Ibanez AX7221
Published on 12/17/02 at 15:00I was cristmas shopping for myself and i decided i needed a new guitar. I walked into the nearest rawsons music and started looking around. I wanted something different and fun. I walked across the ibanez ax7221 7-string. oh! a seven string is gonna be so expensive. But i was wrong. I got this guitar for $315.
I love this guitar. Being only 14 years old i am the only kid into town with such a guitar or the ability to play it.This guitar has a great sound. It makes doing gigs around town with my band easy because the weight. It is so light.

Well the first bad that caught my eye is that the weight distribution is odd. when standing with the strap on, the head stock end of the guitar tends to lean towards the ground and the back end comes up. It gets kinda annoying. Other than that i havent found any significantly bad things about this guitar.
I have already stated that i love how light this guitar is. i have also said although it is light the weight ditribution bothers me. i havent owned the guitar for to long but it hasnt broken or shown signs of wearing down yet and i hope it doesnt anytime soon.
Overall I really like the ibanez ax7221. i find it far better than my squier i had before i purchased this guitar.

Surely makes Tawan is a 7-string guitar with a classic double cut-away type but with a fine body of modern guitar and a modern Bolt too, what an Ibanez ... . Two doubles, fixed bridge, two volume, two tone and a slecteur.
UTILIZATION
The neck is super enjoyable, a little off because of the 7-string, a little flat derrire with all buttons accessible.
This guitar is pretty lgre due its modern design, for such balance against just head down like an SG, I like too ....
As for sound, I think the pickups are a little weak people especially with a 7-string you expect to have a guitar that sounds for the metal. It MRIT other Ibanez pickups especially to other 7-string guitars that sound...…

As for sound, I think the pickups are a little weak people especially with a 7-string you expect to have a guitar that sounds for the metal. It MRIT other Ibanez pickups especially to other 7-string guitars that sound otherwise.
SOUNDS
As I said, the pickups are a little weak and since I mainly metal, apche a little .... I play with a Crate Blue Voodoo and also a set Preamp Engl 530 -> DBX 166XL -> Peavey Classic 50/50, one or another branch in a Marshall 1960 cabinet but a lack of consistency and Ibanez with the grain compared to other guitars I have.
OVERALL OPINION
It's been a year since I have it, I bought it because I wanted to try the 7-string era. It's not a guitar super quality finish is correct and not the top but strangely I like this guitar, because it may be that one of the few 7-string that does not resemble the any other kind Ibanez K7 the edge, finally ............
I use it mainly for the art work home now since I have two other guitars ...
I would say that gnral it is not too bad since, if I remember correctly I had to pay less than 500 euros. The finish is correct-even when she holds the tuning well and is super enjoyable to play.
It can be good for a 7-string Premire if you do not want to invest directly in his pay a K7, RG7321, VAI or other ESP .... may be a BC Rich platinum forms but must love .....

This is a 7-string with 2 humbuckers, a 3 position selector, 2 volume + 2 tone knobs, and a super nice mache end, the guitar is light.
UTILIZATION
The handle end is very nice to play is not forced. Access to acute is excellent considering the shape of the guitar. It is super well balanced is very light which is not always the case with 7 strings. And quite frankly, with a good amp, you get a good sound that still lack a bit of fishing ...
SOUNDS
This 7-string for the metal plays the game well even if it lacks a little power, I managed to get a big sound with my H & K TRIAMP, or POD Pro. If you do not have a very good amp, you will have to spend a little time to make it sound but...…

I bought this guitar there is a little over 2 years. I really thought to use it but the style of my components is turned more pop / rock then the 7th chord is not really necessary. For cons I find this guitar super comfortable, very nice. But she sleeps in its cover ......

- 7-string guitar, bought in the U.S., but certainly made in Japan for the price paid for nine.
- 22 frets, 2 humbuckers Ibanez.
- Fixed bridge, strings through the body of the guitar.
- 3 position pickup selector type Gibson SG / Les paul, 4 pots of settings: 1 volume and 1 tone by microphones.
- Handle end and quite nice, except the time to fit the width of the 7-string, nothing to say on this side of ...
The finish is rather strong, I bumped several times, and I do not see any scratches ...

The finish is rather strong, I bumped several times, and I do not see any scratches ...
UTILIZATION
As mentioned above, the handle 7 can rope a little confusing at first, like all 7-string when you are not used, but it is very very fast. As "SG" gives access to a sharp reproach.
The main drawback is a certain lack of balance tends to tilt the guitar a little forward, but it's a matter of personal habit that does not bother me that much ...
The mechanisms are not very high quality (probably one reason for the price of the guitar), and if only one bend the strings a bit, we move quickly time has réacorder ... That said, I until now owned guitars with Floyd and block-chords, which was not used very promptly that either ... I recently changed the mechanics for self-Sperzel blocks much better, and my problems désacordage it almost disappeared, which is useful for keeping a clear agreement on a 7-string.
Apart from these problems, the handling is fast enough and he did not falu too long to feel at ease with ...
SOUNDS
My style of music ranges from Hendrix Slipknot ... but the goal was to acquire a 7-string not too expensive, without buying a dung either, to explore other sounds and play stuff has Facory Fear or Korn ... to say it's worth a high-end Ibanez, it's enough for me, live recordings repeats or characters, and even considering some "upgrades" done a little later (microphones and mechanical), it remains quite affordable compared to other 7-string, while having a more than adequate and quite suitable to the use sought ..
I played for a long time on a Marshall DSL 100 + effect on Boss GT5, Mesa Dual occasionellemt a friend, concerts and regularly repeated every week ... now GT8 home, and this guitar has always been very well involved, a big sound in all situations, tuning that takes the road after the change of mechanical ...
I equipped all my guitars with Seymour Duncan SH6, as is the sound that suits me, and it's the same in version 7 strings. The Seymour really make a difference with the basic Ibanez pickups, and I think it's also an "upgrade" needed for whatever your needs even if they are all the same road, microphones bases are not too accurate give her a little too "mushy" ... But again it's pretty subjective because I wanted to have a consistent tone from my guitars .. 3
The sound is rather "large" compared to my floyd equipped guitars, was because of the string passing through the body of the guitar that give me a resonance enriching the sound ... I really love this way is that ringing has adapted to the use that I made a big sound in saturated and rich, warm both solo and in clear ...
OVERALL OPINION
I have this guitar since 2004, using it almost every day since its purchase.
The least are the mechanics of too low quality, and it is better to be good on a 7-string, and the original pickups that, while not entirely bad, are unclear ...
Honest, I cracked on the overall look of the guitar that I find to fall, and the form SG which is not common for a 7-string and form stratabound sampiternelle ... so I jumped on it, eventually to be convinced by the low price here (U.S.), without really compared to other guitars in the same range, but I think that I will not buy other 7 strings of more traditional forms anyway. ..
The change of mechanical and microphones are really necessary for me, but if we add these costs to the purchase price of the guitar, it's still very affordable compared to others.
I find the body, the neck, the bridge and the knobs (which everything else!) Very good, and I think I made the right choice to opt for an "improvement" of a guitar with a not too expensive less common form (and beeeelllle) than others.
