NOTICE GLOBAL

OVERALL OPINION

7-8 months of use. I had trouble starting. I knew that cubase so far and it took me switcher vocabulary, function names, shortcuts, global logic. Now I can set up my basic work quickly.

As I changed my card in addition to software, I do not know where it comes from but I prefer the sound of the audio with this config compared to my previous config (Konnek24D + Cubase). Overall, PT is oriented with respect to audio cubase more oriented noon. The two do everything, but we feel they are not part of the same need. So, I changed the way I do today, more audio and re-re.

OVERALL OPINION

I use it only for a month and this is my first Pro tools.Avant Cubase sx2 I was and I do not regret my investment in any way.

Quick installation with the pleasant surprise of being able to copy sound banks instruments AVID (xpand, structure ..) or you wish, which can be handy if you have a dedicated hard drive for sounds (it is always preferable, history to relieve the system to read and not lose your valuable banks in case of reformatting and / or change of OS).

No conflict on the horizon with RME cards and Steinberg fireface800 MR816CSX I had, however I struggled somewhat with a client to recognize an omni Hd Hd on a Native, Protools still stuck on "loading DAE ", until I decided to start a test with Asio ASIO4 All found on the web (Press N during the boot sequence of PT to get their hands on the audio engine). Protools open Asio in this way, simply return it in the playback engine and ask the driver to switch to the HD omni ... one last restart PT and WIN! HD omni was finally recognized systematically.

Machine 1 10 Protools on windows 7 ultimate 64bit: equipped with an Intel Q6600, Asus P5Q CM, 8GB RAM, 3 HD WD Caviar Black 1TB Firewire Controller Card on Texas Instruments chipset and soundcard RME Steinberg MR816 CSX and firface800. The Stability is generally good, no crash is a lament and sessions from PT 8 and PT HD9 open perfectly.
Two Small flats anyway, concerning the error occurred on a session after a day's work: "Pro Tools WAS Unable to Auto Backup your session" (known issue since PT8) and permanent cracks in reading with interface and Steinberg were not due to any setting buffer but the pilot of my controller card that I had to switch to "legacy" in the Peripherals Manager of Windows. OVERALL OPINION

With two months back, I found this new version of Protools very good bill, faster than ever (special mention for the ability to load the entire session in the ram on native HD) and especially of stability I had known more about Pc since version 7.4.
The major new features are the channel strip from the Euphonix sytem5 (very practical and very little CPU intensive), audio (finally) in 32bit, and the fader gain direct access to each clip (region).
One can deplore the lack of true tonal correction tool (type melodyne) as found on Cubase, but developers are working on AIR maybe ...
Finally what about the updated firewire drivers calamitous Avid products (Digi002, 003, mbox) who are most often the cause stability problems encountered on the PC versions of Pro Tools ...
Anyway I do not regret buying this version 10 (not hd) after years of PT8 HD2 and 9, the power and stability are finally within reach native systems
