Analog distortion pedal,
an inlet, an outlet (jack), three knobs for awesome sound: a "distortion" that plays on the rate of gain, a "filter" that adds more and more acute when it is turned to the left and a "volume", which adjusts the volume so the effect.

If the pedal can be powered by a 9v battery, the power supply industry is done by mini jack: an adapter!

It should unscrew the four rubber feet to the pedal to attach it to a Pedaltrain pedalboard like: a little boring, especially since the battery cover is quite large (Vis. ..)

UTILIZATION

The configuration itself is not a complicated: there are only three knobs!
However, editing the sound is more complex than a Boss pedal, for example, distortion or other "traditional" ... The sound can change drastically from one setting and another is very subtle!

SOUND QUALITY

I used this pedal on a crunch after buying it, I found it very complementing my TS808, history of having a second grain a little dirtier, nastier, more rock. It suited me and then ... more so over time.
This pedal sounds best on a basic sound clear, otherwise it's pretty rough, not defined. I guess that was the case of vintage models, I can not confirm because I could not compare! Joe Perry and Jeff Beck used the rat to boost their Marshall, however, I found nothing to really like this edition of "current".

If one pushes the rate-distortion results in a fairly fuzzy grain, rough and slimy, but nothing that resembles either a Big Muff or Fuzz Face! This pedal is a distortion, not a fuzz.
I think this sounds better when RAT2 keeps rates low distortion, even with the boost overdrive for leads (what I do ... when I use ^ ^)
Its report remains enjoyable, more natural and warm distortion that a basic, Boss, MXR or Ibanez, at random. I heard also that John Scofield uses this little black box: if one wants a modern jazzman disto versatile, controllable, but warm, the Rat is a good choice, as the guitarist who wants to render a little different than his usual Boss .

OVERALL OPINION

I have been using 1 or 2 months, but I get tired already. It is cheap, which is a quality. But I think there are in the market for more powerful machines ..!

I find the sound quite a bit. Not as good as my Guv'nor and much worse than my the Guv'nor!

But I made the Discoveries of the "pro co sound RAT2" ET ben my friends it's worth, I have never had such a good sound!

UTILIZATION

The knob are miraculous! I have rarely seen a pedal that responded as well to any setting. We understand quite quickly how to get to get the right sound. It sets the drive, then with the filter, it handles the equalization and the dose of fuzz sound sought. Finally it suffices to adjust the overall volume. Néamoins Warning: the maximum gain is obtained around 1 am, the rest of the race only adds to the compression. added 24 December 2005: new amp, new guitar with a strat we see that the rat is very quiet despite the simple microphones. now I use it more as a huge boost rather than a distortion. It plays this role very well, I get a well enough grain for an early vintage drive low: a little fuzz to the old. To drive higher, a little less controllable c: too sharp, feedback and company. It feels that the rat is still not made for that.

Purchased from the pedal to Pigalle. I for a month. UTILIZATION

I use this with a Vox Valvetronix PDAL hybrid simulation / plutt lamps and vintage guitars (Telecaster quarter with cash and P90).

The PDAL is a surprising versatility: you can go with the same joy of an almost clean that saturates just an attack on big trs violent distortion, through all the intermediate sounds intermediaries. The knob allows the filter to go from highest to heavier, but also a round, sweet sound fuzz trs aggressive.

I use it for several months. What I love is that it manages to keep a clean personality while allowing obtained in minutes trs DIFFERENT sounds: clean, overdrive lightweight, large rock or bluesy crunch, Round distortion for solos and rhythmic fuzz for bleeding ... prservant and the personality of the guitar, the amp and guitar!

Although it is a little sr CHRE, but it can advantageously replace several distortion by itself. And used it right away more affordable. But be careful: it is mostly a PDAL for blues, rock, jazz and punk: it will be much more difficult for the metal.

Very easy to use:

I use the pedal with my two guitars, a Start and a Rickenbacker 620 Mex, and a marshall amp transistors (unfortunately). I also use a Boss chorus pedal that makes a lot aditionnée to RAT2 to do solos.

Distortion is very effective, as I said, and very varied. it can play very different styles of music. I like it much when I use it with very low distortion, plus a boost to play the rhythms of funk snapping well, when I use high gain to the rock.

not only can go from one style to another but also from one period to another: the versatility of the RAT2 is impressive, we may as well have a very 60's vintage sound like a modern rock sound.

OVERALL OPINION

What I like most is I think the versatility of the pedal: it is able to adapt to almost anything you want to play in a minimum of settings. the use of knobs is very simple and instinctive in one evening you have mastered its operation

some say that when we increase the saturation you lose bass and high gain as it has a lot of treble. possible but personally I like a lot of Rickenbacker basses, it makes up for it.

the price / quality ratio is excellent. it is quite possible the purchase without any problems, it is a pedal designed to be indestructible ... I paid 70euros hand and it seems to me a good price, and it is even possible to find cheaper.

I had several distortion pedals, a Zoom, and an MXR RAT2. I sold the others, but RAT2 I'm not about to do! The Zoom sounded too synthetic. The MXR pedal was a good vintage too but really, it was hard to get out of Clapton and the Beatles. The ProCo is the most versatile.
