The TC Electronic Desktop Konnekt 6 is a 2 in and 4 out firewire interface that has a built in preamp and comes with recording software. I have used the Konnekt 6 with other software though; you do not have to use the software that comes with it if you do not want to. You could run into some compatibility issues using it with your own software but there are ways to get it to work. My problem was that I was having some driver issues between the interface, Acid Pro and my computer. But after I uninstalled everything then reinstalled and didn’t load the software that came with the Konnekt 6 everything worked fine from that point on.

UTILIZATION

This interface comes with Cubase LE which is a great software to work with, if you are a beginner it will be a great software to start with and this interface is very user friendly. It has low latency drivers and can be used on a Mac and PC. It is also compatible with ASIO drivers which are pretty much a must have right now for any one making music from a personal computer at home (ASIO drivers are free).

GETTING STARTED

This interface comes with M40 Studio reverb by a company called AlgoFlex, I have never used this reverb because I tend to use my own plug ins for my reverb, but I would imagine that it would be a pretty standard reverb since it is free and comes with the Konnekt 6 interface.

OVERALL OPINION

This interface is built very well for it to be under 200 dollars. It comes with everything you need right out of the box to start recording and that is a huge bonus. I have not experienced anything bad with this interface but I have heard some bad things using it with Windows 7. I do not have Windows 7 to test it with, if you are thinking of purchasing this and you have Windows 7 you should do some research first.

I use it with keyboards, guitars, bass, percussion, microphones ...
So: two output jacks, 2 in, 1 headphone jack dispatcher sent to a multi-headphone jack and firewire for power supply and the reverb!

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for a few days ...
Its addition, the side "to everything" combined with a good sound ...
Moreover, since we do not ask myself the question ... I will tell you that my impression is this: Having a Firebox and a Motu (in repair ... ) ... I would say that the sound coming out of this little card paid less than 230 euros is certainly far less detailed than the hot Motu but ... not that much compared to the Firebox has it, a very cold ...
The Konnekt6 is thus placed in a better position than the firebox made in terms of overall sound and below the Motu ... The Konnekt has a lower pan, is a little less "hot" ... But we are dealing here with a very good deal since the Konnekt is cheaper than the Firebox, it comes with the Cubase4 and reverbs (accessible from the desktop) TC bill that has more to do name in this field.
I do not know how many presets there, but I can tell you that these reverbs are based on the "Hall", the "Room" and the "Plate" ... all of which are programmable with multiple parameters ... Function buttons and pre / post premettent save them or not.
The report is only good for someone like me, that does not require ten entries on the card and needed a good map at a lower cost! Time or months to repair my Motu ...
But I know that this little TC will not be lost! as it turns out to be very usable for the mobile ... the Motu at home ... TC's journey ... it can be done ...
One last little thing, the large button is used to manage the volume ... more you turn the turn, the more he "illuminated"!

Ideal for people who do not want an "intermediate" level of good! Ideal also as the first sound card if one is already equipped to treat MIDI and we do not want to ruin!
on the other hand, to note: no MIDI! But at a time when everything is done usb ... not so surprising as that!

I like the aesthetics, practicality in everyday use with the cover, I wanted a better sound through headphones (CAN newer than my old Edirol FA66) for the meter and the large volume. Powerful notebook PC.

UTILIZATION

The driver is not terrible when the computer falls asleep, it is to reboot.
6 Cubase, Live 8, it works fine level latency nothing to say about this rate the, but it lacks the possibility of internal routing, no internal DSP mixer, no MIDI either ...

I'm happy for her that is better than the FA-66 (ADCs that need to be much more recent), but the lack of digital I / O and internal routing nonexistent make me regret my FA-66 rather often ... It was more stable, had many more opportunities and routing flexibility. OK the sound is a little better on konnekt6, but especially the headphone that I feel the difference. Well, since I use the headset 70% of time is important. on the other hand I hate gadgets like reverb built completely useless. But I love the tactile aspect and the headphone volume separately! I bought it for troubleshooting is abroad, what it does very well, but not professional equipment in terms of functionality.
