i got this baby off ebay for $120AUD. it was a risk to buy it without testing it but with all the reviews around i thought i had nothin to worry about... and i right. i thought i needed i better pedal than my marshall jackhammer.

it is so versatile. you can get so many different types of distortion ranging from bristish rock, heavy metal (sounds exactly like metallica) rock and overdrive and more.

    nothing its perfect.

i got this pedal at Joe's guitars in wallingford connecticut. i got it due to the recommendation of my guitar instructor, bill francis. i paid about 90 dollars for it.

there are many thing abou this unit that i like. on thing is the manual it comes with. i would have been very confused without it. it has a vast aray of sounds you can get, from warm overdrive, to a crushing hardcore sound. the battery is pretty easy to change too. you just need to unscrew the thumbscrew and pop it in.

one thing i dont like about his unit, is the fact that it goes through batteries like water. it would be a worthwhile investment ot get the adapter also. the other thing is that all the different knobs on it …

    it has a di-cast body
    rubber bottom to reduce sliding
    plastic knobs
    easy acces battery door

it is the most versatile distortion box out there. it can do almost any task you need it to. it supplies distortion from B.B. king, to pantera, and anything in between. it may very well be the best 90 bucks i've ever dropped

i purchased this on sale for 100$ at stars music in santa rosa,CA.

the possiblilities are endless! you can get a warm, smooth bluesy sound out of it as well as
an agressive, chunky metal sound. It's an all around versatile piece of equipment that i recommend.

i don't like how it takes forever-and-a-half to get the sound i want, but when i do, it's sweet!

Rugged as a mothertrucker, this bad boy can withstand anything you can throw at it (or throw it at).

    its awesome

I bought it from a friend.I heard him playing in it,sounded really cool.
I bought it for Rs 5500

This is the only gadget I have seen that sounds cool when you are playing fret muting
stuffs, eg,Train of concequences(megadeth). The palm muting is super.
It can be made to sound like any other distortion pedals. The thing that makes this pedal so great is its 2 knob equaliser ,I think.

I think this gadget is not made for playing guitar solos because you hear a lot of extra harmonics. The lead parts donot sound so clean like in Ibanez pl-5.

    Nothing to say,just GREAT

If some one wants to be a rock star then I I think he should know what mt-2 is.

i bought this for 40 dollar from a friend who didn't need it anymore because he bought a new amp.

The equalizer is great!! Great distortion for everykind of metal even if you like it with a lot of bass!!

uhmm.... there's a little noise when you aren't playing but that can be helped with a Boss noisesuppressor and it eat's batteries as hell!!

Great construction and the best quality.
    just like it's indestructible

Excellent pedal for every metal-head that likes a great distortion!!

Before I got the MT-2 I had an Ibanez Smash Box. I was really getting tired of the bland sound and I needed something with seathing distortion. I'm in to the metalcore/hardcore scene and I noticed everyone was getting some terrific distortion off this piece of equipment. I went to Jackson's Music store in Winston-Salem, NC and bought one for about $95.00.

I absolutely love this pedal. I've tried so many and this is the toughest little thing with such great quality distortion. I've had it for a year now and I've begun to play regular metal and it seems like it can play any genre of rock. There are plenty of settings on this pedal for it to conform to any type of metal. I've had it for a year now and I've begun to play regular metal and it seems like it can play any genre of rock. There are plenty of settings on this pedal for it to conform to any type of metal. The diagram that comes in the box gives you settings for different genres of rock from hardcore to soft rock!

As with any distortion pedal there is hum, and a little feedback (not bad at all) in the background when playing. I took care of that completely with a Boss Noise Suppressor (NS-2), which is also a great buy.

I have dropped this pedal on the road, friends have stepped on it, a table fell on it, and it still works perfectly. The quality of sound still remains and it has a 2 year warranty. The Smash Box couldn't withstand that much of a beating.

Man, the only distortion pedal that can overpower this one would be an MT-3, if they ever make one. This is a must have for all you metal and rock fans that are looking for seathing distortion that can hold its tone.

I got this pedal from my bassist's brother for 40$ (Can.)and I can say I got it cheap compared to the real price (about 200 bucks)

What I like about it? It just kicks major ass! Since I am a metal-head, it perfecly fits me. The extreme gain with the 4 band EQ is simply amazing. It can emulate sounds like metallica, slipknot or korn(7-strings rulez).

