One of the best affordable condensers out
Published on 02/13/13 at 21:11 The Baby Bottle microphone is made by Blue Microphones and has been out for a while now. I was using it for 3 months last year. It comes with a custom pop filter and in a wood box. The Baby Blue is considered to be one of the best condenser microphones that can be purchased for fewer than 500 dollars and I agree. For the price that the Baby Bottle cost you will not find any other microphone that can do what it can do in that price range.
OVERALL OPINION
The Baby Bottle does require phantom power and it is a pressure gradient condenser microphone with a cardioids polar pattern. The frequency response is 20Hz to 20 kHz. The sound quality is crisp and clean on all different vocal types....…

OVERALL OPINION
The Baby Bottle does require phantom power and it is a pressure gradient condenser microphone with a cardioids polar pattern. The frequency response is 20Hz to 20 kHz. The sound quality is crisp and clean on all different vocal types. I have not used this microphone for anything other than recording vocals in my studio. But I have heard that it does well with some instruments too.
The Baby Bottle sounds very natural and does not color the sound at all. It is rich and full and does a great job with those mid to high range frequencies to get them cutting through the mix. I used the Baby Bottle with a high fidelity cable to get the best possible sound out of it that I could and I had a shockmount from when I was using the Blue Microphones Spark mic so I used that with the Baby Bottle microphone.
I do not own this microphone anymore but I still have Blue Microphone mics in my current studio and I love them. The quality that Blue Microphones provides is great and they stand by all of their products. I have used the Spark, Kiwi and a few other mics from them and each of them are absolutely amazing. I recommend this microphone if you are recording from home and want to get a great sound for a few hundred bucks. As long as you have a decent interface with warm preamps you will get an amazing sound for recording at home.

perfect for home
Published on 06/24/12 at 14:46The Baby Bottle mic from Blue Microphones is a high quality Condenser Mic that is great for home and personal studio use as well as major studio use. I have seen this mic in so many different set ups its crazy, and I didn’t even have to wonder why after using it. After using it twice I knew why everyone loved it. It was easy, because of the quality you can get with it. I was extremely happy to use this mic at home and I stil use it, it is probably the most used mic that I have at home in my collection of gear. I don’t travel with it much because I don’t want anything to happen to it because it was not cheap at all. It is one of the more expensive mics that I have actually purchased for...…

OVERALL OPINION
I have been using it for over 4 years now and im very happy to say I have got my money’s worth out of it, when I purchased it I bought it brand new and it cost me 490. At the time I couldn’t believe I was going to spend that money on a mic just for home demo’s. But after using it this many years im satisfied and feel like I got my money out of it and I have been able to put out great quality stuff not just demo sounding stuff.
The quality of this mic for an alto singer is amazing, and its second to none. My sister does some singing and she comes over to record and she loves this mic as well and it really makes her voice sound great, its unbelievable. It doesn’t sound so good on my voice as it does on hers because I have a deep tone. But it still is one of the better mics for my tone that I have ever seen or used at home.

Very unique looking mic. The oddness is matched by the quality. The only thing missing is a pad switch. Low pitched vocalist don't sound as good as higher pitched ones.
Price paid: $500
Crystal clear, and no coloration. When I first used it, the clarity was in another category compared to my 4033.
48V phantom power. Plug in your XLR Kiwi cable and go.
OVERALL OPINION
Very beautiful mic. The first session I used it in, people just would look at it in awe.
definitely my favorite mic in my collection. However, my 4033 is a close second because of the -10db pad switch.

The baby bottle is a large diaphragm condenser mic housed in a cartoon microphone body. Seriously, one of this mic's best assets is the way it looks. Every time I used this to record someone, they remark on how awesome it looks and they seem somewhat inspired to perform just a little bit better. That is a huge plus for this mic. In addition for the great original look, this mic is sonically very nice. The noise floor is very low on this mic even though it looks like a tube microphone. Whatever you record with this mic, assuming you have a quiet room, is going to come through as a very clean and quiet signal. It is a condenser so you need to use phantom power with it. It comes...…

Whatever you record with this mic, assuming you have a quiet room, is going to come through as a very clean and quiet signal. It is a condenser so you need to use phantom power with it. It comes with a really unique and cool looking spider shock mount and pop filter with the Blue logo on it. It does seem like it might be a little bit fragile, so I wouldn't recommend trying to use this mic live or on a drum kit with drum sticks flying around it. You also get a really nice wooden box and velvet sleeve for storing the mic. Blue mics are also USA hand-made to very exacting specifications, so you know you will be getting a very nicely crafted microphone that will last.
OVERALL OPINION
This mic has a very transparent and clear sound. The one defining characteristic of this mic that does stick out though is the mid range. There is definitely some mid-range hype that goes on through this microphone, but surprisingly it never really bothers me because it still manages to sound very natural. This can even be a positive thing if you are recording something like an electric guitar where it's all about the mids anyway. This mic will get you pro quality at a discount price, all the while looking very cool. I love this mic!
