Guyatone MCm5 Micro Chorus

Guyatone MCm5 Micro ChorusPublished on 01/26/11 at 15:00
One of the best physical features about this unit is the size. The MCm5 is part of the Mighty Micro lineup of effect pedals from Guyatone. Why is it called, 'Micro'? because the pedal is 2.6' wide, 3.9' deep and only 2.3' high! The best part of all is the sound you get from this compact, mini-pedal.

I'm a professional guitarist and have studied guitar for 31 years. I'm an instructor and perform with a cover band.

I acquired this pedal from Godlyke Distributing. I needed a chorus pedal for my board to cover the hits of the 80's. It has a list price of $190.

This is a great sounding chorus with plenty of options! Plugging in for the first time you'll get a great sound without touching anything other than the engage button! This chorus offers your usual suspects: Level, Depth and Rate knobs, but where this unit shines is in a little switch that allows the player to select between a Sine wave, Triangle wave, and a Square wave. It's really like having 3 Chorus pedals in 1...very cool. In addition, the MCm5 offers an effect level to control the overall effect that's applied to your signal. This is great if you want just a light shimmer on your sound no matter what wave you choose. More often than not I leave the wave setting on Sine, however for something different I love to use the Square wave.

Something else I really like about this unit is that the input and output jacks are located on the back of the pedal and not the sides. You can really take advantage of the smaller size and line them up next to each other for more sounds on your board!

Guyatone seemed to really nail the features that guitarists want in a chorus pedal. It found a permanent home on my pedalboard and I use it all the time when I want something different or when I'm covering an 80's tune!

The quality of this unit is high-end. It lives in an aluminum cast housing with very high components. The knobs feel smooth when they're turned and the switches glide with a premium feel - not scratchy like some other companies pedals.

The Might Micro line of pedals from Guyatone offers the working guitarist professional-grade features and exceptional sound quality in a small footprint that's rugged and meant for the road.
