    Marshall AVT50-Head

    Marshall AVT50HPublished on 12/13/02 at 15:00
I paid about $450 for this at a local music store. It came with a footswitch and tone that kicked my ass.

Just about everything! Both the clean and OD channels rock. The clean channel is suprisingly good far a half solid state. It has a pretty good amount of warmth, and sisnce it doesn't push a cab as hard as a 100W head, it has really good headroom. Then, there's the sweet, sweet distortion. The tube preamp makes an awesome OD sound that is extremely versatile. You can go from soft blues licks to skull-crushing death brekdowns in the crank of a knob. The reverb is pretty good, but I don't really like using it (personal preference). Since it has a headphone jack, you can practice without …

The reverb is pretty good, but I don't really like using it (personal preference). Since it has a headphone jack, you can practice without bothering anybody else. Awesome amp.

Since it's only 50W instead of 100, you don't get quite the chest-pounding volume out of it. But it is definitely loud enough to gig with and jam with. Also, it takes forever to warm up. I'm not sure why, but a JCM 2000 TSL100 boots up in about half the time this one does. The tone controls aren't 100% expressive, either. They work really well but not quite like a full tube amp.

Everything is amazing about this amp. It's built perfectly in the Marshall tradition. It's impossible to fuck this thing up.

I recommend this amp to anyone who wants a very good gigging amp with tons of tone. (That would be all of us.) The price is really good, and with a good cab, the tone is outstanding. Whatever you do don't get the combo version. It deosn't sound half as good as the head. No matter what kind of music you play, this amp can suit you. It's practically flawless. Go buy one ASAP.

    Marshall AVT50 Head

    Marshall AVT50HPublished on 05/24/02 at 15:00
I traded in my VS100RH for it at Noah's music in Yuma because I needed something better for recording.

TIGHT punchy vintage metal overdrive -much tighter than the VS100RH. Straight forward setup. Excellent, warm sounding clean and reverb. Gain switch on the clean makes the clean channel warmer and more versatile. Much Much louder than I expected -sound maintains shape at just about any volume. Records well and looks sharp too.

It would be nice to have a mid EQ on the cleans, but the sound doesn't seem to suffer much from it.

The construction is beautiful! This time Marshall actually made a Valvestate head that is proportionate to the cab. It doesn't look cheap like the older heads -it …

The construction is beautiful! This time Marshall actually made a Valvestate head that is proportionate to the cab. It doesn't look cheap like the older heads -it includes gold lace lining around the perimeter of the face and has a vent and fan built in to keep it cool. I seriously go to sleep staring at it!

The trade was just a trial run at first. I actually had low expectations on the AVT50 head, but was willing to try anything to make better recordings. I compared it side by side with my friend's VS100RH and was truly surprised and astonished! I doubted that I was going to keep it, but after hearing just the first few notes from it, I was won over. I haven't tried it full bast yet, but so far seems to be about as loud as the 100 watt VS100RH. I liked my old more versatile VS100RH, but the versatility couldn't match the sound -I am thrilled with the trade!

i bought it from the Gutar Amp and Keyboard centers website for £250 (www.gak.co.uk)

great tone at all volumes. loads of gain and great crisp clean tone, perfect for all styles.

the C.D imput doesnt work very well and it is very heavy.

amazing, the vales are the only part that are breakable, the build quality is perfect.

great amp, great sound, great price. a very good buy although if u can afford it get the DSL100

    Marshall AVT50 head

    Marshall AVT50HPublished on 10/26/01 at 15:00
I bought this head at Mars and paid $459.99 for it. I had needed a bigger amp than I was using.

Even though its not all tube, it sounds great. The ovedrive channel has good warmth and the clean channel is nice & glassy. The reverb also sounds great, and it sounds good at any volume.

The CD input doesnt work well at all. But everything else works great.

The contruction is very tough. This head is made more compact than most Marshall heads. It's about 3 inches narrower. The quality is equal to all other Marshall products.

This is a great amp at a great price. It,s definetley big enough for anything smaller than a stadium, but will work in a bedroom just fine.

    UTILIZATION

Setup could not be more simple, 2 channels, clean and overdrive with their personal equalizer, reverb.
The advantage is to have a gain knob and a volume knob for both channels, it allows a greater diversity of sounds (gain by pushing the light was a crunch, the limit of the overdrive when it's back, lowering the gain and volume of the guitar, we get a clear sound warmer than the clean channel itself).
Rapidemant found the right sound, thanks especially to the manual is to help a little beginners.