The only thing I could complain about is that if you don't have noise reduction, you have some hiss when you crank your amp.

It wouldn't break in an explosion. I have it since 1997 and it still works great!!!

    1-Buy it
    2-Set it
    3-Crank It!!!!

I baught this unit at Guitar Center for $89.99. I baught it cause I needed a pedal that can get great metal tone but not muddy up when cranked.

This pedal is kick a$$. I suguest anyone whos into metal should get this pedal. You can get anywhere from a classic AC/DC to Slayer and beyond, putting it through a 4' 12" cab just inhances its tonal capabilities.

I havnt found anything yet, its an all aropund great pedal, and for 89.99, its a must have for any metal inthutheis.

great quality, sturdy, heavy unit, made in the USA, what more can I say.

Perfect pedal for anyones whos into metal, or in to rock for that matter. Very versitle, great tones, good price, great derability

Bought it from Sound Control music store in Sheffield. I paid £60 GB for it, but I got some money off because I go there so much, and I think usually it's meant to be £70-ish.

The thing I like the most is the control layout, which gives you a High and Low frequency, as well as a dual Mid-frequency control so you can adjust the level and the frequency of the Mids. This makes it absolutely perfect for the scooped-mid sound that I wanted for metal, but the thing comes with a set of presets to use, so you can do anything from Rainbow (think "Man on the Silver Mountain") and 4th-album Led Zeppelin sounds to full-on metal (everything I do from Iron Maiden to Megadeth and also drop-tuning stuff …

It also has the invaluable virtue of sounding good with things like triads and ringing open notes, which some distortions sound crap on; think of those earthy-sounding open G and F#7 chords on the title track from Black Sabbath's first record.

It bypasses really well too, and I run my guitar straight into it and then into the clean channel of my Marshall AVT20, which is perfect for all the stuff I do. I'll review this again maybe when I get around to adding a wah pedal into the setup.

Nothing at all that can think of - perhaps the tone isn't as "Dynamic" as the Danelectro "Fab Tone", but I decided on the Metal Zone over that because of the great range and versatility, and the plain "No-bullshit"ness that Boss have over Danelectro, and because overall the Zone is beytter. The Fab Tone is good for poppier music, but the Metal Zone is the best all-round distortion I've ever come across.

It's Boss, what more do you need to know?!
It would take at least a nuclear holocaust to stop this thing working (although I'd kill anyone who tried to do that to my 'Zone - it's been signed by the guys from Blaze!), it's been dropped, kicked, it's had things dropped ON it, and obviously it has to deal with my size 12's stomping on it every day, and not a single scratch so far, and never lets me down.

Only thing I'd say is, get an AC adaptor for it since the thing eats batteries like Cartman eats pies, and te sound of the thing is too good to lose because of a flat battery.

Bottom line, if you play metal, especially if you want crunch and great harmonics for rhythm and great sustain and lead tone for soloing, there's onl one way to go:

    METAL ZONE IT!

(Did I mention that it comes in a really cool matte black casing? one of that gay-ass looking yellow OD-1 crap for me).

I bought it at the Guitar Center. I bought it because I needed a good metal distortion pedal and I was getting angry at my Digitech one. I payed about $80.

I like the variety of knobs and the ability to change the level of distortion unlike on my old Digitech pedal. I also think it us very durable.

Ummm...can't think of anything I don't like about it.

It's made of metal I think. Very durable.

This pedal is good for anyone who wants to sound like Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, or In Flames.

$100+ from a music store many years ago.

I like the mid range sweep parametric EQ. I set the mid EQ to maximum negative, then sweep the frequency back and forth until I get a "V" sound that I like. Tons of bass. Sounds good to me in a transistor Peavey amp as well as in a Soldano tube amp (however its two distinctly different sounds). Ideal for palm mute distortion.

Be advised that the distortion is thick so your other equipment needs to be able to handle it; otherwise it can muddy out "weak" amps and speakers. (This is not a tube screamer or a pure volume boast to boast a lead section, so if you are looking for that, this unit will disappoint.) On the other hand, if you've got a 12…

On the other hand, if you've got a 120 watt tube (or transistor) head with robust speakers to match. Whoa, this thing can do the "wall of sound with lots of bass" thing. Never tried recording with it.

    Solid.

I'm giving this a five because when the EQ is "sucked out" or "V", it makes a great massive palm mute sound. Look elsewhere for a "cut through the band" lead device.
