Steinberg Cubase SX2 has been upgraded at this point but I still own it and can provide a good review. At first glance for a newbie it can be a little bit overwhelming if you havent worked with any DAW’s before. Or even if you have worked with other DAW’s you will still need to pull out the manual because everything is a little different than you are probably use to. When installing it on my Dell laptop it gave me no troubles at all and it was a pretty quick installation. All of your basic functions with it like play, record, stop, are right in front of you and easy to find. Its just when you want to get more indepth with some stuff that you will have to learn all of the menus and how to navigate through them. Its not hard at all, you will just have to get use to it and get the feel of Cubase SX2 first.


SUITABILITY/PERFORMANCE

Steinberg Cubase SX2 works great on my system, I don’t think I had any problems with it ever. Everything with it is pretty good with CPU , keeping your CPU down when working with a DAW or music program is crucial because it can make your system start to get a little fuzzy. When I was using SX2 I was using it with a lot of plug ins and even some hardware running in through my Behringer interface. At first I couldn’t figure out how to get all of my midi and stuff set up with the audio. It was a difficult task, even after reading through the manual it still took sometime for me to get it.


OVERALL OPINION

Overall, Cubase has been doing DAWS for years now and they continue to be one of the best on the market. It this is your first time around with Cubase SX2 you could be hooked and wont use any other DAW’s on the market.

Steinberg Cubase SX2 is a sequencer that I have been using off and on for about 6 years or so. There is no particular reason why I havent made it my man sequencer. I guess I am just not as confortable with it as I am some other sequencers that are on the market. Plus at the time when it first came out I was still using a lot of hardware so I never really fully committed to being a Cubase SX2 user. But when I do decide to open up Cubase SX2 is always runs great on my system. I have no problems with it,


SUITABILITY/PERFORMANCE

I ran it on a 2 gig laptop from Toshiba and it ran great and never froze up or crashed. Even as my laptop got older and couldn’t run some other programs Cubase SX2 still worked like it did the first day that I purchased it. I know a lot of people who choose cubase sx2 over pro tools 7, (or they did at the time). I myself prefer pro tools because every studio uses it. Not every studio has Cubase SX2 on hand.


OVERALL OPINION

Overall, Cu base SX2 has a very good sequencer that is similar to most all the sequencers in most other daw systems. Some of the plus things that I like about Cubase SX2 is the mixer track. I really like the flow of the mixer tracks over any other mixer in softwares. It just works great for me, plus the compression in Cubase SX2 seems to be better than it is in acid pro and fl studio. Cubase’s mixier system with compression and some of the reverbs seem like they model off of Pro tools very closely. Maybe that’s why Cubase is compared to pro tools so much. But I would choose pro tools any day over Cubase SX2. But I still have my SX2 just don’t use it that much anymore.

Easy or hard: since the time I got used to how to Steinberg. Security system just as binding as the updates. More work on this side and on the side prices for the update is far from free ...

SUITABILITY/PERFORMANCE

So there I am happy! More stable and (presumably) less greedy than the version 1.06!
No bugs found in 5 days on a PIV 2.8GHz taf, 1GB DDR400, win XP pro and Delta 66.
Only a few conflicts with cubase old projects (but nothing serious).

OVERALL OPINION

Cubase is like a fine wine, the more it matures more he is good. The new GUI is beautiful (and looks more and more Logic as the new fonctons some essential so you do not understand that they have not thought of it before! (Freeze. ..).
Short but good and unfortunately for our wallets once again indispensable.

Installing the software alone, fastoche. As against the check-in is boring but it's not drink the sea.
No incompatibility with my system.
The manual is in English, is the black dot.

