New Strings Make All the Difference

I have been playing Ernie Ball regular slinky strings for more than 10 years. I typically change the strings on my electric guitar once a month, or even more often if I am recording. Probably the biggest tip I can give someone that is either new to playing the guitar, or is looking for a simple way to improve the tone of their guitar - change the strings. I have been playing Ernie Ball regular slinky strings for more than 10 years. I typically change the strings on my electric guitar once a month, or even more often if I am recording. Probably the biggest tip I can give someone that is either new to playing the guitar, or is looking for a simple way to improve the tone of their guitar - change the strings. I know too many people that never change their strings until something breaks. This is the easiest way to insure that your guitar sounds dull and lifeless until the next time your strings break. The Ernie Ball slinky strings are the cheapest way to keep your guitar sounding good. Every time you put a new set on your guitar will sound much better than when it old strings with dirt and grime all over them. The main thing is that all the dirt and grime changes the physics of how your strings vibrate. When the strings can't vibrate properly, you are going to lose tone. Therefore, change your strings and clean them whenever you play.
The only downside of these strings is that they don't hold their tone for very long. As soon as you put them on, they sound great. However, after about 5-10 hours of play time, they really start to sound dull. I guess you get what you pay for. There are more expensive strings that hold their tone for longer. Pretty much if you pay more money then you won't have to change the strings as often. With these strings, they are super cheap. I typically buy them in packs of 10 sets. But then you have to change the strings over and over again. This is a little bit of a hassle. I have recently tried out the new Ernie Ball Cobalt strings. I honestly don't think they sound better than the Regular Slinky strings, but I am hoping they hold their tone for longer. All this to say, the regular slinky strings sound great. As long as you are willing to change your strings often, then these are the way to go.

I use these Ernie Ball strings for my Fender Stratocaster. I use the .10 gage (or the bright neon yellow package). I have used these strings for years. I used to use Fender strings, but I like these a whole lot better. I use these strings for both liver performances and recording in my basement.

I bought these from Guitar Center for about $6.

I love the feel and tone of these strings. They have a very smooth feel and are very easy to slide around on. They also sound great and hold their tune well. Obviously another plus is that they only cost about $6 per pack.

I don't really have any big complaints with this product. They are great strings.

I have only broken a few of these strings, but it was always after tons of use. They never snap right away and hold up very well. Also, I have never received a mangled or disfigured string from them. All the strings are always exactly the way they should be.

Overall, I have always been satisfied with using Ernie Balls. They are cheap strings that sound and feel anything but cheap. I will continue using Ernie Balls long into the future, and it will take a pretty great string to convince me otherwise.

Great Strings

These strings are great. Nice crisp, clear, and strong tone. They're great for everything from country to metal as long as you put them on the right guitar. The treble strings are bright, but not overly bright. The bass strings are warm, but still crisp and punchy. They have great punch and a nice, full, and rounded sound on all of the strings. They have a great feel and are not floppy at all in E standard or drop D. They are a bit floppy in D standard and Drop C, but they're still usable. They're very easy to string, and very easy to fret. They are super easy to bend as well. They keep their tone for 2-4 weeks depending on how often you play, how much you sweat, and the humidity levels...…

High humidity and being near salt water would make your strings lose their tone much faster. I used to use GHS strings, but then I started looking for different strings to use since I was not happy with them. They were poor quality and did not sound too good. I have been using Ernie Ball strings for 2 years and I haven't looked back since changed. I've only broken a handful of strings the entire time I have been using them. The only reason they broke was I had a burr on my low E's saddle. Other than that, I haven't had any problems with them breaking. Since I switched from GHS, I won't use any other strings now. They're the best quality and tone for the price in my opinion, and one of the best string makers around. Ernie Ball are known for makers of quality, great sounding strings, and that's exactly what you get when you buy these.

Great Strings for Lower tunings.

These strings are great. They are 11-54 gauge, and meant for drop tunings. Nice clear, crisp sound with nice highs and articulate lows. Very easy to play, and are great for lower tunings like Drop C or D standard. They don't get super loose and flabby like other strings would, and that is a huge plus. I've always preferred Ernie Ball strings to other brands. I used to use GHS, and since I've switched to Ernie Ball, I don't think I'm ever leaving them. Their tone is warm on the lower strings and bright on the higher. They have the perfect balance of warm and bright for each string. In short, if you're looking for strings for lower tunings that won't feel like rubber bands and that sound...…

As with all Ernie Ball strings, they sound great, and last for 2-4 weeks. Their life will be cut short if you live in an area of high humidity, or live near salt water. I haven't had a single string break in the time I used them. I used them for around a year, and the only string that broke was the low E. That was due to a burr in it's saddle, not the string quality. The strings are super easy to bend, as are all Ernie Ball strings. Being a higher gauge, they're a bit harder to bend and fret than 10's, but it's not a humongous difference. They take a bit of getting used to, but once you're used to 'em, they play great. In my opinion, these work best for D standard tuning and below. There's too much tension for me to use them in E standard. All in all, these are great strings for drop tunings. Ernie Ball has, once again, made an awesome pack of guitar strings.
