglages of sensitivity can PROVE very nice, and I use them more often than I would have imagined .. perfect for the old jazz rock very fat!
The reverb is trsdcevante cons, she works well (haha) but Reveals the limits of processing power of the camera: prfrez him a small tip Lexicon Alex, you'll gain in class
The acoustic simulator is going to say recess, innutilisable ...



OVERALL OPINION

I use it now for 10 months, ILM is part of my set, much to the astonishment of my friends and the public sometimes surprised to hear a vintage sound and c'te bebte see my feet!

In addition to the possibility of enormous contrle MIDI, and you can very well connect two external contleurs plus two of the unit, assign what you want and control Ableton Live by example ....

The standard black dot, and I never understood how they could dare to have is the absence of Controller ls to change channels from the amp ... something so practical and simple DCID they override this stuff ... well ..... silent on my GP8 presents dj in 1789 .... the voices are impn engineer for Trablit.

Since there is no ideal pdalier, like this some very good effects and great possibilities of contrle yes I would do this choice.
