Epiphone Sheraton IIPublished on 07/06/01 at 15:00
I bought this guitar several years ago from Rock N Rhythm
    http://www.rocknrhythm.com
... it was on sale for 428.00 with hard case.
I couldn't turn that down.. I should have bought two or three more.

From day one the guitar sounded good and played great. The fit and finish were excellent..only the most minute nit picking finds problems.
I have swapped out the pickups for Gibsons, and this made a qualitative difference.
I've had no problems at all with this guitar. It still plays great and looks great and sounds great.
It sold me on Epiphone, and made a semi hollow lover out of me.
I have to say the neck comes first for me. It's just about perfect for me.

The quality of the guitar is outstanding, and the look and tone are both top shelf.

I don't like how hard it is to replace pots.
Fishing through the F holes is a drag.

Construction and quality is excellent. Only very minor flaws anywhere.. a tad too much filler in a neck inlay..a tiny spot of dirt in the finish.
Tough as nails!.. This thing was on a stand in my living room for the better part of it's first three years at home... no humidifier.. midwest weather.
You'd never know it. I could polish it up and put it back on the rack.
Beautifully done, and done well, too.

Epiphone has a winner here. You can't get a 335 styled guitar anything like this elsewhere.
From the multi ply binding, to the neck headstock inlays.. bound f holes.. gold hardware.. center block construction.. all maple top back and sides.. five ply mahogany/maple neck..
everything is very well done and very pretty.
If you want a fancy 335.. the sheraton II will fill that bill and provide you with great playability and sound as well.
If you want a plain one.. take a good look at the epiphone dot.

    Decent guitar, cheap electronics

Epiphone Sheraton IIPublished on 12/31/11 at 11:09
The Epiphone Sheraton II is based on the original Epiphone design that was highly popular in the sixties and seventies. The core inspiration is an ES335 by Gibson, but the Epiphone does have a vibe that's all its own. It features a maple body and neck with a rosewood fretboard, 22 frets, gold hardware, a tune-o-matic bridge with stopbar tailpiece, and a pair of Epiphone humbuckers based on Gibson '57 Classics. They're primarily made overseas... I have seen Korean models as well as some newer ones that are made in China.

They're primarily made overseas... I have seen Korean models as well as some newer ones that are made in China.

    UTILIZATION

The design is reasonably ergonomic I would say. It is definitely not a light guitar, but considering that it's maple with a solid block running through it, that's not a shock. For being a 335 type guitar the ergonomics are fine. The shape can be a bit big for some people, but if you're standing up and playing this is less noticeable. The upper fret access isn't bad, but it really is nothing to write home about due to the stubby cutaways and the typical Gibson style neck heel. Getting a good sound out of this guitar is easy enough. The stock pickups aren't really worth anything, but they do a passable job at covering various styles to my ears.

    SOUNDS

The downfall with semi hollow guitars is that they can be difficult to rewire or replace the pickups in if the user isn't a fan of the pickups that are in the guitar. Unfortunately Epiphone's pickups are less than stellar in this case, and I find them to be a bit muddy and dull. You can get some nice jazz or blues tones through a clean amp, but they're not as crisp or punchy as I'd like. The drive tones really don't do much for me as the pickups are just out of their element and tend to feed back. When you do tame them, the sound is still dull and a bit lifeless, so it's not the most inspiring tone. You could swap the pickups for Gibson '57s or some Duncans, but that would require a fair bit of work to rewire, so you'd have to decide if that was worth it. It sounds okay with the stock pickups, but really not good enough to spend $650 on the guitar.

    OVERALL OPINION

All in all I think the Epiphone Sheraton II is a decent semi hollow body guitar for those who are looking for something upscale without spending a fortune. The stock electronics are pretty bad, but the quality of the guitar is decent and the feel is very nice. At $650 new I'd be inclined to get something cheaper like an Epi Dot and replace the pickups to get a better tone, as the sounds out of this guitar plugged in don't really make me want to get out my wallet and buy.

I admit that, despite the small amp I (Vox Pathfinder 15 R), since it speaks well trs.
In fact, you can enter the magical world of crunch just by varying the attack mdiator: you spend so clear sound jazzy dlicieusement removing (almost) all the treble, a crunch the best effect just a little more forward.
These microphones are also capable of delivering crystal clear sound in all three positions of the switch, adding many acute sr. The distorted sounds are not far behind.
I would love to try this config with an amp lamps if I could afford.
    Original sound with microphones: 8 / 10

This semi-hollow is made in Korea it seems to me (for me), but there is a "lite" version is 1500 euro made in Japan.

Before I had a Squier Start, I had to adapt a little bit especially since I'm taking a pass of 10-46 11-48, more suited to the violin.

CHAC is the acute way, less than a strat's on the form is too good, but it is heavy ... (Unless an epiphone LP even when (I test)).

The three micro-config to switch between sound trs hot (I love) has a more cutting edge for rhythm ska, funk, and has the ca disto EHJV!

    SOUNDS

Personally, I could just jou with this guitar: blues, rock, ska, punk, see metal. The semi-hollow add really something.