    SOUNDS

Impcable for rock, blues, hard rock to the same.
Mtal lovers and other barbarians of the distortion and will dcus ptag spandrel, the overdrive is trs clear, same background, so it spits pas.Mme however, is the big big sound ....--> Grinding, cutting and putting mdium gain a background, we get a sound close to the trash, neo-metal ...
For me, I find impcable, trs versatile, the warm sound of the lamp are a rgal.
I admire particulirement the crunch of the channel clear, flexible trs, trs bon.Bref I play rock, and I love bass !!!!!!! And you cut the breath ( g group even Russian imitates a bass sound, and finally as heavy, with a bass Soost more)

    OVERALL OPINION

I use it for a month, but for me it's a rvlation!
For those who are fed up of transistors, here the type of bte too onreux allows immediately to have the sound!! Marshall never does as good as its dernires year, and this edition is likely to remain in the memory!! Gnial I think the word ke ...

    Not Marshall's best

    Marshall AVT50HPublished on 07/08/11 at 12:58
This is a cheap amp from Marshal in just about ever way. The tone is thin and fizzy at best an the overall feel of the amp is sub par. This amp doesn't have the feel of what you would think when they claim the tube feeling of the amp. The power section is still solid state and you will not get that tube punch that comes with a real all tube amp.

    Output: 50-Watts

    SOUNDS

The tone of of this amp is not very good. It really isn't any better than a Line 6 modeler amp. Yes it does a preamp tube in it but that only changes the voicing of the amp. The feel is what makes a tube amp and tub amp. That can only come from the power section. This amp is really about the same as a $100 solid state amp.

Doesn't really matter what guitar you play with this amp because it is just garbage. The tone is a Marshall tone but so sub standard to what I feel a Marshall amp to be. I suggest throwing this amp off the roof and being done with it.

    OVERALL OPINION

These amps are no long in production and the used market is the only way to score one now. I would suggest not wasting your time with this hunk of junk. Get a real tube and or just save your money. This amp is sterile sounding and just plain awful. If you do find one in the classifieds just keep going until you hit Marshal JCM2000 DSL 100 or Peavey 5150. You will get a much better tone out of those amps than you would this thing.

The Marshall AVT50H is value state guitar head. 115watts input with a 50w RMS output. At first you think that it's not a lot of power but it's enough for a live show and to record with. I used this at a club venue and it kicked out some good tones. It has just the quarter inch inputs and outputs. CD in, Headphones in, FX return, FX send, foot switch, Emulated DI out, with 2 main outputs for the cabinets. Runs at 4ohms. Weight is at 12.4kg. Dimensions: 674 x 250 x 254mm. It uses a master volume, clean, and overdrive channel with a single reverb setting. It has no built in effects like chorus, flanger, or phaser. You can use many different types of cabinets for this head and for marshalls series in general.

    UTILIZATION

The setup for this is simple. Just plug in the adapter cord for power, turn it on and let it warm up, and plug in. It's a basic setup for the sound. Clean or Overdrive tune. I never look at the manuals or really even get a manual when I buy the product from a store. Sometimes the stores either lose or don't get one. When I look at a guitar amp, I like to play around with the outputs and settings to see what it can do myself.

    SOUNDS

I do rock and hard rock/metal music. It's simple enough to get the right guitar and have a really good sound. I've tried this with 10 guitars and they all produced a good sound. I have an explorer right now and that rocks. I don't use any pedals or effects. I like the raw sound and playing style. The clean channel has gain, volume, bass and treble. Not to much to work with the sound. For the clean channel, to get a really good sound, you do have to depend on your guitar. The overdrive channel has gain, volume, bass, mid, treble. You can have the cleanest, most simple electric tones. I like that their isn't 7 knobs for low/mid/high. Just set it to the basic sound and level and your ready to go. You can get similar guitar sounds from bands like Three Days Grace, or Metallica. If you want that mainstream rock sound, this provides it. I don't use the reverb setting at all really. Reverb on electric guitar isn't good unless your doing 80's music. I use the straight AVT cabinet along with this head and slant Crate GX cabinet series. They put out a good tune and work good together to create a unique sound.

    OVERALL OPINION

I've owned this amp for 2 years now and it still runs great. I like everything about it. It's simple to use and doesn't take forever to set the sound. The crate models are what I used to use. I was a big fan of the band Creed. The marshal heads just give a much better sound and add the tone you need. The AVT 150H, I tried out, and I thought it had to many different switches and sounds you could play with. The MG100FX head is good for the beginning guitarists in high school. This is a head for the mainstream rock musician and club and small venue artists. I bought this for $550. Not bad of a price. I love the amp. It's works good and has everything I want.