SUITABILITY/PERFORMANCE

Motherboard Asus A7M266-D, two Athlon MP2200 +, 1 GB RAM, 2 HDD SCSI Ultra 160, Delta 1010 in sound card.
SX 2 works without problem of primary bug, as the opinions prcedent, which should direct their anger at the author version of unofficial ultra bugg like Nuendo 2, rather that Steinberg.
Ergonomics manages a little more and thus more fast gaining. The sound seems more dynamic than the previous version.
Stability in the appointment. Some small problems with importing vst format or the old version but nothing serious trs.

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for two days (10 hours above) the interface is quite nice and nothing Drout when Cubase practice long ago. It is rich in tools as mulo and there must be some, however, a tool tip for each tool is for the acclrer habits. The tracks are a rgale of automation and easy management track vst-i greatly facilitated. Only downside for the moment, the instructions in pdf and English.

Installing a relatively simple problem ... by installing Midiman cards (Delta / Midisport) yet Distribus by Steinberg!
Configuration gnrale Sx1.06 close enough.
Complete manual, except for simple things, not reported and found one (export LIBRARY)!

Incredible ... all my projects turned over to the max ... Sx1.06 row, despite the Freeze! Despite the dual processor!
For projects LGERS, obviously not a problem, but to use Reason / Vsti (4ou8) + Audio (8 tracks) + Effects (3!) Or more! Forget!
I work with a professional studio .. and not to waiver SX1.06!
I specify that it is the original version ... DISEZ me that's not true! Steinberg will fix that a!!

OVERALL OPINION

From Atari and Pro24, I have always followed Steinberg (Innovative Audio in) ... and my software is Cubase prfr ... so I use it for 86 (Pro 24).
The best is the logic ... the VSTi / Vst..le worse than a ream dry, and super powerful machines that do not take it!! How far will stop on?
Still I struggled to remain faithful, but these days, no longer pays a lot!
I await an explanation for the management of Hyper Treading (which is apparently not!) In Cubase SX2!

Hello. j'viens arrived and I scan the forums. I'm working on SX2. actually it has nothing do with the old version. He benefitted from the same engine as Nuendo, and I will say it is even better and less Austr. Asio it with two runs without problem. My e-mu 1820 card is delighted. on the other hand for large mix, I prconise a minimum of 1 gigabyte of RAM, otherwise the link will crak. Bouncer effects, not bad too, it leaves the resource. Finally, for the installation, everyone knows that Steinberg (Pinnacle) is the least boring because no big con manipulation as some apps that shall remain nameless ....

the special ... I would say kan ke su ke jai lon can connect via port twelve one tite Digital vr c ke c ke interesting I think for me c the connecting buses tt (subgroup) on the console little roland vm 3100! it works well (console MX 9000 pr ki want to know them a bus 8)

Steinberg Cubase SX2 is a solid piece of software. It worked great on my Rain Quad Core computer and never crashed once. I have used Steinberg Cubase SX2 for about a year before leaving to go to Acid. But all Cubase users will tell you that this software is great. When I first started using it was difficult for me because of the layout of the program, but once I picked up the manual and read through a few parts it was really clear to me how to do everything that I needed to know. I used Steinberg Cubase SX2 more for recording, it has a simple workflow for recording and its extremely quick.

Steinberg Cubase SX2 is a highly sought after piece of software and its expensive as well. There are a ton of other software's on the market that do the exact same thing as Steinberg Cubase SX2 and cost a lot cheaper. There is nothing special about this software that makes it worth that much more many than other software's.

On things that stands out with Steinberg Cubase SX2 is the power of the mixer and effects. I love the compression and options that come with it. The compression is something that a lot of software's don’t focus on any more. It seemed like Steinberg Cubase SX2 focused a lot on the mixing part of making great sounding music. I really appreciate the fact that you have full control over the compression and and tweak it just right and its quicker and easier in this software than it was in Fl Studio and Acid.


OVERALL OPINION

Overall Steinberg Cubase SX2 is a powerful piece of software, its well worth the money spent if you have the money to spend. I suggest downloading a trial version of it first to see how you like that layout of it and if you can see your self doing production , recording, or mixing with it.