I play a Peavey Classic 30, so I sound super hot, it sounds really great on an amp lamps. A trs high volume, when it is not the strings, it tends to have some feedback, but it is not trsgnant, especially if you buy good mics, and when we play the punk ...

    Addition:
Since I play in the studio with a drummer trs nerv I push the amp (mainly a Marshall JCM 900 100w head of cabinet 4x12 ") and the feedback is unbearable!

I wanted to change the pickups, but it is especially good because of the half body and pickups I think are good.

So I invested in a Boss NS-2 (noise suppressor) and I redcouvre my guitar! a single feedback, except when we want to dclanchant the pedals: Yeah!

    OVERALL OPINION

C'tait the guitar of my dreams when I start scratching, 2 years ago, I did a half box for its aesthetics ... I'm glad a strat not expensive to begin with, but true that since I (one year) it's great.

Mine is black (with accoustillage dor and mother, I find it too too good ...) I have tried other half box: aria, epi casino, it's really over in therm of violin and its aesthetic.
The report price is great quality, I am the best plan to epiphone.

I bought 580 euro hand, I do it again without any hsitation this choice, I love this guitar.

    UTILIZATION

The mache is in the spirit Gibson, we like it or not. It is relatively bulky and heavy enough to stand the game but we did not sustain it without the chest and a little effort! Access to treble is good until the 22nd case. For sound there before the change of micro and after, this is not the same guitar. On the micro acute it was very bad in the beginning, very unbalanced in relation to the neck pickup with its fine and showy enough unusable. SH4 with changes everything, it was a great blues rock sound with a huge, warm sustain and feedback easy to hang turning to the amp. Inermédiaire position is used for rhythmic rapporchant by a single coil sound from the center position. For the neck pickup I changed it because I was given an SH1, but the original was correct. Here we gain a little heat in his clear and precise in its full.

    SOUNDS

It is more versatile than you think with some pretty sound:
    - The very clear mache jazz as expected, warm and full, for example on my riffworld: http://www.riffworld.com/Members/chavilbus/smoothfusionballad
    - Saturated the neck and bridge when we get closer to a more sustain Lespaul eg http://www.riffworld.com/Members/chavilbus/southernroadblues is entirely done with it, rhythm and solo
    - A fusion of the micro acute saturated. This piece shows the two sounds clear round / saturated bridge http://www.riffworld.com/Members/chavilbus/bluebossa
I put an 8 by taking into account the change in micro.
You can also have a nice crunch to blues rock on the mic acute

    OVERALL OPINION

I use it regularly for 20 years, I have since purchased other guitars but I would not trade it because I need it for a jazz sound (obviously if I get a 335 I will see my decision!). The value for money was excellent (I paid 3500 francs. The characteristic I like least, if we find something (but this is the case every half case): the galley to change the pickups if you want to do it properly by the gills.
Otherwise I tried a Chinese model later (2009). I much prefer mine in finishing and printing of violin making. As against the new pickups are more correct than the original ones I had, especially at the bridge, unless the upgrade is justified.

Not encountered any problem of balance.

    SOUNDS

The work SoNotas overall is excellent, it is the I fell backwards on the day o I have seen the essay prize. The half-tural fund provides warmth and body to the sound, perfect for playing any style I Describes above. I have no demonstrated need to change the pickups, but only my opinion.
The three pickups offer a range tural play, whether solo, rhythm, arpge, it has nothing to throw.
The sounds in the bass a little drool and lack precision, but is it really a problem for everyone?
I love the sound that it gives direct (no amp or amp simulator), with just a lgre reverb.
Otherwise I branch in a small pdalier Digitech cheap with minimal treatment, or a small Marshall amp Vintage lamp. For the crunchy sounds, as they say, so with a lgre saturation is perfect too. Especially not to a large
    distortion is not for a.

The original pickups are Epiphone 57 Classic. However I bought this beautiful guitar used and it had real Gibson 57 Classic ... top The sound!
I heard that the pickups were the original weakness of this guitar. In short I have two pickups Epiphone brand new in boxes of Gibson pickups for sale cheap cheap ...

Bridge, a Tune O Matic works very well.
The handle is very nice. Just enough to round the back, just the right thickness and the table just large enough.

I put a 9 because I do not assess the microphones of origin. However with my Gibson pickups I know it's a 10 that is!

    UTILIZATION

I just bind the rope as a patient passes in blues guitar, but excessive guard agreed! I have rarely seen a guitar so stable.

The key is really incredible on this guitar. One of the best I've tried so far. The set of fingers is soft on the sleeve. Guitar forgive the inaccuracies and the key is used a lot of speed. At least better than my old Start or my Godin XTSA. It is difficult to play further than the twentieth cargo because of the arch and heel. In my case all the qualities stifle this very minor detail ...

The guitar is big and heavy. In my case it's perfect. That way the substain is feeling well. To buy a Gibson Melody Maker Light ... The particular shape of the body as an instrument is relatively bulky for me it's like to walk in a big Cadillac convertible in 1957. It is a beautiful guitar. Yet there is not too long ago I di that I was missing 20 years to play it.

