Scarlett 2i2 - volume with apple remote control

Hi,

I use the Scarlett 2i2 with my iMac to listen to music via iTunes through active speakers. It seems that I cannot change the volume with the apple remote control (white, plastic). The volume icon is crossed out when I attempt to do so.

Does anyone know if this can be fixed? Or updated to work?