Curiously, perhaps because of the wood grain in the sound and / or the Gibson 57 Classic that are above this guitar really m'envoute. I find myself having another completely different game on this guitar. I am more blues and jazz. In fact I feel réaprendre playing with a renewed passion. I also just bought a Gibson Les Paul Studio Gold United States brand new and I think she will settle for second place. Oddly I think I prefer my big Cadillac to the hot hatch ...

    SOUNDS

Wow! There I am running out of words ...
As I said I have a Gibson 57 Classic pickups on this Korean.
In my case it's the most amazing guitar sound I heard. Obviously I have not had the chance to play on a Gibson BB King Lucille (United States) but connected to my Sheraton II Line 6 Flextone III gives me incredible results. The game of tone knobs and combinations of two microphones in addition to all of my modeling amp I can get the sound I want every time. The wood grain is very apparent.
The pickups are just enough creamy but both clear and crunchy in attack.

    OVERALL OPINION

I have this guitar for 3 days. In fact I got robbed at home. So I flew my Godin XTSA was mounted with micro DiMarzio. My favorite music store (Kingdom of Music, not to name him) kindly lent me the Sheraton II pending the resolution of the insurer (and the purchase of my Les Paul United States).
Normally this should not have a guitar to be paid ... In short, got home I plugged in and I immediately knew that she would never leave the house ...

I paid $ 770 with Gibson 57 Classic pickups and two microphones in original boxes.
I think I paid a fair price. In this case I could have been a very bad customer because I am in love with the scratches!

I tried many more expensive guitars that I have never done this ...

Epiphone Sheraton II made in Korea, built a priori from the mid-90s according to his previous landlord.
I think everything has already said a ca t on

    UTILIZATION

In practice, it is very nice this guitar!
access to the AIS is rather acute.
it has a slight tendency to pitch down but not as much, however, that sg, we must support the left hand while playing short, thick muscle fatigue has arrived, but it is not topic

So it stings slightly nose but it's still okay

So it stings slightly nose but it's still okay

the guitar is rather heavy, it must be said that its size is impressive!

otherwise it is in the high-end home epiphone, the real mother of pearl inserts are really very beautiful, it is very very far from the stews of poorly fitting plastic sg release early 2000

c-level mechanical killing, once agreement c you can stay three weeks without touching anything, it is impassible!

the knobs do not spit a pet, the jack is perfectly stable, it's guitar pro quality, very reliable stage or studio

the selector works perfectly, unlike anyone I've had in epiphone (I like epiphone, especially qd lol you change the pickups, so I think a package!)

In summary level use this guitar is a source of calm a bit heavy, but even qd c certainly making sound and charm of the guitar

    SOUNDS

Qd sound, well, I have the original pickups, c not bad at all!
the bridge is nervous and powerful, the sound is rich and overdrives and distortions persist ttres linear way qd allowed to ring the agreements, unlike the LP and SG epiphone or sound is lost quickly (maybe less now that epiphone puts of the best pickups on his guitars, it is not even in the micro qd gibson but its become absolutely honorable and individual)

the neck pickup is warm and powerful, more jazz and blues that is very good in rock
The microphone is also qualitbr />
the sound comes out right away, I play with fillets flat, c very well there's no searching for a 107 years, branch, we play, it sounds!!

we feel that we are qd even in the high-end guitar, but a reduced price

so I am very happy with my purchase, I play also with my less JOE PASS Di Marzio up in nets and air classic dishes since I was the Sheraton, but I think c more a matter of personal taste as the comparison has its limits

if I bought a couple 490 R 498 T gibson that I will get one of those four to see, because I think that despite the good qulit epiphone pickups can be there will be a better sound with the Gibson ... I'll post an add loesque it will be done

more intermediate position c flute, funky, I also like

so it's a guitar that sounds great original, which lacks a small grain can be particular to become a legend, but in any case it is very reliable and the sound quality is

    OVERALL OPINION

Summarizing an Epiphone Good, reliable, sounds, and is four times cheaper than ES335 at the very least, maybe a change of micro could bring a little touch of madness ....
I would do this choice given the price of the guitar, its sound and its fiabilitbr /> OCCAZ of us if I got it for 220 euros a stroke of luck .... aaaah qd encheres you we care!

2 Epiphone humbuckers that spit even when well!

handle wide enough (good for blues and rhythm)

    nice finish

    UTILIZATION

A little heavy but the shoulder muscle!
I would say it is practical and solid.

    SOUNDS

I play rock / blues. I use a Vox AD50VT which is great.
Premire is my semi-hollow and I love it.
It does not go straight to the feedback (as prsence a central beam) but when she goes there with a good distortion is great.

So you can rev well use it with a clear, clean (and we feel the case), or with distortion.

    OVERALL OPINION

    OVERALL OPINION

I use it for a year and a half at Thomann djachete 600) and it's crazy the report quality price! Same with the original pickups. Aesthetics perfect (should be treated with care as accidents on black it shows! And dusts also ^ ^) and logo piphone nacre when even more class than at Gibson! For those who do not have a standard budget and want a professional guitar is the plan!
This is my guitar Premire bought new and I do not spare! I can not imagine playing without it.
